Hi Ed’s

I appreciate it may well be too early to say, but with CoronaVirus making a significant impact to revenues for football clubs how will this impact with FFP?

Obviously clubs revenue streams will be reduced even if they don’t have to return tv money etc, gate receipts and merchandise sales must be reduced significantly. Even over a 2 month period or so I would imagine it will have a significant impact on revenue.

When looking at FFP in the future will clubs be given a pass for this year or will clubs still need to show a balanced budget?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - There will be a period of relief from FFP and at some point there will be some sort of pro rata calculator created. Clubs involved should not abuse this little break - a few are close to. Toppling in to a major issue.}

Chris Smalling possibly the worst defender ever to make it to 100 games for United . Discuss! (Btw I think he should never have worn the shirt and never should again really don't get the love in he CANNOT defend)

RedBear, Smalling is not a starter, definitely not.
But Smalling can only play one position that is right side of defense. He's playing left and he's struggling.
Jose is not getting the tactics right at the moment and playing wrong teams.
And he publically lashed out on lingard and mkhi.
Jose needs to calm down, and if possible bring back CBJ from loan.
Basti needs to brought back in the team and Rojo needs to be booted to the reserves.

Totally agree. Have said for ages that he is more suited to wrestling or some other martial art. Always more interested in getting the man rather than doing something constructive with the ball.

Hi all.

If been reading the site for years and occasionally contributing, and water to throw in my two pennies worth on the way we are playing.

People talk about tempo and to a certain extent I would agree with this being one of our biggest issues but I think it also relates to purpose. I would suggest we still get into many of the same positions we used to but aren't making the most of these positions. It use to be that at units of the ball got passed the edge of the box down the outside you knew the ball was going to be delivered into the box, ditto for being in space 20 odd yards out you knew a shot was coming.

Now we seem determined to pass the ball back out when we get into good crossing areas (or trying a ball across the box at ground level with rubbish delivery and picking out the first defender)

I think this has exacerbated th issue we have of lack of movement up fit as half he time out players don't know if and when the ball is likely to come in and takes so long to get there and space is close down.

We seem to have been caught up in the new trend to walk the ball into the net!

Interested to hear others views on this. Most goals area scored these days on the counter or when teams are out of position, but our players seem so scared of loosing the ball by attempting the killer pass or cross that we take so long to do anything with it that defences have plenty of time to get settled.

An apology about the poor state of English in my post. It was rather long and I didn't give it a proper check over. I think you can just about get the gist though.

Really don’t get people saying Smalling is our 3rd or 4th choice defender. He’s by far our worst! His passing is dreadful, his heading is shocking and my grandma who is six feet under has better positional sense. Promoted way above his ability. He should never have left non-league!

Bailly is ten times better. People slate him based on one game against PSG when he was picked at RIGHT back!

I’d rather play Jones than Smalling! For me Rojo and Smalling should be the 2 defenders out the door! But maybe that’s just me.

I’m not sure we can expect to return to “normal” any time soon.

There will be a long “phased return” across business and industry over I can imagine at least a 6-12 month period. That’s if we ever get back to “normalcy”.

A large number of business who have previously said employees can’t work from home as it wouldn’t work for business will no longer have those arguments!

I’m genuinely not sure we will ever see a return to what was the previous norm. A new normalcy will rise out of the ashes of this pandemic.

Maybe a dim word view, but I just don’t see any quick fix.

Not sure the TFM contract extension has anything to do with him being involved in match days. Probably more along the lines of the club have invested a fair bit of money in his development and in all likelihood could still get some return if they can shift him before the start of next season.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he was already being hawked off to the highest bidder behind the scenes!

Rather sell Smalling -walking penalty case and keep Jones personally. Smalling is dire!

I think the most telling aspect to come out of the game was that bravo will cost city more points this year than he saves them. He cannot catch crosses. I can't wait to see him against the likes of Stoke!

{Ed041's Note - also united we're utter tripe for 4 mind and could of easily got at least a point.
