My initial reaction to SJR was completely pessimistic. Now. Some optimism is growing. A potential part owner expressing a desire to take over football operations. Rumours of Paul Mitchell. Long term complete ownership.

We would have taken this a year ago before we knew of any other potential investor. Indeed people were calling for SJR.

Maybe, just maybe, he is the right path.

Can’t see how he’d get control of anything with 25%. We all know what the glazers are like so unless it’s nailed on in contracts I wouldn’t believe anything they say if I were him.

He’s not going to invest on the basis of a verbal agreement or handshake is he. Of course it will be an iron tight signed contract.

We have to see what is released post Thursday's board meeting assuming this is just to ratify the deal.
SJR will need to quickly set out his plans otherwise the club and fans could see this get toxic very quickly (more so than it currently is) .
I would assume that there will be written agreements that will give him and his team control of running the football side of things (I am sure there will be certain things like budgets that the Glazers will need to sign off on but they will want this side to be successful to grow the value of the club) . All this whilst the Glazer side and potentially the likes of Richard Arnold concentrate on the commercial non footballing side of the business to grow that.
For me I want to hear about the plans for the debt (approaching £1bn), the ground and training facilities. Phased removal of trhe Glazers and timetable. What support will be offered to the current management team to bring players in in January and next summer. Will there be a connection between us and the other clubs owned by SJR as part of a sporting structure like the Red Bull teams.
As a fan base we need communication, that has been lacking during the Glazer ownership.

Tim this is very typical of how buyouts of global corporations start. SJR is far from an idiot.

I’m sure he isn’t, but the glazers are a different sort as we all know.

Glazers still involved so its a NO from me!

The Glazers remain, that is unacceptable. After what they have done to the club there should be no acceptance of them continuing.

Problem is RedMan much like the Glazers we have no input or say, we’re only lowly supporters, so it will just be a case of suck it and see, unfortunately

My experience of multiple owners in business is a recipe for disaster, will all start of like house on fire, then the problems start to fester, some are saying great SJR will run the sporting side…LOL if anyone thinks SJR is investing just for the sporting side and not for the commercial viability is sadly sadly mistaken

United is a commercial vehicle, bigger than Chelsea so even better for SJR or do you think he wanted Chelsea for the sporting side too!

Least with the Glazers only they are on same page, not a page we like but the same page add SJR ego, decisions and Ineos to that and we are in for a very bumpy ride, if nothing else should be better to watch then the football we are serving up atm…add Brailsford to that and boy it’s going to be fun!

Maybe someone in hiding yet to show their hand for a full takeover is lurking! I doubt Jassim gone yet. Or is that wishful thinking!

I agree Red Man. But you can huff and puff but you will never blow their house in Tampa down. Supporters can rebel. Get matches postponed. Still don’t see them caring. They have no empathy for supporter unhappiness. Only route for them to go is through a commercial transaction of their liking. SJR is best hope of that at moment.

Jassim screwed it up big time. Spoke about bringing past glories back (indirect insult) . He spoke about spending money on other factors (ground, community etc. ) before agreeing a deal to actually buy the club. Again stupid. Revealed he has enough money to up bid. But didn’t. We know a great deal about SJR but little about Jassim and his ‘backers’. Time to be realistic. We may have dodged a bullet. We’ll never know most likely. I’m not a ‘Glazer puppet’ or an advocate for them in anyway. I’m just being a realist.

The Glazers are toxic. Extremely. But they are equally savvy. It will take an equally savvy person to get them out and it may take time.

They own most of the club they will decide what is acceptable to them for the sale of their shares. Nobody else has a say on what's acceptable to them.
