Anyone see that interview with the Irish Liverpool fan outside Anfield when asked about the ticket price increases? Brilliant. James Milner for £77? Are you mad?

Whilst that lot are the enemy, I applaud them for the walk out. We still hold the cards if only we realised it especially in this era of TV money. Imagine the reaction of the companies that bankroll football. The advertisers. if the games were played in front of empty stadiums? They'd soon get a grip of the premier league and realign their chakras for them. They don't want their precious brands accosiated with a stadium full of tumble weed and no atmosphere. Advertising suicide. A case in point would be if for example Sunderland drew Middlesbrough in the FACup semifinal. The fans would have to schlep to Wembley when there's a perfectly adequate stadium at Newcastle. All because of money and greed to pay for the white elephant that is the national stadium. But such teams don't often get to Wembley so that's the sentiment the cynical suits play on to justify such greed. So let's applaud the scousers for growing a pair and next time we're at Wembley for a semi, stay at home and see what a spectacle with one end empty will look on TV.

Haven't posted in a while so here's a long one.

Important run of games coming up starting with Chelsea tomorrow. I'm really optimistic we can manage top four with the form we're in. 2-1 to United tomorrow for me. Martial and Mata to score against his former club.

Plenty of reports that a new succession plan, post LVG, is now being discussed.

I'm conflicted with the Jose reports.

While I'm concerned about possible baggage and don't want negative attention to affect the club, I'm struggling to think of a proven (in the premier league) manager that is up to the task and would not back down from the pressure, media circus, expectations and Pep (who everyone wants to hand the title to before he manages a game in England) . Pep is a great manager but has he ever not inherited the best team in any league he's managed? La Liga is usually a two horse race and the Bundesliga may as well be called the Bayernliga. Only PSG (Ligue 1 because it's basically a 1 team league) have an easier time strolling through the season. Pep will be in for a fight week in week out. He's never had to face that before.

Which brings me back to Jose. He has something to prove which United will as well. He would bring the us vs the world mentality and the players may buy into that. I feel the next manager needs that in common with the players. With LVG it seems like the boys are on their own during the match. He does not adapt his style or plan and is too rigid for me. I always responded to managers that were passionate and a manager on the touch line once in a while can inspire effort and sometimes a result you don't necessarily deserve. Especially with younger players. If LVG's plan fails we drop points every time it's that simple. In this league, leaders have to grind some wins out despite the plan.

I'm not on the sack LVG during the season bandwagon, even if the remaining results don't go our way, but I feel he has taken the team as far as he can and should be asked to leave at seasons end. Sacking managers mid season often backfires. I appreciate the work LVG has done with youth and he has built a good foundation while clearing out some underachievers and veterans who were no longer up to it. That took a very strong character which LVG is but the next manager needs to lead and inspire. As for Giggs, he would have been to close to former players to clean house and attract top talent until he proved himself. I don't feel he's ready for the job just yet.

I'm trying hard to think of a better fit than Jose at this point in time. His appointment would worry the league and his counter attacking/ defensive style is closer to SAF's than LVG's possession philosophy. He is a big admirer or both Stones and Bale who would be my top two targets. He could also possibly recruit players like Varane or Benzema from Real (I expect Pep to go after Neymar/ Messi and Busquets)
Jose's record of winning titles speaks for itself and I feel he understands the history and importance of managing United. No disrespect to Chelsea but Jose knows he will never become bigger than this club. If he's learned from this seasons mistakes and has a point to prove I wouldn't bet against him turning things around.

Jose to United should've happened post Fergie. It's happening now so let's be thankful. And anyone who thinks Jose is not the man then who else is?

We need someone with Premier League / La Liga / Serie A and Champs League winning experience. And Ancelotti has already signed his Bayern contract.

Jose will attract the big names as well as bring a winning brand of football. It may not be pure attack attack attack but it's effective and Chelsea actually played some great stuff last season before the Spurs heavy defeat. After that Jose switched tactics and became more defensive but he had the points in the bag to be able to do that. Jose has proved again in key games he's a master tactician. I'm amazed he's not being welcomed with open arms given the position we are in.

Anyone see Martial setting up Giroud for a tap in v Germany? Amazing strength and dribbling skill. So glad United scouted this kid. He's looking so dangerous every time I watch him.

Hope everyone in that stadium gets home safely, shocking what's going on over there.

Absolutely sickening.

Nearly impossible to comprehend. It's a crazy world we live in. Due to the insane actions of these fanatical lunatics today in Paris there are children without parents and parents that have lost children its completely lunacy. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

4.) 14 Nov 2015 18:26:59
Terrible, horrific events. My thoughts go out to the victims and their families. Some truly shocking scenes.
My Mum was is to be going to Paris next week with her Husband for her Birthday. They both still want to go. As my Mum put it: I won't let those bleep bleep bleep - you get the picture.

Just wanted to mention Marital's bit of skill yesterday for the goal. It was a bit of magic. The guy is a true natural talent.

A little disappointed that we couldn't take advantage of Silva and Aguero missing in this one. I was happy with the team LVG selected and thought we would give them more problems. Rooney for me has to be dropped. I'm a fan but his first touch is terrible and his positioning and movement opens up no space whatsoever. Rooney usually responds to adversity so I would drop him and see if that lights a fire in him. Martial again impressed and should play up top. I thought Rojo especially and Smalling were solid again. Schneiderlin was steady as usual and should be a must start each work along with Herrera. That penalty being awarded would have made for a more exciting derby. For me it was a clear foul. Not a terrible result but I feel we let a golden opportunity pass with a draw.

Long time reader, first time poster so take it easy on me.

Love the site. Been telling fellow UTD supporters about it for years. Shout out to the Eds and posters for quality info and banter. Here goes.

Gutted with the result v Arsenal over the weekend. Two weeks away doesn't help but we will survive. We can bounce back and learn from this IF LVG adapts moving forward, makes changes where necessary and players accept responsibility for their poor play.

We need to dictate the tempo of a game much earlier than we have been. It's like a boxing match where we only start swinging in round three or four. Against Arsenal, it's like we didn't swing or keep our guard up. No question we got knocked out.

We have the skill to attack without sacrificing our formation or tactics. I worry when we go a goal down let alone two or three. Our style is not suited to coming from behind or chasing games. One goal is not insurmountable but we need to take some chances early on.

We also need to drop anyone for continuous poor form. Regardless of how much we paid or what they have done in the past. If they are true competitors they will learn from this and fight for their place. Healthy competition will only make them better. No consequences for poor play will only make them complacent. Drop Rooney, Memphis and play either Carrick/Schweinsteiger. Not both at the same time. Start Herrera in place of Rooney, Schneiderlin with Carrick/Schweinsteiger and Young or Pereira in place of Memphis. Watching from the side must have them chomping at the bit for their chance. The same can happen for Rooney and Memphis given a break. It doesn't mean they aren't capable but they need to be held accountable for poor play. Rooney is a legend in my book and Memphis will come good I'm quite sure of that. On current form I would not drop Mata.

I initially didn't want to break up Smalling and Blind since they started out strong together but I'm starting to think Blind should move to left back given Shaw's injury (shame because he was starting to nail down his place as a top LB in the league and it totally disrupted our back line). Jones should partner Smalling since they both have the size and positional awareness to cope. Hopefully Jones stays healthy. In January, we look to bring in another CB if available. Darmian had a nightmare against Sanchez but on this form I'm not sure anyone can stop him. Although, slowing him down a little would have helped. Darmian is still a must start for me.

Martial is un-droppable at the moment and I could not be happier with his play. His composure, patience, intelligence and calmness are exceptional. He glides past defenders and seems to make the smart play almost every time. United great in the making at this pace.

We cannot expect to win every game but we need to show we can adapt and learn from our failures. We have a system that I feel can work if properly executed. It's not the style I grew up loving and watching under Sir Alex but it can work. Losing happens but getting played off the park should not. This season is still wide open. Everyone will drop points and we are right where we need to be to make a run. Tough games coming up but to be the best you have to beat the best.

GGMU.

Laters.

First hello MT.

I can't disagree with much of that mate tbh.

Martial has been a revelation for us since he came in, he looks a top talent and I'm excited to see how well he develops.

Maybe we could put Jones at RB, Darmain at left and keep our back line playing together?

2.) 06 Oct 2015 23:10:58
Good post and welcome to the site.

3.) 07 Oct 2015 10:13:37
For me the defence going forward should be Darmian - Smalling - Jones - Blind. I don't rate Jones but he is quite physical, something Blind isn't.

4.) 07 Oct 2015 11:09:54
It seems like there are plenty of options but all of them are a real step down from the defense with Shaw in it.

The way we won things in the past was by replacing quality with quality and our squad isn't quite strong enough for that yet, or at least there are too many unanswered questions which come with young players and new players.

One of those unanswered questions is McNair. He looked quite promising last season so I'd be tempted to give him some games in central defense and play Blind at left back.

Classy move by the official PSV fan club creating a banner for Luke Shaw. "Get well soon Luke Shaw". Nice one.

Neymar for me. Messi has nothing left to prove in club football but Neymar, even if he leaves Barcelona may feel like he'll always be in Messi and Ronaldo's shadow. That drive could raise his game to new heights. That being said, I still think Bale is made for United. The fear factor he brings, Giggs comparisons, shirt sales, feel good story coming back to the UK and next United potential legend etc. Not saying he's better than those three just that i think he's better suited to the EPL and United.
