I know we seem to be pushing for a new dm ( if you believe the media), but my guess is they were probably expecting one to get some time over the season and why they sent collyer on loan. Now one is injured that leaves us thin with just Cass and Ugarte. What about using martinez or shaw in there? Both have good engines and can rotate their time on the treatment table.
1.) 21 Aug 2025 10:17:13
Is this a joke? Shaw in midfield? Good engine? I can’t believe you’ve typed this and sent it and thought it was a good idea.
2.) 21 Aug 2025 10:40:14
Out of all that, this is the only bit you could reply to ?? that bit was tongue in cheek and this should have been on the banter thread but hey ho.
3.) 21 Aug 2025 13:04:33
Have you forgot about Mainoo?
4.) 21 Aug 2025 15:10:16
RA clearly forgotten about Mainoo and don’t rate him
But Shaw or Martinez in there is got to be a joke, neither should even start in there natural positions let alone midfielders!
5.) 21 Aug 2025 16:13:04
If he doesn't rate him then sell him.
6.) 21 Aug 2025 16:50:38
here he is, german. the man who knows better than qualified football coaches.
7.) 21 Aug 2025 19:53:28
So why does the qualified coach RA play him then?
8.) 21 Aug 2025 20:00:39
Mainoo situation seems a bit weird, Amorim says he rates him and has big plans, but it seems he will be an understudy all year to Bruno. Maybe Bruno is being slowly phased out during the year?
9.) 21 Aug 2025 20:25:09
Or, RA intends to use Mainoo as an understudy and replace Bruno when we're ahead in games rather than chasing them, and there's no inconsistency in what RA is saying at all.
10.) 21 Aug 2025 20:34:40
Who is injured.
11.) 22 Aug 2025 09:16:52
Mainoo is highly rated by Amorim and the club. The rumoured view inside the coaching staff is that he lacks the stamina and running power in the double pivot. However, this is something that can be worked on and improved, which is what they are doing. He has a specific training program to increase his pace, power and stamina when running.
He already has the vision, reading of the game, and technical skills, all of which are much harder to coach into a player. We have to remember he only turned 20 in April. I think his meteoric rise into the team under EtH has made people forget just how young and inexperienced he is right now.
He had a lot of injuries last season, which is a sign that he might have been over played at his age and level of physical development. Which if you saw the photos of him training during pre-season you'll have noticed how much bigger he is and how he has filled out a lot now compared to his first season. Highlighting how he wasn't fully developed physically when he was playing 180 minutes a week under EtH.
He will get plenty of playing time this season, but it will be as an understudy to Bruno. He isn't really suited to playing as one of the more defensive midfielders, while his relative lack of running power means that he cannot be paired with Casemiro. Meaning the only midfield partner he could play with to form a balanced midfield is Ugarte, which we saw during pre-season.
He is being groomed to be Bruno's replacement. Bruno remember isn't an ideal fit in the double pivot due to his tendency to chase the ball and be out of position. He is also more of a passer than a ball carrier. Which isn't the ideal profile for Amorim. But his leadership, energy, stamina, and his creativity means he has to be in the team more often than not. That said I wouldn't be surprised if Kobbie has started to take his spot by the end of the season. He just needs to improve his stamina and running power.
12.) 22 Aug 2025 10:33:17
Shappy - like you said Mainoo looks to have bulked up even more which will surely affect his pace, stamina and his ability to run more.
13.) 22 Aug 2025 11:47:00
1 game into the season, I guess Amorim doesn't rate Heaven either?
14.) 22 Aug 2025 15:33:54
Ports,
It’s mad isn’t it some of the nonsense people come out with. OP, you asked 1 question in your post, so yes that’s the bit I responded to.
15.) 23 Aug 2025 10:25:23
Ports, spot on. We have a squad of 31 players, with another 4 first team players already out on loan. At best Amorim can play 16 players in a game (11 starters and 5 off the bench) . Does that mean the other 15 players aren't part of his plans?
Rubbish, the reality is that Mainoo is behind Bruno right now, and the in game situation didn't really suit bringing him on off the bench.
16.) 23 Aug 2025 10:40:01
Sim, not necessarily. Adama Traore is an absolute tank, he looks more like a body builder rather than a footballer (and sometimes he plays like one ? ) . Yet he is absolutely rapid and has the stamina to bomb up and down the pitch all game.
I agree if you bulk up too much or in the wrong way then it can absolutely effect your mobility and stamina. We just have to trust that the coaching staff have a better understanding of how to build strength and muscle in the right way while also improving stamina and pace. It can be done.
I think a big part of Mainoo getting bigger is just him naturally filling out. We have to remember he was just 18 when he started to be a regular for us. Most young men don't fully fill out into their bodies until their early 20's.
Mainoo need to increase his lung and heart strength, I expect he'll be making good use of the new facilities at Carrington. That will increase his stamina. His pace isn't too bad, it's his acceleration that really needs to improve. He needs to be quicker over the first 5 yards or so. That is what Amorim needs from his midfielders so that they can jump to spring a press and win back the ball. The opposition need to feel that they can pass to a player as they aren't closely marked, only for our players to quickly make up that distance and win back the ball.
That's where Kobbie needs to improve. Can he develop that explosive pace over the first 5 yards to enable him to become a better ball winner in Amorim's pressing midfield. That pace is also needed to quickly recover back into position when we lose the ball, especially as we play with a midfield double pivot often up against a midfield three. Our midfielders need to have the stamina and pace to cover a lot of ground quickly.
18 Aug 2025 12:59:56
Sancho. It seems he's turned down both Roma and Beziktas. Not sure if he has word of something else in the pipeline or just being greedy. he's probably regretting not accepting the Chelsea offer now.
Let him rot in the academy.
1.) 18 Aug 2025 14:30:38
Nah we've got a good academy and wouldn't want his attitude rubbing off.
2.) 18 Aug 2025 15:25:23
He wants to run down his contract / get a loan so he can get a big signing on fee as a free agent next year.
3.) 18 Aug 2025 17:04:00
Wallace you may be correct on that front. If we believe the stories nothing he does makes any logical sense to his words.
Wants to get out of Manchester and be a big player somewhere
Rejects Chelsea as he wanted more than the £150k they offered
Rejects Juventus and Roma who are offering between £100-120k
Rejects Saudi/ Turkey who potentially would pay him his salary demands as he thinks he should be in a higher league/ team
Pick what version of freedom you want. other than none of it and believes that we will be forced to give him a loan and he can negotiate a bigger salary with no fee.
Crazy situation and potentially he needs to be careful of the message he puts out there with clubs having buyer beware fear going forward.
4.) 18 Aug 2025 17:38:37
Any club next year would be silly to offer him a big signing on fee and large wage if he hasn’t played for a year, behaved the way he has and essentially he’ll be unemployed. So clubs could offer him a lower contract offer or he’s without a club. He’s playing a silly game IMO.
See Garnacho’s not in the Argentinian squad for World Cup qualifiers next month. Really don’t know who advices these lads.
5.) 18 Aug 2025 21:27:23
He's probably holding out in the hope that Dortmund will come in with a ridiculously low offer at the last minute.
6.) 18 Aug 2025 21:50:56
The issue is slightly different as I understand it.
He has made it clear to clubs he is willing to take a lower wage but he wants a pay off from united for the last year of his contract of up to £10m which the club don't want to give him.
He feels he is entitled to it and contractually he is.
He knows if we don't sell him we will have to loan him and cover the wages anyhow.
Both parties playing hard ball waiting on the other to blink 1st.
So in the end they will both comprise somewhat. He will get 5m as a pay off that will leave a loss on the books on his exit which we don't want or need.
Messy situation if we were under no psr restrictions and were cash rich he'd have been fine long ago with his cheque.
7.) 19 Aug 2025 01:50:16
We are probably trying to cover his book value so no loss hits our accounts. If he tries to get his wages too, that is an extra 10m plus his book value to avoid loss.
Embarrassed for sancho if noone is willing to pay 30m for them. Say everything really.
8.) 19 Aug 2025 07:26:17
Don’t we have e an ESports team we good put him in for a year, seems to be the only thing he is good at.
9.) 20 Aug 2025 14:37:24
Rumours about sancho not going is his greedy agent wanting stupid commission money. Its what put off juve. I mean if true and he had a chance to go to juve. he needs a slap and a new agent.
10.) 20 Aug 2025 19:51:12
To be fair his agent isn't going to make any more money out of him after his next move. He knows he's flogging a dead horse.
11.) 20 Aug 2025 20:07:00
I honestly think he may well have serious personal issues, or he’s just holding out for a return to where he feels at home in Dortmund.
12.) 20 Aug 2025 22:25:06
That being said, Spurs may get desperate soon enough and come and get him. Feels like the perfect match.

Garnacho and Antony suitors saying that they won't pay the asking price. I'd say if you can't afford them then move on. That's the proce.
1.) 22 Aug 2025 11:43:31
Cool, I can't afford the asking price of the million pound house down the road, will someone just drop the price to what I can afford? No chance.
Both are good players and we aren't asking for silly fees for either of them. It's just other clubs trying to push us to get a better deal.
I fully expect both players to join other clubs for the fees we are asking for before the window closes.
2.) 22 Aug 2025 12:45:50
I try not to simply reiterate unsubstantiated rumors, referring to comment on something more concrete, but I did see a report this morning that Fenerbahce are prepared to pay €45 for Antony. Of course he wants to go back to Betis but it's clear they're not going to stump up the asking price and are hoping to cut the loan deal they say they can afford at the very end of the window. Honestly, I think we should make it clear that we'll let them sit it out until the winter transfer window rather than caving. Even more so with Garnacho. He's not on a ridiculously high salary and cost us nothing so there's no amortization charges to consider.
3.) 22 Aug 2025 12:52:51
United need to get these sales right, I feel buying negotiating has improved from the club but if we get bent over in selling these players, despite not wanting them, we will still have no credibility in the transfer market when we come to sell in the future.
4.) 22 Aug 2025 12:56:39
I think it’s a case of both players believing that they can leverage the club by refusing to consider moving to other clubs. For me, the club needs to set down a marker. It’s a World Cup season, if Chelsea and Betis think they can use Antony and Garnacho to force United to sell cheap, let them stay. Take the first half of the season off, and see how you feel about things in January.
5.) 22 Aug 2025 13:29:55
Player power is crazy.
I expect Garnacho to go to Chelsea and the fee to be more in line with Gittens with Chelsea needing to move some players on.
Antony I think could end up elsewhere for roughly the price we are looking for.
Neither are crazy prices compared to recent player movements.
6.) 22 Aug 2025 14:50:52
I agree with ports. We have to break the Man It'd pisstake offers for players. We have made multiple financial mistakes on ihing players who trunks put to be 30 40 million overpaid, plus wages, well we now have e their wages in Opex budget planning, so sod them, let them rot u till January and watch how swiftly their expected player power dissipates.
7.) 22 Aug 2025 14:53:54
And also we will see club's stop taking the pics and delaying our windows by waiting it out when they realise it's not getting them any leverage. Costing ourselves a sales entirely just to pay out maybe 3 or 4m in wages to save ourselves being bent over for tens of millions in ludicrously low sale prices.
8.) 22 Aug 2025 15:05:51
Maybe the fact that these are all very poor players, some with even poorer attitudes, makes it much harder to sell them.
9.) 22 Aug 2025 16:37:16
BRD, other clubs have sounded both Garnacho and Antony out. The issue is that they’ve decided that they only want to move to Chelsea and Betis, respectively, and Chelsea and Betis are trying to use the players to leverage lower fees.
10.) 22 Aug 2025 17:51:33
Garna will probably end up being 35-40 plus add ons plus sell on %. In the long run this could work for us, maybe he gets a big move in the future and we get a decent kick back on the back end. If he doesnt, then he wasn't worth 50 plus anyway.
Anthony will likely move, he is not suited to epl, he can be a star at a mid level team in a slower paced league, surely he will find that move in the next week.
Sancho wants free agency and is willing to chop of his left ball to achieve it. Loan him out to anyone that will pick up half his wages and move on. PR wise it is better to disassociate ourselves from him. He will also do better away from epl.
11.) 23 Aug 2025 19:04:38
Firstly they are not very good players
Secondly bad attitudes are known by all
Thirdly RA and Club been very naive letting everyone know they don’t want them anywhere near the club, why on earth would anyone not do low ball offers and the clubs have told these players to sit tight.
Not a chance in hell we make them sit in the reserves, not a chance!
We made this bed we just got to accept it and take what we can get and hopefully learn from it!
17 Aug 2025 23:35:42
I know we got more than our fair share of decisions during the SAF era but it is now getting beyond a joke how few big decisions go our way. Most other teams would have got them.
1.) 18 Aug 2025 09:48:05
I remember a couple of years ago Klopp was on about decisions going against Liverpool all the time then suddenly they started to get the decisions. Arsenal all last year and their fans were going on about decisions always going against them even though I read a report where apart they were the least hard done by with refs decisions last season according to research.
I think the problem is, we haven't had a manager since Mourinho who is prepared to openly call out bad/ harsh decisions and risk a fine or whatever. Even if you are not right and people think you are just whinging all the time, it's a psychological part of the game that just plants seeds of doubt in the refs mind. I would have loved it had Amorim had come out and called the challenge on Byandir a foul and question why it wasn't given or looked at in depth. And called out the penalty shout on Cunha. I've seen angles and close ups of both and I'm inclined to think Cunha's was worth a shout. The Byandir one for me is tricky, personally, I don't think it's a foul and he needs to be stronger, HOWEVER, the way the game is reffed now and the rules, I can't believe it's not given, Saliba's arm is across Byandir's right punching arm. Any contact on GK's is genuinely given nowadays, not that I agree with that but that's the game now. I see Eze's goal get disallowed because Guhei was a meter from the wall when the ball was struck so there, IMO is a lack of consistency from refs that is frustrating.
2.) 18 Aug 2025 10:42:43
That's exactly my point Ports. I think if that was Arsenal on the end of these challenges, they would have been given and that shouldn't be.
Also a side comment to the referee with a bit of sarcasm would just hold them to greater account for decisions like that. I'm not a moaner by any means but i just think we should get a fair shot of decisions going our way. and if those decisions had been given, the pundits and every commentators' comments would have completely different with many agreeing with the referee's or VAR's decision in United's favour rather than just smirking that we didn't get them. I think they are 50/ 50 but one or two decisions this early changes things, makes teams more weary f us and and confidence.
3.) 18 Aug 2025 10:44:17
I'm seeing it a technically another 'United Tax'.
24 Jun 2025 11:28:36
Apparently Johnny Evans is coming back as kids on loan watcher (it probably has a fancier name than that ??) . Great decision good player but even better man. Loads of experience and a fantastic role model for the wee uns.
1.) 24 Jun 2025 13:01:45
A fancier name?
I would say that he probably doesn’t want a title that makes it sound like he’s hiding in the bushes looking at kids.
2.) 24 Jun 2025 17:58:57
Official Kiddy Watcher is a prestigious role.
3.) 24 Jun 2025 20:32:54
I really like seeing these sort of internal appointments.
If he is passionate about the role he can do a great job. He is a young man so no point sitting back and not doing anything. He can bring great insight and experience. European teams do it a lot and often those guys rise through the ranks into more senior positions.
I know a lot of posters like him and for all the right reasons. Nice guy good pro very good player. Hope he enjoys it.
4.) 24 Jun 2025 21:54:20
“Official Kiddy Watcher is a prestigious role. ”
“If he is passionate about the role he can do a great job. He is a young man so no point sitting back and not doing anything. ”
Somebody call child line, quick!

16 Aug 2025 10:29:37
I think the true story is that the deal was never on. United asked, Brighton said they aren't selling this year even for 100mil United said are you sure. Yep not selling from Brighton so United moved on.
02 Jul 2025 12:51:12
I'm not even sure we are interested in another striker. It will probably only be if Hojland goes and both he and Amorim have said he's staying.
28 Jun 2025 09:41:25
Totally agree Shappy but it's likely a case of clubs knowing then can get a bit more out us. We probably should have settled Mbeumo first then signed Cunha. Brentford wouldn't have that power over us that they now have.
27 Jun 2025 23:42:53
I think he only has a year left on his contract. I know we don't want a repeat of last season but maybe we should ask him to keep the faith and sign him next year for free with a substantial signing on fee?
18 Aug 2025 10:44:17
I'm seeing it a technically another 'United Tax'.
18 Aug 2025 10:42:43

16 Aug 2025 10:34:12
I think focusing too much on sesko would be a mistake. He's a great target man but a powerful front line who can all score goals is what's being built by the look of it.
29 Jul 2025 16:07:17
Donnaruma might be available
Would him, hjolmand, and Sesko be too much ask for with those already signed? ??.
28 Jun 2025 09:34:20
Not dumb at all Ken, even unilateral one year extensions have to have the agreement of both parties. I don't want us to walk away at all but we need to stop giving in or other clubs will continue to take the pxxs.
