I think poch will be getting a call after that match.

1.) 24 Nov 2019 20:05:11
Id be very shocked if there's much appetite to move ole on. But if its building the irony if it happens after the spurs game.

2.) 24 Nov 2019 20:33:39
The wolves are out again, suprise suprise. Granted it was a pretty terrible performance but you have to have a look at the players Ole had to choose from. Look at the 3 goal scorers and their ages, the fighting spirit shown by such a young group missing so many key men. Ask yourself would a Pochettino or Allegri have done any better with a midfield of Fred and Pereira?

3.) 24 Nov 2019 20:57:30
the youngsters are playing well. e picks the team so why not try the other young ones instead of them two that s oles choice.

4.) 24 Nov 2019 21:17:30
Nothing will change until the club gets its act together behind the scenes. Run by amateurs. Yep, ole may not be the man, poch or someone might get us an extra win or two, but let’s be real this squad is so far off where it needs to be for us to even think about competing.
I will also say that spell in the second half shows that in about 3 years we will have a few top players on our hands if they continue to progress.

5.) 25 Nov 2019 05:33:57
Yeah Caolan.
A midfield of Fred and Andreas - any team would struggle.
There was little to no supply to the forwards in the first half.

6.) 25 Nov 2019 09:01:59
TRD don’t forget the movement of the forwards were dreadful. Mason has the best movement of the lot imo and that was seen by his goal. This team shows glimpses and for 15 mins it was incredible. But it needs so much work to fix it, and I don’t have the confidence that it will be done.

7.) 25 Nov 2019 09:11:24
The number of times we lost posession in first half from midfield was appaling.

8.) 25 Nov 2019 21:35:11
If we sold Pogba and got a number 10 like Maddison or Fernandes and a holding midfielder like Ndidi or Kante, would the rest of the first team be OK?

9.) 26 Nov 2019 04:38:56
Yes CSF. That would be immense.
A midfield of Maddison, McTominay, Kante (impossible though) will easily dominate midfield.
By controlling the midfield, the team can be on the front foot always.

10.) 26 Nov 2019 13:22:11
Yes CSFThat would be a way better midfield than the one we currently have, Fred's commitment can't be questioned but sadly he isn't good enough and don't let me start on Pereira, i don't even think he is a championship player let alone a manchester united one. We need a very good holding midfielders and a good creative, attacking one too, Maddison or Fernandes would be great in that position.

Football is finished that was never a penalty and VAR is as about as much use as a chocolate teapot that is a disgusting decision
And fernandez cheated he went down as if his ankle broke
THATSCHEATING.

gianfranco gola

{Ed047's Note - 100% Gola, Moss is a clown

1.) 09 Jul 2020 20:52:09
What is the point of var
The ref made a bad decision I understand that it can happening when players are cheating
But VAR should then say its not a penalty if it isn't he turned threw his foot at defender and then dived
This clear and obvious bs is ruining it
If it isn't it isn't full ffing stop.

{Ed047's Note - it’s shocking mate, VAR should have said to Moss it’s an error explaining exactly what happened and booked Fernandez for diving!

2.) 09 Jul 2020 21:04:39
What are they scared of ed
In any other sport if it isn't it is over turned if the ref or umpire get it wrong they just say sorry you got that wrong and overrule it
No one says that ref or umpire is a clown for getting it wrong they understand human error and that is the point in video replays
But not in football ffing ridiculous
It annoys me more than before as we now have the tech to overrule but don't it's the biggest waste of money and tim
Giroud scored a goal for Chelsea and after var was ruled offside by a big toe and wasn't flagged offside but the goal was ruled out
So the ref and linesman got that wrong but it was overturned but when it's a blatant dive sorry we can't overrule the ref on that one as it isn't clear and obvious what a ffing joke when clearly is
FOOTBALL IS FINISHED VAR IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN WORLD SPORT IF YOU DON'T USE IT TO OVERULE
THEN THERE IS NO FFING POINT TO IT
rant over.

{Ed047's Note - it’s run by refs who don’t want to point out each other’s mistakes.

Think FIFA are supposed to be stepping in and taking it out of their hands as it’s an absolute farce.

3.) 09 Jul 2020 21:05:34
Lads 100% not a pen. But 100% not a dive. He jumped turned and landed on the defenders leg it was a free the other way perhaps but 100% not a dive. The one bruno won and var took away a couple of weeks ago was more of a dive.

{Ed047's Note - yes maybe I was a bit harsh Ken, it’s just frustrating across the board how bad VAR is.

Cracking goal by Greenwood though!

4.) 09 Jul 2020 21:09:13
Dry your eyes Gola.

5.) 09 Jul 2020 21:13:32
Fair play 047.

6.) 09 Jul 2020 21:13:51
Thank god lol
That Greenwood is going to be a good player just hope they don't over hype him like rashford as I think he's so overatted
Thanks for calming me down ed.

7.) 09 Jul 2020 21:17:27
Leonard if you think that's a pen then you don't understand football mate
My argument is with var not your team or ref.

8.) 09 Jul 2020 21:29:45
I know mate VAR has been a constant issue this year. I was caught up in the Greenwood magic when I posted that!

9.) 09 Jul 2020 21:34:27
It was play acting from Bruno.

He literally rolled around on the floor clutching the ankle that he used to stamp on the villa player. until the pen was given.

10.) 09 Jul 2020 21:36:55
Thank you jordz my point is surely var can see that.

{Ed047's Note - they absolutely must have because they’d have to be blind not too!

They’ve started VAR with a lot of poor rules and been stuck with it and the refs not wanting to make each other look bad.

That’s why it’s got to be taken away from the PGMOL and some of the ridiculous rules binned.

11.) 09 Jul 2020 21:45:57
Agreed
Arsenal the other night another example why did ref have to go to monitor it was Keane on haaland all over again lol.

{Ed047's Note - 🤣 I thought it was harsh on Nketiah to be honest and when you look at the challenge by Ndombele earlier for Spurs, why did he only get a yellow?

12.) 09 Jul 2020 23:23:29
It's ruined the game considerably for me. I can't take it seriously anymore.

13.) 10 Jul 2020 00:16:10
Didn't see either of you on your soapbox last week when we had a penalty given against us for 'handball'?

14.) 09 Jul 2020 22:56:46
Lol we need var to sort out our differences Ed.

{Ed047's Note - defo mate and you just have to ignore little Red Rosie 🤦‍♂️🤣

15.) 10 Jul 2020 06:59:50
May be i have my rose tinted glasses on!

Definitely one of the softest of pens, but on a side note, when a player nutmegs opponent and runs into his body and falls, doesn't that count as a foul even if there is no intention of malice there? and if it happens in the box, then it is a penalty. My point is intent which disturbs the direction in general is under the Refs purview to make a decision. It can be affirmed with Baily's case last week as well, where it hit him in his deltoids, yet was given.

Can't this be a case of the same yesterday? When fernandes does a 360, the ball isn't available to Konsa, but his foot doesn't allow Fernandes to place his foot on the ground and thus disbalances him and obviously knowing where he is, he does play acting (who doesn't when there is a chance of penalty? )

So, no way its a foul committed by Fernandes for me. Now, i have been skeptical of VAR always and feel many tiniest margin decisions have gone in favour of big teams always (it was the same case yesterday as well), But atleast it provides some avenue of turning earlier blatant calls made by refs in the games.

Although a long way to go, it is still a positive direction football moved into.

16.) 10 Jul 2020 13:41:21
Your stretching there surz comparing a nutmegs and obstruction to what happened last night with Fernandes.

They've come out and said they got the decision wrong. It wasn't just Fernandes decision that they have admitted where wrong but also Southampton pen and Kane not being awarded a pen. Clearly a problem with VAR.

It was clever play by Fernandes but the rolling round holding the ankle when he didn't get kicked needs to stop or he will get singled out next season. It happens to all the top players, Suarez, Kane, Salah etc refs get skeptical when they see them go down the way they do.

80 Mill for maguire what has the footballing world come to
Even you guys have to admit that's bonkers and before you all go mad on the money Chelsea have wasted on players
Its Harry Maguire I can't believe he is the most expensive defender ever
I could understand 80 Mill and the most expensive defender ever if he was world class but he isn't
Its the equivalent of Danny drinkwater the most expensive midfielder ever just doesn't make sense
Harry maguire isn't a 80 mill player and I would go as far to say he isn't good enough for united
Sorry just my opinion.

gianfranco gola

1.) 06 Aug 2019 09:40:51
Not my money so doesn't bother me, all I care about is he improves our defence, as does £50m AWB, ah well, the market we are in eh.

2.) 06 Aug 2019 10:00:20
Well Torres was signed for 50m.

3.) 06 Aug 2019 10:00:42
What a load of rubbish.

4.) 06 Aug 2019 10:08:13
I would say, as you have already said, people in glass houses should not throw stones. That being said Maguire will surprise a lot of people, mark my words he will make it at United and will prove to be a good signing. Remember the mob signing Van Dijk? Was he worth 75 million then? No of course he wasn't, yet he went on to prove his worth and is for my money the best CB in the world. English players come at a premium, add to that the fact Leicester didn't need to sell and the fact we needed a CB desperately and 80 million is the outcome. Come back half way through the season so I can say I told you so.

5.) 06 Aug 2019 10:39:36
The money in football is bonkers there days. At the end of the day, a player is worth exactly as much as a club is willing to pay for him. It’s high, but he is an improvement on what we have.

6.) 06 Aug 2019 12:24:50
Most expensive is a confusing term. It does not necessarily transpire that he is the best of all in the world for such a comparison you need to have a list of valuation of all defenders and compare. Even valuation can change based on many factors, length of contract left/ current form etc.
If someone approaches Liverpool to sign VVD wouldn't surprise if they quote 200m plus. So instead of worrying about the money it could only be seen as a target identified by the club that they thought would improve us so they went and got him.

7.) 06 Aug 2019 12:54:22
You could tell VVD was class the first time you seen him, he just glides about the park.

8.) 06 Aug 2019 13:41:06
I remember VVD at Southampton getting totally destroyed by Martial.

9.) 06 Aug 2019 16:15:38
Must have been an off day, i could tell he was class when I saw him playing for Celtic.

10 Jan 2018 13:07:04
Who's going to be your manager next year boys?

gianfranco gola

1.) 10 Jan 2018 14:56:21
All of us arm chair managers, same as every season. We believe in continuity. Who are you going to replace hazard with?

2.) 10 Jan 2018 15:27:32
Nice Supa, nice.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 15:27:39
Whose going to be your manager next year gola?

4.) 10 Jan 2018 15:54:36
Conte.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 16:13:40
Most likely mourinho thanks to conte by the looks of it.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 16:33:07
Conte will be gone in the summer mist likely. Hazard certainly will be gone.

7.) 10 Jan 2018 19:28:46
Is his name spelt with an 'o', my mistake, sorry lads!

8.) 10 Jan 2018 19:45:30
It was not a dig I was merely just asking a question
Why on these sites does everything get taken personally yes Conte and hazard will go.

9.) 10 Jan 2018 20:27:30
Jose wont.

10.) 10 Jan 2018 20:57:02
Because text has no context what may be a straight question can interpreted differently.

I'd expect Jose to at least see out his contract. If he did leave I'm not sure who would take over. There's not many outstanding candidates.

11.) 10 Jan 2018 21:50:47
If you want to see attacking football, the pochettino would be a good candidate, if you want practical, no-nonsence, then sean dyche would fit the bill, and if you prepared to wait 2-4 years, johnson at bristol city looks promising.

12.) 11 Jan 2018 13:05:12
Does anyone have any views on Gasperini? Seems good at bringing youth through, plays good football and is very pragmatic. I know he failed at Inter, but that isn't really a measure of anything.

I think the idea of continuing with managerial musical chairs is a bit tedious for us and the Premiership, but I understand that its a matter of safeguarding finance and being careful with appointments.

One of the things that I've been thinking of for a while is how managers are categorised, and what that means for football. For example, Cryuff-ian and post-Cryuffian managers have dominated recently with tika-taka football, and any take on any other tactics, see Mourinho, traditional Italian, etc, is seen as inferior (despite their relatively near-recent success) . Do people see football evolving purely into a something straight out of a Cryuff playbook, or do people thing that there will be a different 'school' come along and replace it? Or system to counter it.

Also, on another note, who thinks Klopp to Real in the summer would be a reasonable shout? It certainly won't be Zizou come next season!

Jack.

20 Jul 2016 22:24:34
Come in peace cfc fan
If you had choice would you want pogba at 100 mill plus or kane at 30 mill
Me personally love pogba superstar player
But can't help feeling kane is a snip at 30 mill
Comparing makele versus viera in 90s both were unreal for there teams
Just can't help feeling pogba didn't want to go back really just noone else was silly enough to pay that amount and juve ain't going to turn that money down.

gianfranco gola

{Ed041's Note - I'm guessing, well hoping you mean Kante.

1.) 20 Jul 2016 22:34:40
Both very good but very different type of player. Kante appears to be great value. Come back in May and then we will know who got the better deal. Both mangers got the player they want. Let's see how they do with them.

2.) 20 Jul 2016 22:43:15
To be fair Kante is a fantastic player who most people would take, me included. However if Pogba improves on 8 goals and 12 assists from midfield then i'm going to say Pogba. Last player to score and assist that amount from the middle of the the park was Ya Ya Toure and City won the league.

3.) 20 Jul 2016 23:16:48
Chorlton
Barkley got 9 assist and 8 goals, Everton won nothing and everyone spent a season saying he was overrated and to expensive.
Ozil got 6 goal and 19 assist arsenal won nothing .
Milner got 11 assists and 6 goals .

Our 100mil player needs to step up, I keep reading what a great player he is .

A big question is where will he play . It's looking like cm in a 4231 will be interesting to see.

{Ed041's Note - just shows you how pointless stats are, because I'm guessing even you know pogba is at least twice the player of barkley.

4.) 20 Jul 2016 23:18:40
Sorry spell check kante lol
Good luck coming second next year lol

Gonna be hard watching HRH jose on your bench but in all honestly can't think of a more exciting start to a season Conte pep jose Klopp new stadiums and big time players can't wait.

5.) 20 Jul 2016 23:25:43
Without any european football Chelsea should be in a good position to make a run at the title with or without Kante. There is so much more to it than a straight comparison. For the longer term, if there is such a thing anymore, I would take Pogba.

6.) 21 Jul 2016 00:42:50
i would take can't at 30 million an die should have signed pjanic. we should hire whoever is doing the football business end for juve as they have built a serious european contender for a faction of what we are spending without the circus act every season or bayern for that matter.

7.) 21 Jul 2016 05:25:16
Ed
What about milner 11 assists?
I agree it pointless but it keeps coming up.

{Ed001's Note - Milner is awful, but he works hard and puts in a lot of attempted crosses and passes in the final third, so he should have a lot more assists really. When he played in central midfield, which was not often, he seemed to think his job was to be an auxiliary winger, so it is no wonder he has lots of assists. If you keep putting the ball in there someone will put it in the net.}

8.) 21 Jul 2016 05:27:55
I'm not convinced Kante will do it again. Good season but let's see how he faces at a big club under huge pressure.

{Ed001's Note - really? He was fantastic before Leicester signed him, but no one wanted to know as he was 'too short' according to just about everyone. No matter how many scouts recommended him, the likes of Wenger etc all decided his height was an issue. The lad has been well known amongst European scouts for a few years, if he doesn't do well, that is because the team does not suit him, rather than a lack of any quality on his part.}

9.) 21 Jul 2016 06:41:02
Fair enough Ed, he was a complete unknown quantity to me. In terms of the opening question, the Es are academic, the question is who will do better, Kante or Pogba. If Pogba has as a good a season as Kante had last year then it will be money well spent.

{Ed001's Note - sorry, it is a pet hate of mine players not being considered because of their height, so I tend to take notice of ones that get rejected by clubs because of it.}

10.) 21 Jul 2016 08:59:27
Jred,

Pogba goals and assists along with his other talents in the middle of the park could well just make the difference to us finishing top of the league.
I know stats are pointless but i wasn't trying to use them to prove any point.
I think if the players Mourinho has added preform to there expected level along with what we already have, i don't think we will be that far away and Pogba could just end up making the difference.
Barkley's goals and assist mean nothing when his team can't defend and the only other goals in that team come from a striker.
Bottom line is Pogba is better than what we currently have and can offer a genuine goal threat from midfield, something that's hard to find.
Not going to explain the milner comparison as that's pointless.
As for Ozil, looks like if Arsenal can start to defend properly and get a top quality striker then they might do well too but as both those elements were missing from there team they won nothing not because Ozil got 6 and 19.

Lol why sign sancho then
Pulisic is and will be better than greenwood.

gianfranco gola

{Ed004's Note - Because competition in a squad is what is needed to compete at the top. Think you'd be hard pushed to find someone on this site that'll agree with you that Pulisic is the superior talent to Greenwood. But then both sides will be looking at it via rose tinted glasses. Effectively we will have Bruno, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford and hopefully Sancho for 4 positions. At least one will pick up an injury or need rested at some point. He's also only 18 so Greenwood will need managed properly so he isnt burnt out}
