Have wonder what Newcastle fan are thinking, sold top players last for big money, Gordon gone to Barcelona and runours about United in for Tonali and Hall. Personally prefer Fernandez to Tonali, better longterm option and would fit in quickly with the other Portuguese lads too. A good window could really propell back to contending again.

My guess is that they're feeling dejected. They probably thought that the arrival of oil money would turn them into serious, perennial contenders. Unfortunately for them, whatever money they may have behind them, the club itself - given past PSR and now squad cost restrictions - doesn't generate enough revenue to compete for, and then hold on to, top players, so they have to sell.
Result: it's hard to become anything other than a mid-table team.
