Hypothetical question.

It looks as though one of Messi or Neymar will be leaving Barcelona at some point in the near future. Of the two, Messi is probably more likely as the club look to Neymar to take on the mantle as the main man. But equally, Neymar may want to distance himself from Messi to become the best player in the world and to step out of his shadow.

So of the two, which would you sign (if it was at all possible) .

For me, it's Neymar. Mainly because he is 23, has played in Spain so probably would stay here for many years and has that drive to become the best player in the world like Cristiano did.

Thoughts?

Messi because he is better than Neymar and better than what Neymar ever will be. It would be great to say 'yeah those two superhuman phenomenons Messi and Ronaldo, they both played for Manchester United'.

Neither will ever happen though. If Messi ever leaves he will follow the money (PSG or something to that effect) and Neymar wouldn't fancy getting his metrosexual modelling body damaged in the PL for fear he may lose out on some adverts.

I'd take Naymar, one of the Eds eluded to Messi being a fairly difficult person who's public persona doesn't match his actual personality. Naymar will be hungrier and to be fair once he leaves Bace it leaves very little options of where he can go to achieve his goal. If we got him you would assume we would have him for a long time.

I'm sure when Barcelona broke the law to get Neymar they assumed he would be at the Camp Nou for a very long time. I can't see him going anywhere. Good player and marketing machine.

Not a fan of his constant play acting, and I think he could be a bit soft for this league but Neymar is a top player without doubt and he has an advantage over messi with his age, I'm not sure on spending big money on one player that might not fit the system, like Di maria.
If only we could clone martial and play him in all positions across the front 3! Saw a stat today that he has the second highest amount of take ons in the league which is incredible as he joined us on deadline day.

Neymar for me. Messi has nothing left to prove in club football but Neymar, even if he leaves Barcelona may feel like he'll always be in Messi and Ronaldo's shadow. That drive could raise his game to new heights. That being said, I still think Bale is made for United. The fear factor he brings, Giggs comparisons, shirt sales, feel good story coming back to the UK and next United potential legend etc. Not saying he's better than those three just that i think he's better suited to the EPL and United.
