Chris , I have to say I agree. I said this last night at the start of my post about us needing more quality players.
This idea that we are celebrating 4th s a load of tosh being bandied about by those with an agenda. That being the anti LvG agenda.
In some twisted way , they seem to think that by not slating the manager , we are all delighted with 4th place.

Everything is better now than it was at the same point last season anyhow. We seem to attract a lot of better players, both youth and finished article, we don't have any issues come to money (even CL qual. is secured with is revenues), the confidence is back. Even if it don't look that good to celebrate a 4th, its more about celebrating the club being on the right way back to where we supposed to be, and everybody is looking forward to next season with confidence, instead of last season in questionmarks
The exitement of silly season is also back, in the last years it has been more of a teeth grind to see all other clubs buy top notch but ourselfs are met with a "no value in the market".
We will be condenders in all competitions next season, and with a bit of luck with new signings and the once we have, why say we couldn't win it all??
So no, celebrating a 4th when we feared we could end up mid table, also beating LFC to it, makes out for a celebration.

Ed01 success for me at this moment in time would be improvement in A. The football played and B. Improvement in league points gained thus higher finishes.
Right at this moment 2/3rd comfortable and getting out of the group in the CL would be improvement for me. After signings that will change I'm sure.
{Ed001's Note - cheers, it will be an interesting window this one, so many people are going to have their expectations based on it. There will be a lot of pressure.}

TBH I was happy that we secured CL places but in no way was celebrating it . I would be happier for 2nd or 3rd position but wouldn't celebrate it either because this club never celebrates anything other than a title . But as last season pulled us down to large extent, it was never easy to climb all the way up in a single season . So considering we needed to rebuild and we really took a step towards right direction , it is no bad thing to be happy about it . As for celebrating , I think i will celebrate us winning the league in next two years. For these season , we will surely compete for the league for the whole season and if summer goes well , we may win it as well

All we have done Norwegianred is finish 4th and qualify for a CL play-off place. We need to win that before we qualify for the CL group stages. It isn't a given.
But compared to this time last year, we can say we've improved. We now have a nice style in our play, not perfect but improving, and if you believe the press, some very good players should be heading our way. I think if we hit the ground running next season, we have a chance of some silver. Would anyone accept 2nd and a tight title finish with maybe the FA Cup?

I had a big party to celebrate fourth place. It was me, my dog and LVG turned up about 5 in the morning roaring drunk. I think he made a pass at me, but he just awkwardly fumbled around outside my trousers for 90 minutes until we both fell asleep.
I all honesty, fourth was the minimum that LVG promised at the start of the season and, despite being the biggest spenders last summer, our performances have hardly set the world alight. LVG has earned another season, but he needs to bring in the right players and make sure that we have some actual penetration going forward. On the plus side, 5-3-2 seems to be a relic of the past and we have no excuses about where our problem areas are. I'm looking forward to the summer window and shake up that LVG has promised.
In fairness though, people need to cut the petty bullcrap and play nice. I don't completely agree with people like Beast and JMB, but they have a point and shouldn't be booed off the site for sticking to it.

Chris is not saying you can't have your own opinion mate, but you have on a number of occasions tried to suggest other people's opinions are wrong because they are celebrating, when actually very few people are celebrating. Each post you have mentioned it on has nobody celebrating so it just seems shoe horned in to make a point that isn't really there.

I have no problem at all with people giving an opinion and debating that, u wouldn't understand jred as most of your posts are 1 liners aimed to either put down the op or get in a argument with another poster or just to be different, quickly followed by a denial of said opinion! IMO.
I used to post very frequent on here but now can not be bothered as it gets lost now in the constant everyday posts of JMB or beast posting the same negative post over and over, like i said its my opinion its attention seeking, i'm entitled to that right? If that bothers some maybe ask why that is?

I'd just been thinking, since Ed025 came on the site, that there seemed to be a better mood of late on the site. He wasn't snippy with anyone and always tried to engage with the posters in a light-hearted way.
He goes away for one day.
Everyone just needs to chill the feck out, and roll a fat one. Not, as a respected pillar of society, that I'm condoning illegal drug use. Obviously.
4th was minimum. I sensed relief among fans, rather than any hint of celebration. I think most of us have pretty similar views on how the season went - we've got eyes - there's just a difference in whether or not we'll push on from here.

i haven't really gone on about celebrating 4th , i just don't think it is a valid way of assessing if a team has played well .
i don't buy in to the we have come 4th so we have done well , as i think the place you come in the league has a lot to do with the teams around you, players you have etc .
i don't think finishing above this current liverpool team means we have played well .
i still think we have underachived.
in a stronger league you could play great and end up 5th
mind you i have fully explained this view many times now.
straight up i come on here to talk football and give an honest opinion .
