RIP Lawman
I grew up watching him in the holy trinity, maybe not in their prime, in the era they had long hair, awful boggy pitches, but the trinity stood out. Ballon Dor winner Law was a great, I am lucky, I saw him play for Utd towards the end of his career with us. Was there when he did the backheel in 74 for City, yet despite that, on the day we knew how he loved United by his reaction and tears. We never ever held it against him. Always a red. Back then footballers were humble, connected with people and not aloof. We have lost a real legend not just a footballer but a good man too.

I also grew up watching the Holy Trinity. They were great days, great footballers and The Lawman, The King, was right up there among the very best of footballers and as a person. A great man and a sad loss. RIP Sir.

Saw him in his peak years. 1963 - 1966. Every home game and Maine Road. Deadly. Also what a character! It’s then that we started using first names. He was always, “Denis! ” The sands of time.
