Hi Ed

Are any clubs still interested in Harry Maguire?
Or does it seem he will most likely be staying?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer most likely questions but it will be difficult to find a buyer.

Maybe Maguire can be converted into a makeshift CF! Can't be less impactful that Wout Wontscore.

Send him to train with the under 21’s, he is a liability when he is on the pitch and so keeping him with the first team and adding him to match day squads is pointless.

He thinks far too much of his own playing ability and needs to come back to planet earth. He never was that good, he still isn’t that good and he never will be that good. He should have gone to West Ham when he had the chance. He would have started every week and made the England squads still no doubt. I can’t see him making the Euro’s next summer now. No loss for England.

Agree with Brendan 100%. the fact that we let players like Maguire dictate terms is embarassing and a major reason why we are so bad at selling.

The only thing Maguire is useful for would be if we buried him up to the neck outside Old Trafford and offered up a photo opportunity £5 a time with one of the Easter Island heads?‍♂️?.

I had nothing against him. It wasn’t his fault we signed him, made him captain and paid him far more than he is worth. However, he isn’t good enough and should have done all possible to move this summer. It seems he was offered money by United to facilitate said move and West Ham were seemingly very interested. It would have been a very good move all round. Who knows why he turned it down.

Thanks Ed

Quite disappointing tbh.

I don’t agree with all the criticism he’s getting. He’s never been a fantastic cb and being at Utd, the expectations of him are beyond his capabilities.

But he certainly doesn’t help himself. Go somewhere where you can get your confidence back and be a starter. His ego is going to be the death of him.

Terrible signing at a redicilous price who has been mismanaged (made captain) and then put on a massive salary (undeserved ) that is going to be near impossible for other clubs to match. As much as we all want him gone it's the clubs fault at least as much as it's his in fairness.

I can probably take a wild guess and think of 15 million reasons why he didn't go.

He’s another leech like Phil Jones. He’ll see his contract out now and bleed out the rest of his career. I just hope that Southgate see’s him off.

I think that is unfair on Phil Jones. He was a player who gave his all for the club every time he went out on the pitch. He'd put his body on the line and he was a great professional. Spoke well for the club, never threw anyone under the bus, took responsibility, and has been a dedicated professional. He has also shown himself to be a very good player when fit, and was first choice under Moyes, LvG, Jose and Ole when he was fit. A fully fit and on form Phil Jones would push Varane for the starting position in my opinion.

Sadly injuries have absolutely done the poor lad. He just couldn't stay fit long enough to get a real run in the side. I don't blame him for signing the last contract the club offered him. I'm sure he signed it in good faith, wanting and hoping he would be fit enough to play regularly enough.

As far as I'm aware no one ever came in for him or tried to sign him. So his only option was to stay at United, work hard and try and recover to get back into the team. It didn't happen, and his contract is up and he's now a free agent.

I wish him the best and hope that he can find another club and he can get fit enough to play some football for the remaining few years left in his career. I hope he isn't forced to retire as that would be a sad end to an unfulfilled career blighted by injury.

Maybe when he does retire he might go into coaching, maybe he'll get a second chance to have a career in football in the form of management. Or maybe he'll just move on to something else. Either way I wish him the best of luck. I would never compare him to Harry Maguire, Jones on one leg is still twice the player Maguire will ever be.

The thing is Phil Jones pulled some great comedy faces.

Harry has yet to do anything so useful.

Always thought many of Phil Jones injuries he caused himself letting the ball get away from him and then needlessly (and often dangerously) over stretching to try and get it back.

My point stands with Phil Jones. Injuries aside, he could have chosen to play football, but declined the opportunity. Now that he’s left we’re getting all nostalgic, fact is he was ultimately useless.

Not on the money or anywhere near the money he was getting at United he couldnt.
