Di marzio reporting that we are finally in negotiations with fiorentina for amrabat. Not sure if that's accurate but we can live in hope.

Another player ten hag has already coached. Shock horror. Surely there are better options available. Utds recruitment team are so far off the mark it has to be questioned.

We seem to have moved from Woodward buying glitz to giving all power to ETH to choose players he has to be comfortable with from his past. When is someone going to grab hold of our transfers and put round pegs in round holes? Why have we been allowed to start the season with no striker goal scorer available? Why do we have only one striker and we don’t yet know how good he is? Why is our central midfield not been strengthened? Why has central defence not been added to?

Then I question selling Alvaro Fernandez. Why is Antony not under pressure and sitting on the bench when he doesn’t perform?

We need to have some answers on the sale of the club. Need a change at the top in the boardroom and in the structure. The Greenwood situation was poorly handled. For a business with such a high turnover it looks to be run by amateurs. It is a shambles.

My biggest worry is we don’t sign anybody for midfield and then Casemiro gets injured. He’s older now and can’t play every game anyways, add that to his disciplinary record and he could miss quite a few games. Why aren’t we planning for things like that? You look at our squad depth chart and he’s literally it for CDM.

Even With a starting 11 of all the best players ETH has coached in the past can't see us winning any major trophies if we play like this. Very very poor so far.

Why even did Ten buy Antony, when he knew all about him and hoe one dimensional he is, he had 3 years of Ten coaching now, how bad was here when he first arrived in Ajax! Ten does seem to have a few weird ideas, perhaps he sees something in the purchases… but when is it coming to winning games let alone in style.

I really don’t get this Anthony bashing. He’s performed well in his first season, he’s a hard worker, he tracks back, he’s good on the ball, he’s got a great shot and he got quite a few goals last season. The front three in general hasn’t been firing and that’s not Anthony’s fault. He gets in good positions and his final product has let him down a little bit at times, but for a young lad coming into a new league I think he’s done very well.

I think he’s been let down by the lack of quality behind him. If you look at Liverpool and City for example their wide players are well supported by the full backs in the final third and they draw players to them with overlapping runs. Anthony is doubled up on down that side because either the overlap is none existent or when it does come the attackers know Wan Bissaka or Dalot are just not that much of a threat. He’s been heavily demonised by the media (as usual for United players) and it seems far too many fans are being influenced by what they’re saying.

Ten Haag knows what he’s being asked to do and I think he’s happy with what he sees on the pitch. There’s few players out there who can take on two or more defenders, even Salah and Mahrez require help from their team mates but far too often Anthony is being left isolated and either forced to cut in or pas back to midfield.

I think when Hojlund comes in it will hopefully draw more players to the centre of the pitch as from the limited footage I’ve seen of him he’s a handful and has good movement. I think if we were to get a quality RB who could attack as well it would really open up the game for Anthony and we would see what he’s really capable of. Give Ten Haag time.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and last season we finished 3rd and got to two finals winning one and Anthony was a key part of that. I’m amazed that people are here doubting the manager and his signings after 2 games considering where we were under Ragnick not 18 months ago and where Ten Haag brought us to last season. Seriously guys lighten up and trust the manager. He know exactly what he’s doing.

Well we’ve won 1 out of 2 so far, fingers crossed we get another win today or the meltdown on here will be horrendous.

I don’t listen to the press only my own eyes, I agree with you that Antony turns back, lots or just passes inside that’s because he is so easy to play against and a one trick pony, last season 2 assist from a wide player is atrocious if your happy with that and his contribution, we are going to struggle, last year he was an unknown, and opposing manager thought he cost 80 million he must be good now it’s know he only got 1 foot and can’t cross he in big trouble.
If we wanted a worker who can’t cross a ball can’t use right foot, not got great speed and got awful sulk most the time is also petulant, that player should not be playing for united, but Ten is being stubborn and don’t want to admit this purchase was a mistake, yes we got 3rd last year, but did you really see a good performance and how much of that was down to poor other teams! All we seem to achieved so far is more confusion and are the new players any better then what they are replacing.

As I mentioned in a post on the discussion page the fact that ETH is pulling from players he knows is that we do not have a well functioning scouting and recruitment network any more. It all fell apart during Woodward's stint in charge.

I will go one further. SAF was great manager but he was essentially a British manager who recruited best from British and Northern European teams, Ronaldo was an exception. and of course he also had the most financial resources. United's decline coincides with the globalization of talent and money. The Glazer's inability to hire the right people, to make structural changes to adjust to the new realities have left it bereft. The scouting and recruitment deficit is just another part of the malaise, leaving Ten Hag the only person with any real say so.

Ed002 do we need more departures before we can get Arambat? I don’t know why we haven’t already bought him. He’s a good price, he wants to come with us and they want to sell him. He’s training on his own and not in their European squad. What are we waiting for?
We also had a lot more outgoings than players in.

{Ed002's Note - It is not really like that - there will be additions and departures.

Ok thanks Ed. It's worrying that they leave it so late when the deal for Arambat seems an easy compared to others.

I think people are making far too much out of nothing with this idea that EtH only signs players he has worked with before.

Currently the club have signed 8 players under EtH, of which only three have played for EtH previously (Martinez, Antony and Onana) . While the likes of Casemiro, Mount, Eriksen, Malacia and Højlund never played for him previously.

While United also signed both Weghorst and Sabitzer on loan last January. Again two players who had never played for EtH previously.

So that's 3 out of 10 signings, currently who had actually played for EtH previously.

The next signing most likely looks like Bayindir the Turkish keeper who is another who has never played for EtH.

We have also been linked with both Cucurella and Regulion as emergency cover options at LB, again neither have played with EtH previously.

We have also reportedly short listed Todibo, Pavard and Tapsoba as a possible signing at CB if Maguire leaves. Again three players who have no history of playing for EtH.

While the club have been linked with Gravenberch, Amrabat and Thuram as possible midfield signings, which fair enough 2 of those three have played for EtH previously.

Yet even if we did sign one of Amrabat or Gravenberch along with say Cucurella and Bayindir between now and the close of the window. Then that would still only be 4 out of 13 players being former players for the manager. That's 30% of the players signed would be players with a history of playing for him previously.

I think this is being made out to be a much bigger thing that it is.

Most managers sign a few former players during their careers.

Moyes signed Fellaini. Which equates to 50% of his signings being a former player.

LvG signed Blind, Depay, Schweinsteiger and Romero. Which is 30% of his singings.

Jose signed Matic and Lukaku. Which represents 20% of his signings.

Ole is the anomaly, although that's not surprising given he only managed Molde and Cardiff previously. Although ironically the one former player he did try to sign and failed is probably the only player we that all United fans would unanimously want, Erling Haaland.

Currently EtH has signed Martinez, Antony and Onana. Which is around 30% of his current signings.

This highlights that for the most part former United managers over the past decade have signed signed former players between 20 and 50 percent of the time.

So we have gone from criticising the club for buying playing randomly by their name, we finally have a manager who has taken charge and now we’re criticising the club for buying players he wants! Jesus some on here!

I think you will find they are saying players he had under him or knows from Dutch league, not just players he personally managed, but he see week in week out, which is not a problem, but he should know if they are good enough, I think Ten under estimated the premier, no other excuse for signing Antony, Onana is too early to judge, Martinez yes far better then we had, but would he really get in Arsenal team or City team I doubt even Liverpool team, I’m not convinced he would, but much better then we had so that’s fine, Mount not really better then what we had or got, plus not exactly a position we need, Malacia no better then we had, Hoijberg, no idea yet! So best signings he made are Cas and Eriksen the others you mention at this time are pie in the sky names that no one knows if correct or not, so your listing distorted numbers Shappy.
