Not UTD related but Manager related

So Forest played some great football last season and the owner and nuno had beef and he was shipped.

I watched Forest under Ange tonight and if ever there was a case to say a manager can affect players drastically by asking them to play out of their comfort zones.! This was black and white!

They looked like rabbits in headlights as the danish team ( yes they are good ) ran through them. then 16 mins left throw on Woods who changes the game and the players attitude.

AUSSIE ANGE has I.M.P.O took forest backwards.

One of my friends is a life long Forest fan, he likens our situation to Forest under Clough and after Clough, I think it is hard to disagree.

He isn’t in the Ange out brigade, he is more perplexed how the situation between the owner and previous manager has been allowed to escalate, two alpha males going at it and the club suffering as a result.

He'll be lucky to simply get sacked and live. Marinakis looks like he could eat a whole one!

The whole thing at Forest just highlights the issues that are created when owners get too involved in the running of the club.

Anyone who has watched EPL football over the past couple of years could see a mile off the problems with going from a manager like Nuno with his very defensive approach that had been drilled into a set of players and a squad built to play that way, to a ultra attacking manager like Ange.

You probably couldn't find two managers with such polar opposite approaches to football as Ange and Nuno.

The only reason I can see for why Forest hired Ange after sacking Nuno was out of spite to try and prove Nuno wrong by hiring a guy who is his exact opposite.

Simply they don't have the squad for Ange to be successful, and they will need a massive overhaul to even stand a chance. Which is something they can't do with the window shut.

I hope they don't sack Ange next week, he could end up at OT if Anorim goes after the next few games!

Trueredman, very different context. Nottingham Forest had built a team around what Nuno wanted and have just had their most successful season in over 50 years.

United had a Frankenstein squad that had absolutely no identity or style, with there not really even being enough players to play ANY style successfully enough to be where they should be. The United team wasn't built to play any particular style, it needed totally dismantling and being rebuilt from the ground up.

At that point United had two choices, hire a manager who is adaptable and will try to play to his players strengths. This sort of manager will get better results in the short term, but will make rebuilding the team in the long-term harder and potentially take longer. As they don't have a clear style to recruit for, while they are more likely to keep players who don't fit their ideal style of play as they offer a different option. Meaning you don't shift players out as quickly either.

Or option B, hire a manager who has a very clear and defined playing style that matches how the club want to play moving forward. Someone who isn't going to be as flexible as they mould the squad to suit that style of play. They will be more ruthless with cutting players who don't suit that way of playing. Which means you suffer more in the short-term in the way of results, but hopefully you rebuild your squad quicker in the image that you want.

Whether it was Amorim, or any other manager (like Ange) who has a very distinctive way of playing we would be suffering the same now.

Only if they went the other route of a Thomas Frank or Oliver Glasner type of manager would we have seen different results by this point. The trade off is that players like Rashford and Antony would probably still be here and our summer recruitment would have looked different, maybe better in some ways, but just as likely it could have been worse. Without a clear style of play and while trying to fit all our best players into the team we would have likely looked for very different players.

The club have chosen a course, it was a course that was always going to be tougher to start with but better long-term, and likely to actually get us to a place where we can actually compete sooner rather than later (2-3 years rather than 4-5). They need to stick the course and break the media stranglehold on our club. For too long our club have allowed the media to set the narrative and ultimately dictate when the club hires and fires managers.

You can't be serious. Amorim is a poor manager imo and we can buy another 10 players and will still suck under him. Everyone knows how to play us. he has zero guile in terms of how to manage a game from substitutions to tactical changes. fish out of water and not for the pl.

let's be clear every manger since fergie got the boot when we finished outside top 4/ 5. People are trying to defend a guy who had us finish 15th and we look like we may do worse this year after spending 220 mill. This is not remotely comparable to other managers.

Amorim is the first manager since Fergie that I am actually embarrassed by as there seems to be no end to poor results. sure we had bad results under other mangers but nothing like this. I was not aware of the fact that we have never won two league games in a row under him. Its a joke and enough is enough. The bar with this guy is so low but he still can't get over it. Keep making excuses for him.

Athletic article saying if we lose to Sunderland tomm Amorim is safe. Its ridiculous and offensive as a fan to allow this to go on.

Tbf Forest have had a number of managers and Nuno didn’t get to sign a new team.

They bought well. Ange is bad appointment.

Amorim is a great guy but as Ahmad says he’s predictable and has had time and money.
