A lot has been made of the Lingard stuff and rightly so, the way we've handled that situation since he came back from West Ham has been the height of incompetence from board and manager.

But the Cavani situation is pretty ridiculous tbh, this guy basically picks and chooses which games he wants to play for us. How can a club of Our stature accept that and go on like its acceptable.

Multiple times cavani has been decalred fit by the medical team and has decided he's not “up for it”

When he plays he's been largely a net positive to the side but sad to see player power so rampant at the club even under a new manager.

Let’s hope he’s on a pay as you play deal. The whole situation is ridiculous. If a normal person tried this more than once they’d be sacked, yet somebody earning hundreds of thousands a week can repeatedly slack off with very few consequences. I like Edi and think he’s a top player, but he seems to be taking advantage of the terrible state of affairs at the club.

Cavani struggles with fitness, I think the club allow him slightly more time when traveling back from South America to try and reduce the pressures on his body and limit the chances of him suffering an injury. I don't think there is much more to it than that.

Cavani also wanted and could have left in the summer, I'm not saying he's doing us a favour but I would imagine the club agreed a little bit of leeway with Cavani going back to Uruguay. To be honest, it doesn't bother me to much with Cavani because you see what you get out of him when he is back so I don't believe he's one to take advantage of the situation. IMO, he's a top professional.

But how does that link with the other times he's been deemed fit by the medical staff but has decided its not convenient for him to participate or contribute for the club shappy?

All we hear about on this forum from you and others is signing players with the right attitude and commitment for the club especially when talking about pogba, rashford, lingard, martial etc.

Yet here is a clear example of a player who basically choose when its convenient for him to do his job that he's paid for and no one bats an eyelid. Very odd in my opinion.

Lingard didn't seem to have any interest in leaving in the summer which shows the character of the man. I called him a coward on and off the pitch a few years ago and got pelters. He should have jumped at the opportunity to go to West ham.
I have zero love for Lingard, I think he's been a terrible ambassador for the club and should have been gone years ago. But as we've seen, we've been too happy to reward mediocrity so you get average players on huge wages who are difficult to shift. There are a number of players who lack any ambition hence why we're struggling on the pitch.

Ken wrote a good post yesterday. The outgoings over the next 18 months give a new manager a clean slate to work with. It could be perceived as a monumental task or it could be seen as a blessing.

As for Cavani, be is a fan favourite and his work on the pitch is infectious, but he's one of those players who seems to get better when he doesn't play. When he starts he's actually been quite anonymous. He shouldn't really be missed tonight so this is a non issue.

Mumbles, totally agree re Lingard. He's a poisonous influence at the club. He feeds the media with all the pathetic articles, then we see him plastered all over the back pages showing him behind bars and saying he's a prisoner. It is the height of the horrible nature of this man. And as you rightly said, he'd gone for over a year, didn't score a goal or assist, and we reward him with a new contract!
Maybe we don't understand the ins and outs of running a football club, but several on here have run successful businesses and had successful careers, and I can't work out the incompetence of the people running the club. They seem to throw money around like confetti and generally waste hundreds of millions on ridiculously bad decisions.

AAA, I remember watching a pre season tour when Rashford was only coming on the scene and he talked about how all the young players look up to Jlingz because he has top bantz. I'm 34, I'm not moaning about the youth being youthful. But that was Lingard being an academy graduate in his mid 20s and he was calling himself the joker in the squad.

Starting his fashion label between a double header with Barcelona and a big game against Everton.

His antics on the bus at the last game against West ham at Upton park. The bus is getting bombarded with missles, fans surrounding it and he's laying on the ground videotaping himself pretending to be scared. We lost that game and top 4 was lost.

Loads of incidents accumulating over years of him being quite poor. 18 months playing as the jewel in the United crown behind the striker and he didn't register and goal or an assist and then decided to blame off field issues. Though I am sympathetic to ones personal endeavours, just focus on your football then.

DSG, has he though? I can't remember any reports that he has refused to play or ruled himself out.

Pretty much every time he has travelled to South America he has been given a little extra time.

I'd imagine if he was declared fit but refused to play he'd have been shipped out like Martial was in January. RR doesn't seem to buy into that. If you aren't going to play for the team then your gone.

Where are you hearing that Cavani has bee passed fit but refused to play from?

Spot on. I got vilified yesterday for calling lingard and pogba a cancer at the club and we need mass clear out. Is there any player if definitely keep. No is the honest amswer. People claim Ronaldo has upset the dressing room and football. We were botlers before he came. He's upset a few with his professionalism in training etc I would think. Mctominlay seems a good character but is he good enough. Squad player maybe . I can't wait to see back of pogba lingard, I'd get rid of rashford to. More interested in tattoos and politics.

Agree with majority, get Lingard and his social media nonsense out my club! Sick of him.
