Hi Ed

Any news on the departures of donny and mctominay?

Are there any potential moves with them or do they look to be staying.

Thanks.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - Nothing new - the club would be happy to move both on.}

1.) 31 Aug 2023 23:46:48
Thanks for the response Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 01 Sep 2023 07:22:24
Maybe the club shouldn't have turned down West Hams bid for McTominay.

3.) 01 Sep 2023 09:07:46
Looks like Fulham could be a destination for him with Bayern circling around Palinha?

4.) 01 Sep 2023 09:32:02
I am also getting a feel this transfer will not happen. its been there and talked about for a long time. The club wanting a loan with no obligation to buy does not feel, it is a must do deal for us.

I can understand for FFP reasons, we want a loan atm but the fact that we do not want to follow through next year and make it a permanent move, makes me doubt the deal will get done.

Anyways last day of this madness today and looking kind of forward to arsenal game but not very optimistic on the outcome.

Hope we move a few players on today, we are stuck in the mud with players hanging around that need to go and clean slate for them and the club.

Finally Ed002 Thank you for all your input and still the most accurate guy on this stuff, hope you will enjoy some peace and quite for few days after today.

Hi Ed

Are any clubs still interested in Harry Maguire?
Or does it seem he will most likely be staying?

Thanks.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer most likely questions but it will be difficult to find a buyer.

1.) 23 Aug 2023 16:00:52
Maybe Maguire can be converted into a makeshift CF! Can't be less impactful that Wout Wontscore.

2.) 23 Aug 2023 16:01:04
Send him to train with the under 21’s, he is a liability when he is on the pitch and so keeping him with the first team and adding him to match day squads is pointless.

He thinks far too much of his own playing ability and needs to come back to planet earth. He never was that good, he still isn’t that good and he never will be that good. He should have gone to West Ham when he had the chance. He would have started every week and made the England squads still no doubt. I can’t see him making the Euro’s next summer now. No loss for England.

3.) 23 Aug 2023 16:48:47
I take it that your a big Harry Maguire fan Brendan81?

4.) 23 Aug 2023 17:01:20
Agree with Brendan 100%. the fact that we let players like Maguire dictate terms is embarassing and a major reason why we are so bad at selling.

5.) 23 Aug 2023 17:05:32
The only thing Maguire is useful for would be if we buried him up to the neck outside Old Trafford and offered up a photo opportunity £5 a time with one of the Easter Island heads?‍♂️?.

6.) 23 Aug 2023 17:14:22
I had nothing against him. It wasn’t his fault we signed him, made him captain and paid him far more than he is worth. However, he isn’t good enough and should have done all possible to move this summer. It seems he was offered money by United to facilitate said move and West Ham were seemingly very interested. It would have been a very good move all round. Who knows why he turned it down.

7.) 23 Aug 2023 17:28:57
Thanks Ed

Quite disappointing tbh.

I don’t agree with all the criticism he’s getting. He’s never been a fantastic cb and being at Utd, the expectations of him are beyond his capabilities.

But he certainly doesn’t help himself. Go somewhere where you can get your confidence back and be a starter. His ego is going to be the death of him.

8.) 23 Aug 2023 18:01:46
Terrible signing at a redicilous price who has been mismanaged (made captain) and then put on a massive salary (undeserved ) that is going to be near impossible for other clubs to match. As much as we all want him gone it's the clubs fault at least as much as it's his in fairness.

9.) 23 Aug 2023 18:10:03
I can probably take a wild guess and think of 15 million reasons why he didn't go.

10.) 23 Aug 2023 19:09:51
He’s another leech like Phil Jones. He’ll see his contract out now and bleed out the rest of his career. I just hope that Southgate see’s him off.

11.) 24 Aug 2023 10:27:41
I think that is unfair on Phil Jones. He was a player who gave his all for the club every time he went out on the pitch. He'd put his body on the line and he was a great professional. Spoke well for the club, never threw anyone under the bus, took responsibility, and has been a dedicated professional. He has also shown himself to be a very good player when fit, and was first choice under Moyes, LvG, Jose and Ole when he was fit. A fully fit and on form Phil Jones would push Varane for the starting position in my opinion.

Sadly injuries have absolutely done the poor lad. He just couldn't stay fit long enough to get a real run in the side. I don't blame him for signing the last contract the club offered him. I'm sure he signed it in good faith, wanting and hoping he would be fit enough to play regularly enough.

As far as I'm aware no one ever came in for him or tried to sign him. So his only option was to stay at United, work hard and try and recover to get back into the team. It didn't happen, and his contract is up and he's now a free agent.

I wish him the best and hope that he can find another club and he can get fit enough to play some football for the remaining few years left in his career. I hope he isn't forced to retire as that would be a sad end to an unfulfilled career blighted by injury.

Maybe when he does retire he might go into coaching, maybe he'll get a second chance to have a career in football in the form of management. Or maybe he'll just move on to something else. Either way I wish him the best of luck. I would never compare him to Harry Maguire, Jones on one leg is still twice the player Maguire will ever be.

12.) 24 Aug 2023 11:34:46
The thing is Phil Jones pulled some great comedy faces.

Harry has yet to do anything so useful.

13.) 24 Aug 2023 13:55:47
Always thought many of Phil Jones injuries he caused himself letting the ball get away from him and then needlessly (and often dangerously) over stretching to try and get it back.

14.) 24 Aug 2023 22:17:34
My point stands with Phil Jones. Injuries aside, he could have chosen to play football, but declined the opportunity. Now that he’s left we’re getting all nostalgic, fact is he was ultimately useless.

15.) 24 Aug 2023 23:39:02
Not on the money or anywhere near the money he was getting at United he couldnt.

25 Jul 2023 13:33:17
Hi ed002,

Sorry for disturbing you.
If I may, could you give us any update on amrabat and Hojlund?

Seems things are accelerating but ofc it could just be tabloids.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - Sofyan Amrabat (DM/CM) Fiorentina were expecting to lose money on a sale but an excellent World Cup has changed that. Spurs contacted Fiorentina through a third party to take him as an Ndombele replacement in the summer, and Liverpool, Barcelona and Nice have had scouts watch him and have spoken with his representatives, but seemingly not Fiorentina yet. His repressentatives walked out on a discussion with Liverpool due to something Klopp said in January and if they wish to revive interest they will need to resolve that, which seems unlikely and the player has made it clear he has no interest in joining Liverpool now. Fiorentina reported Barcelona for making a direct approach to Amrabat in January but they have patched things up and something may be possible, albeit unlikely. Agent has spoken with Arsenal and Chelsea as well. The player says he wants to move to Manchester United, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid and I understand that Atletico Madrid are keen to strike a deal but expect him th move to Manchetser United. Napoli consider him an option to replace SMS. West Ham give an unlikely option. A whatif answer may be PSG if they appoint Mr Mourinho as their new coach - but that never happened. A wildcard option will be Inter Milan who are looking to replace Brozovic and will guarantee a starting place for him. Manchester United offer a serious option and I expect a transfer can be completed but they will need to pay more than they want to.

Rasmus Hojlund (S) A primary target for Milan. Napoli will look to him if they lose Osihem, Inter if they lose Lukaku and Juventus if they lose Vlahovic. Newcastle, Brighton and Arsenal have sent scouts and certainly an option for Manchester United. A wildcard option might be Bayern Munich or Chelsea but not top of the list for either - and way down the list for Chelsea. Real Madrid have spoken with Atalanta to propose a solution that would see a one year loan back. Atalanta will not look to sell unless the player asks for a move and they can raise €60M plus - but they will start negotiations far higher. Manchester United and PSG will look for solutions with PSG offering up Hugo Ekitike as part of the deal - which will give them an edge.}

1.) 25 Jul 2023 14:33:48
Thanks for detailed info Ed002; appreciate extra info on top of your previous posts about the pair.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 15:19:15
Great details.
If PSG edge is on Hojlund I guess we’re all in on Kane.

{Ed002's Note - Others, including PSG, will push very hard for Kane - if Manchetser United bite the bullet something can be done at the right price for Hojlund.}

3.) 25 Jul 2023 17:59:42
Ed - is Kane to United still a possibility?

{Ed002's Note - I think it will be difficult and unlikely.}

4.) 25 Jul 2023 19:22:01
Thank you so so much Ed002, more than I could ask for!

Have a lovely rest of your day :)

5.) 25 Jul 2023 21:12:01
Yeah thanks Ed - amazing as always.

6.) 25 Jul 2023 23:05:20
Nice update Ed02, thanks. Hope both can be done soon enough for the coaches to have a look at them in preseason.

7.) 26 Jul 2023 07:58:03
Wherever he goes, looks like Atalanta have invested in a replacement already in El Bilal Toure Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Largely but they are after another striker as well with Zapata on his way out and Muriel available.}

30 Dec 2021 22:08:22
Serious question for the Ed's, what has donny so wrong that he can't get any game time? No Bruno and Fred playing and still no minutes. Really hope he is leaving in jan for his own sake.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - I would rather agree that he has not had a sustained opportunity. It has stalled his career for a couple of years. January is a tough time for transfers, but he needs to get back on track.}

1.) 30 Dec 2021 23:33:50
Whilst I’d agree he’s not had a sustained run of games, nobody sees what happens in training. My question would be what has he actually done right?

{Ed002's Note - That left turn.}

2.) 31 Dec 2021 09:40:16
It's a shame but I don't think Donny suits either how we played under Ole or how we are trying to play under Ralf.

Donny is well suited to the Ajax idealogy of total football, being able to play in multiple positions with a focus on possession and working as a team to create chances. Donny excels at finding space and linking play. While he tends to lean towards "safer" rather than "riskier" passes to avoid losing possession. He also has a very good shot on him and is better higher up the pitch than deeper.

Under Ole we were very individualistic which doesn't play into what Donny is best at. He isn't the type of player who'll draw a player into him then beat them to create space. He relies on drifting into space then his teammates finding him with quick and accurate passes.

Under Ralf we are trying to be a pressing team, which requires high defensive work rate, especially from the offensive players. While he asks his players to play quick risky passes vertically as soon as they win the ball back in an attempt to create chances before the opposition drop back into their defensive shape. This is kind of he opposite of what Donny excels at, closing down space rather than drifting into it, playing dangerous vertical passes rather than safer horizontal ones.

I'm not sure I can see where or how he fits into what Ralf would want from his players.

3.) 31 Dec 2021 10:15:59
Let's hope for his sake the lad gets a move sooner rather than later,
and gets his career back on track.

4.) 31 Dec 2021 10:22:31
He should have been allowed to leave in the summer when he wanted to, seems like a decent lad who just wants to play first team football.

Also he is out of the Holland squad atm and needs to be playing regularly to get in that for Qatar 2022 so should push for a move in January even if that means kicking up a fuss.

Ballpark figures are that he cost £40m and i assume he's on at least £80-100K a week, imagine if we actually spent that on a cdm in summer of 2020 to gradually phase Matic out and not rely on Mcfred. We would actually look like we know what we are doing in terms of building a squad.

5.) 31 Dec 2021 10:26:06
We slated a ole for nit giving him a chance, and yet here is a new manage also not giving him any game time. Clearly the issue appears to be the player himself.

6.) 31 Dec 2021 10:26:16
Agreed. He actually be excellent in a City/ Barca set up, but I can see a January loan to an Everton/ Ajax.

7.) 31 Dec 2021 11:25:35
He was exactly the kind of signing I'd get excited about, but it came out of the blue. just like the CR7 signing. It felt opportunist and like it wasn't part of a plan, and with Pogba/ Fernandes already vying for those positions, didn't seem like a signing we needed. I think he was signed 'in case' Pogba left, but for whatever reason, that never happened (yet) .
Yet for all of the bemoaning here that he never gets a chance, 2 managers haven't seen enough in training or whatever to give him a run of games, so I can only deduce we are not seeing something they are. And the biggest truth lies in the fact that for all of the comments from the Dutch press and his national/ former club managers that it's criminal not to be using him, I am yet to see a single shred of proof that the little Ajax wizard we'd all seen on TV prior to the move is still in there.
For me it's a reluctant, but necessary, loan back to Ajax for the remainder of the season. Everton is miles beneath him, maybe Spurs as that midfield isn't quite right either but we don't want to strengthen them.

8.) 01 Jan 2022 18:41:04
Ralf is 5 games in AJH. I suspect it will take a bit more time to assess him given the fact that he had hardly played under Ole.

9.) 02 Jan 2022 07:43:20
Apprently Donny won't be going anywhere until the summer because of Agent issues.

Hi Ed002

Hope all is well. With Christmas around the corner, can I be cheeky and ask if we could have a transfer window update on our targets 🥺.
If the toxics are still about and you aren't doing it that's absolutely fine! Just wanted to try.
Hope you have an amazing Christmas and new year as well as the other Ed's and posters! 🤗.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - I will do something for you before the end of the year.}

Very interesting interview on YouTube involving Donny and Rio.

If you get time have a watch, Donnys positivity is immense but you can tell from what he's saying it's either now or never. Hope he gets his chance.

TRUMOURS

1.) 06 Sep 2021 23:07:16
Seems like a really nice guy but i struggle to see how he fits in.

Are you going to drop pogba or bruno? No considering they have 5 assists and 3 goals between them in 3 games.

He isn't going to get a sniff in the forward positions as they are stacked also.

2.) 06 Sep 2021 23:12:37
He could easily play as a 6 with mctominay.
If Fred is given constant chances as a 6, why not donny?

1. He’s a better dribbler than Fred
2. Better passer
3. Better reader of the game
4. Stronger
5. Can control a game

The only thing Fred has better is running like a dog the whole game and he’s good at breaking play but he’s usually the cause for the opposition in getting the ball in the first place.

3.) 06 Sep 2021 23:17:05
So you play donny and mctominay in midfield, what is your front 4 and who misses out to incorporate donny.

4.) 07 Sep 2021 01:12:18
He certainly didn't look stronger than fred every time he played so far. He looked like a feather would knock him off the ball.

He seems to have been built up to the ultimate defensive midfielder on here, shoots lazers from his eyes and swallows Celts for breakfast.

He needed to be stronger to be considered for an 8 or 6 position. He seems to have done some strength work over summer. We have a lot of games coming up and he will surely get his chance to show what he can do, either in the UCL to start or in the EPL.

If Ole sees him as a 10, then he has a stiff fight on his hands to get ahead of Jesse to be Fernandes' understudy. Even sancho and Martial may need minutes. I see no reason to keep him if that was the plan.

If he has a plan B formation maybe then he is in Ole's mind. Or maybe he can force his way into the double pivot. BUT he has to do it on the pitch, better than last season, and not on the message boards.

5.) 07 Sep 2021 06:50:22
Dodgy, Donny was man of the match in his last EPL game playing as a box to box midfielder.
Fred has poor positioning, poor passing, poor first touch and doesn't read the game or control the tempo.

Therefore, Donny must be given a run of 3-5 games to solidify his spot in the team.
He has had just 5 days of holiday and spent the break building up his physique and getting fit earlier than others.
It will be sad to see his talent getting wasted.

6.) 07 Sep 2021 08:19:05
The fact Donny has said he can play as a 6, that in the United system he doesn't see himself as a 10 but more a 6 or 8, and the fact that he started as a 6, means he should at the very least get a run there. I can't see how it is possible for him to do any worse than Fred.

7.) 07 Sep 2021 08:42:07
Personally think end of january will dictate DvB's future. If pogba goes or signs a pre agreement, then he must think more about integrating him into the team, yet if he signs then DVB may as well look to pastures new as fred, mctom pog will all start regularly before him.

8.) 07 Sep 2021 11:12:14
I am not a big fan of DVB but due to the form of Fred i find it ridiculous that he has not been given a chance. I really don't understand what Ole is trying to do by saying he will get his chance. The poor bloke has been more than patient waiting for his opportunity. Ole needs to stop stringing him along and either play him or tell him he can leave.
I actually feel for the guy now.

9.) 07 Sep 2021 12:14:42
Dsg

Pogba left Bruno Greenwood and ronsldo upfront

Sancho hasn’t shown anything of yet and so why should he be entitled to start?

Fred strength? Lol, did you see him vs wolves when he tried to control the ball and gave it away, dropped trying to tackle and almost conceding a goal had it not been for AWB? Guys weak.

10.) 07 Sep 2021 13:27:26
Can't believe with info from training, training matches, reserve games, the other coaches opinions and inmatch monitoring that ole is dogged and just likes Fred etc. Perhaps Donny has potential but Ole must see him lacking somewhere that we clearly have no idea of. I'm not pro Ole but given he'll possibly be fired if he doesn't achieve this year I'd assume he use his best tools.

11.) 07 Sep 2021 14:26:21
MOTM? I don’t think I’ve seen him touch the ball when he’s played, he has been completely underwhelming. I think he’s all hype.

12.) 07 Sep 2021 15:36:52
AJH, Have you seen Fred play?
How is he ahead of other midfielders?
Fred's last 2 games were just shocking and he deserves to be dropped.

01 Sep 2021 08:02:23
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the eds (especially 002) for all their hard work throughout this transfer window. I'm sure it wasn't easy. Hope you get a well deserved break 👏.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

1.) 01 Sep 2021 10:22:09
Not sure they'll have or want a transfer window like this one for a long time! Well done everyone.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 16:45:36
Question i have is just how much say did Solskjaer have in the signing of Ronaldo?

27 Aug 2021 12:38:57
Have a gut feeling that this Ronaldo to city ain't as simple as it seems.

Still feel we may come out with a last min bid or he ends up elsewhere.

TRUMOURS

1.) 27 Aug 2021 12:45:08
How we affording it trumours?

We don't have the wage budget or money to be doing the deal unless players leave.

2.) 27 Aug 2021 13:07:44
It'd be ironic if after everything the club has done to improve fan/ owner relations over the past few months goes out the window because City sign Ronaldo.

3.) 27 Aug 2021 13:07:50
Players can leave after he's come in bolger might give then the kick up the ass they need to let some peopke go.

4.) 27 Aug 2021 13:08:38
Not sure where you’re getting that from, Bolger. We do have an issue with our squad size mind, but we could just not register players like Jones and Lingard if push really comes to shove.

In an ideal world, we’d sell Martial. He’s on about £250,000 a week, which several sources are suggesting is the amount that City are offering to Ronaldo. We should be able to get more than the €25m-€30m Juve are asking for, so could actually walk away with a profit. Juve are reportedly looking for a striker too.

5.) 27 Aug 2021 13:25:41
brooks we are finding it hard for buyers now to get jones gone.

lingard is for some reason being priced out of a move when west ham want him

we could have sold pereria to lazio but instead loaned him with an option to buy in the summer to flamengo.

loaned out tunz when bailly is constantly injured and we gave him a new deal last year

then we have loaned both Williams and looks like dalot might be off on loan with no rb left at the club unless he's promoting a youth player or player lind at rb instead

we have gave mata a new deal. not looked at letting matic go.

its just annoying yes we have brought varane and sancho in but more could have be done to get rid of players not good enough and we might have given us enough time left to improve the squad more

we still have 4 keepers on the books aswell.

6.) 27 Aug 2021 13:45:33
We're finding it hard at the prices we want if you need players gone your more likely to take loans or loans with option etc plus we'd have to be more reasonable in prices.

7.) 27 Aug 2021 13:53:47
The Pereira loan deal is a joke. Rumors suggest we’re paying all of his wages and that the buy option is set at €20m, which would be a club record signing for Flamengo if it actually happened. Of course, the chances of them actually taking us up on that offer seem slim to none regardless of how well he does for them, so I really don’t see the point.

8.) 27 Aug 2021 14:09:21
Bolger this is the squad that people say ole is doing a great job building.

9.) 27 Aug 2021 14:32:58
We can easily afford it. It’s the inability to get rid of players and who’s surprised when we offer players ridiculous wages to do nothing. I think the board will see this as a financial move, it will give us a massive boost of morale in and makes us title contenders despite our midfield. My issue is that it will become all about Ronaldo and we are becoming sentimental, we should look forward not back and focus on improving the midfield but let’s be honest we probably wouldn’t have don’t it so I’d take Ronaldo over nothing, especially if it stops city signing him.

10.) 27 Aug 2021 17:16:10
I WAS RIGHT! 😂.

16 Jul 2021 21:00:06
Hi Ed's, hope you're all well.

As many probably have seen, rumours ramping up over Varane and trippier. Any updates on these 2? Thanks.

TRUMOURS

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation. I am not sure what you are expecting.}

1.) 16 Jul 2021 23:08:59
No worries Ed, just wanted to know if we were any closer to actually signing either.

I’ll RTP

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

2.) 17 Jul 2021 10:17:21
Heaton, Trippier, Varane, Sancho would represent a good window with Cavani signing on a year, would ideally like Rice but can't have everything can we.

28 Dec 2020 17:03:09
So Everton v City postponed at city's request.

City admitted their bubble was compromised, so why aren't they being reprimanded? All other teams had to play with what they have with a short rest period in between.

But not city, they get awarded with an extra break despite their fault.

Money doesn't win you leagues but it can help tilt it.

TRUMOURS

1.) 28 Dec 2020 17:35:49
Peps teams have always had a "win at all costs" mentality. From questionable doctor's at Barcelona. Diving, systematic fouling. He's always found a way to win along with playing fantastic football.

And let's not forget be was found with performance enhancing drugs in his system as a player.

You are right though, they should be made play a reserve team if it was in fact their fault. But I wouldn't put it passed him to fund a loophole to get his players a rest.

2.) 29 Dec 2020 00:48:53
Games are only being played at the goodwill of the playing staff and coaching teams, who know they must mix more than the general public are at this time.

When an outbreak is found the clubs must be able to isolate to get things under control. It is not like it is their first couple of players. They already had two potential first team players out. Now they have more, discovered on the day of the match.

Everything is not cheating. The epl is doing it's best to put on a spectacle for fans stuck at home, as best they can.

Cut them some slack guys.

3.) 29 Dec 2020 08:11:58
Not sure it will benefit them, their game with Chelsea is now in doubt as well as with us the week after. Three fixtures to be crammed into an already compacted season will see them playing more games at the end of the season when players are tired.

I hope we stay away.
He’s 30 and we have better value for money getting graverberch and amrabat for less money.

I’m sure Kudus was on the list.

Very entertaining game!
Enzo imo was immense, always was one step ahead.

We win the FA cup
We finish second well behind city
Arsenal and Liverpool to get the other top 4 spots.

I think Liverpool will be much better.

Chelsea will flop again. Way too many signings for me, they seem unrecognisable. Will take time for them to gel.

Surprise team - I think Burnley will do well
Relegated - Luton, sheffield Utd and wolves.

Deadline day push for Kane?
If we sell all these players and Hojlund isn’t ready for the start of the season, who knows?!
Would genuinely make us title contenders.

Could see us ending up with Joao Felix for that attacking spot.
