The opponent came to OT and at the first whistle saw 15 United players standing in different positions on the field to what what they had seen for the past 14 months and they were shocked (somehow 4-4-2 makes 15 players as against 11 in 3-4-3). Then they looked over to the sidelines and realised that the man standing there was not Amorim and the fear kicked in. Next they scanned the players and they saw Bruno not being in a CM position and they dreaded the outcome of this change. But the final nail was when they saw GOD himself starting in the CM position, a "free" Kobbie Mainoo, who i was made to believe was a crossbred of Kroos, Modric, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets etc. and that's when the opposition decided to right a letter to the FA that this was cheating. Oh no! But what happened next was. well we all saw that.
Before the in-house know it all 38% win rate pundits come over and lecture that Amorim is gone and its not the formation or results that got him fired, let me tell you that it is is this punditry of the so called fans and the noise from the fans that feeds the sorry likes of Scholes and Neville which is shouted from the studios and the "football people" on our board get scared and make them bin the 3 year plan. Its this pressure that they can't handle and that has screwed us over numerous times over the past 13 years. Till the time these "fans" remain we will be stuck where we are.
Is it a coincidence that we are conceding way more than we were since "captain material" Martinez has come back? Are we sure we are not missing Maguire and De Ligt?
{Ed001's Note - didn't Amorim bring Martinez back in? I am not sure I understand the points you are trying to make.}

It's getting silly on here. People are upset and we have a lot of posts blaming other posters and questioning their loyalty.
I've been supporting United for over 50 years, born and raised in Manchester, had a season ticket for many years, travelled home and away. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't make me a 'so called fan', or whatever other insults other posters are using.
I respect posters' views and their right to share them, but the underlying insults (not necessarily you UA) are childish.
None of us sacked RA, it seems he engineered his own exit. Some are happy, some are indifferent, some are bereft, take your pick.
Lets discuss and debate, but enough with the insults people (sits back and waits for insults) .

Agreed ajh, I've tried to summarise below the situation without calling anyone out on here, hopefully succeeded!
We mere fans are the ones who feel it the most, and are also the first to disagree amongst ourselves, just life I suppose.
I have let emotions run high at times but now it is just a watch and see approach. I have my opinion on where this ends, and isn't good. That is no fans fault and they shouldn't feel the wrath of another fan in fairness.
Of all the appointments and decisions post Fergie, hell, even during Fergie's reign, this last decision has hit the hardest IMO, for the simple reason's explained in my below post, I genuinely saw some light at the end of the Amorim reign, but that has all gone, we are staring into the abyss, it is that bad. But I don't blame any fellow fans for that, we all know where the blame sits, players, management, board and owners.

Jimbo, I understand your pain but I think we have to give time to them to try and get it right.
It's clear that they were not expecting the outburst from Amorim, we all have to remember that despite the Amorim in or out sides, he was the one that jettisoned himself by saying what he said. It was a ridiculous thing to say at the time.
Now we are in a position where they have to scramble as they had no plan B, Amorim was the plan. Even Ed001 confirmed as such when saying that he had won the battle.
So, where are we? Do we have a better squad? Is there a better recruitment structure? Aside from having to change our plans on the manager, does the club have a better vision of what they want to achieve and how they want to achieve it? I'm still going to give the new structure the benefit of the doubt as this I think they are trying to put footballing people into the right departments, something we have severely lacked since Fergie and Gills departure. These changes will take a little bit more time and I expect that there will be even more signings in the summer and squad issues will be fixed, i.e the midfield.
I'm not a burn it all down kind of person, I just believe that they have been completely thrown by Amorims self sabotage and now they have to go back to the drawing board to try and find the right replacement.
I really hope they do, but to me, going by yesterday's game, it looks as though the squads morale is as low as ever and I'm not surprised given the results over the last 14 months.
A big 4/5 months ahead now for whoever they choose to come in. They need a pick up and quick.

Well said jimbo, us fans need to be united now more than ever, this board these owners etc are destroying the club and we have to let them know we won’t stand for it. In the end we are the ones who live it and feel it, they do poorly they’ll be removed but handsomely rewarded financially.
It’s a total mess atm, Ineos have wet the bed since taking over and are now at a crossroads, get the next decisions right and we build, get it wrong and I dread to think where we are headed both on the pitch and off it.

But can they be trusted angel, why on earth would they go back to Ole, and I wasn't an Ole out person.
God help us when they go to look for a permanent Manager. Could you imagine Tuchel or Pochettino having to explain their approach to Wilcox?
Berrada seemed a good appointment, so did Ashworth, Wilcox was a bit left field. They recruited Ashworth and then ignored his advice, and then binned him.
If Wilcox was going, then I understand why they wouldn't listen to him now, but if he was going, why is he even involved?
We thought we had professional football people in charge now, but it isn't looking that way.

Im Sorry Ajh people who promote hating the club like you did in your post some weeks ago do not get the right to tell other posters how to express themselves.
If my opinion is that an opinion is stupid i'm within my rights to say it. i'm not calling anybody stupid but that particular opinion.
If its ok for you to promote and encourage people to hate the club then its ok to call that stupid.
If someone says 15th is the same as 5th and there has been no improvement I'll call that stupid. Get off your high horse remember your own posts and don't tell others how to post, or on what topics.
I understand think you are better than anybody else but its not the case.
Stop trying to shut down topics you did the same yesterday
If they bore you don't read them.
Debate is answering and countering someone else's points.
Im sick of our own supporters ruining the club down when they don't get what they want.
Ill pick out 100 insulting posts you've made. As least make them to people who are here to defend themselves. You have thrown insults at the club and the employees many a time so don't get too precious if your on the receiving end. Crikey your not even a gen z Wallflower.

Angel the squads morale was high competing for 4th spot only lost twice since September huge improvement in. league position yoy but the wind has been taken from their sails. Any fan who was stupid enough to get behind the idea of sacking Amorim now will reap with they sowed.
I agree they have no plan b and were shocked its not what the board wanted but imo they had no choice following his outburst after the Leeds game.
If he had won the power struggle with wilcox after their row on the Friday before nobody had told amorim so i'm not sure he had.
Bruno looked shattered yesterday. Totally broken after the game. I don't blame him it must be soul destroying.

Right on cue, here's ken, a man that could start an argument in an empty room ( that's an observation, not an insult) . There a nice thread going here but you charge in with your accusations.
Help me understand when I said I hated the club, I know you have an extensive file of everyone's posts.
And remind me which one of us got banned because they wouldn't rein it in when asked.
I've gone too far a few times, and I've apologised a few times, emotions run high.
Im off to polish my halo.

Here you go Ajh
'As a long time United fan said to me 4ecently, love the shirt, hate the club's
I have been banned AjH I've no issue with that at all. If the eds feel that I go to far they will pull me up.
A couple have text me to tell me when I've over stepped the mark.
How many insults have you fired at players owners refs whoever? They don't even get a right to reply which is what you obviously prefer.
You have more double standards than you can shake a stick at.
That's an observation not an insult.

I disagree Ken, I think the league is very poor this year and we could've easily been quite lower down, but thankfully, other teams have not taken advantage, and we found ourselves close to the top 4, much like we were when he took over and then presided over the most abysmal season ever. 3 wins in his last 11 games, he only had 15 wins in total in the league with a 32% win ratio.
If we are going down the route of calling out stupid takes and stupid opinions, it has to be quite high up there to look at his time as some sort of success. I think he has left this team's morale in the dumps. Just have a look at our results, shocking. He failed to beat 5 teams out of the bottom 6 positions in his latest run.
I look at the players who publicly wished him the best too, always a good indicator, and he didn't have that many.
Also, if we are going down that route of stupid takes, you've had quite a few boastful ones yourself. From just needing a good coach to get the best out of the squad that was available after ETHs departure, to having proper footballing guys at the top who knows what they are doing with Amorim (only to get himself sacked a week later), to forever speaking up for the Glazers who have been the catalyst for all things bad at this club. And not to mention, actually getting banned from a banter site.
We are all here, trying to have decent conversations, rumours, banter, whatever. But the constant position of 'i know more than you' when you don't actually know anything is getting quite tiresome.
I'll openly hold my hands up and say, these thoughts are just my opinion, I don't think I know better than anyone on here.
AJH, I don't know mate. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt, it was their first appointment. It was the wrong one IMO, but it all depends on how they handle it now.
Look, I said at the start I'd have Carrick in, I think it's going to be him. The AFCON lads are back, injuries have cleared up, a new manager has the opportunity to lift the spirits and get them back playing some decent stuff. The board then will undoubtedly bring in targets like Anderson, Baleba or Wharton, which will dramatically change how we look. Then we HAVE to get the right manager in.
Let's see. it's all doom and gloom at the moment but as we know in football, that can change, quickly.

That's it Tim, we need to band together.
What I would absolutely love to see this weekend, but it will never happen is a completely empty Old Trafford against City.
That sends such a powerful message to the world's media.
That says, no more will this be tolerated. But the facts remain, the pockets will be lined regardless of the attendance and it will harm those who rely upon matchdays for a quid.
But what a message that would send to the owners.

Exactly angel 4th is the very best any coach could get it if this squad amorim was within a game of that several time. In fact 4th is better than we have on paper.
So yes all we need is a coach to get the best out of the squad.
Do we have the 4th best squad in the league in your opinion?
Eth left us in 15th he finished 7th the year before
Amorim left us needing to win our next game to be 4th.
A good coach had us competition for a cl place as suggested.

Bit late to the party, but Amorim didn't get sacked because of losing the dressing room or because of results (the results were basically in line with expectations) . He wasn't getting backed with the players he wanted, he essentially said back me with a midfielder in jan and more in summer, or sack me.
And they sacked him.
