Is there any news on who the new manager will be? I read the Ten Hag and Pochetino links almost daily. Didn’t know if there was anymore other than media speculation. Used to get some real nuggets of information on here so thought I’d ask!

I don't think anyone has any secret information but it feels likely that Poch is the favourite. I prefer the thought of ETH who has done wonders with a decimated team abut admittedly he's a grey area and higher risk given his lack of experience in the toughest league in the world. Ajax are expected to win most games, but any team in the Prem can beat another on its day. Poch knows the score, but hasn't exactly won much (if anything) either.
Ultimately I think it's more about getting the balance of this squad right in a definite system. You turn on a match with any well-drilled team and you know exactly what you're going to get. I put Utd on and I have no idea what to expect. I think any decent manager could come in once those things are in place and do better than anything we've seen in 9 years.

2.) 06 Feb 2022 13:30:01
No candidate will be a perfect fit each have their drawbacks but I think any chance of success will rely heavily on RR being the first footballing man in many years being in a position of power (if he really is allowed to get on with it) to assist a new manager.

Poch + RR or ETH +RR stands more chance of success than anytime since SAF if the Egos and commercial men in suits can keep keep out the way and let the football men take care of the football team. Its a big IF though.

Like a lot of the regulars on here who I follow and respect. I believe he has to go and sooner rather than later. I don't know if it's desperation on my part or just the modern game but I'd be happy to follow Chelsea's model where they get them in, get success it drys out and they get someone else to get them back to the top. I know that is the United way and those managers don't have United DNA but Sir Alex was a 1 of a kind and that just doesn't work in the modern game. When Conte was mentioned I didn't want him for those reasons, now I'd take him in heartbeat if meant we played with an identity and purpose. I also think he has the ego to deal with the players and would drop Ronaldo or hook em if required. Which it has been in the last few games. My fear is none of this will happen and the 2 steps forward we have made in the last 2 seasons will now be followed by 3 steps backwards. Finishing 5th/ 6th and in the Europa.

United's DNA is to get a Scottish manager, enjoy the success then after they leave struggle for years until the next Scottish manager comes along.

Anyone can sack a manger getting a new one is the big dilemma. Who would we get and how much time would they be given to implement a playing style .

When a team hovers around 6th a few seasons then a new manager coming in and getting them into top 4 is success - if your team is in top 3 or 4 already that next jump to the title is massive, how many managers are out there that can really do that?

Ole has to go which saddens me to be honest. But I saw a comment elsewhere last night that really struck me - a Leicester fan said if Rodgers left them they would want their club to look at the manager of Brentford, Brighton or Southampton as a replacement . OGS the current manager of Manchester United wouldn't even be on their radar. that's a sad reality of our situation.

Going to be interesting to see how the squad reacts to the last few days. On top of getting absolutely smashed by Spurs. I would love to know if the stories are true about the Bruno and Harry bust up! Anyone?

Not sure how you patch that up!

You've got VDB agent rocking the boat already (although I agree he should be starting)

Plus bedding in the new signings as well as desperately needing 3pts.

So apart from the same old stories on Twitter, about agreeing personal terms but not fees. It's not looking very promising.

I was really hoping Woodward and Judge we're leaving it late before the dramatic triple signing of Sancho, Upemacano and Telles.

After achieving top 4 last season and looking like a half decent version of what Manchester United should be, I am amazed we haven't taken the next step. What happened to us being able to flex our financial muscle and being able to do things that over clubs can't in the transfer market?

Going to be a long season if know one else arrives!

RedHarry

1.) 28 Sep 2020 16:03:54
I don't know if you missed it, there kind of was a C.V. and mass house arrest/ lockdowns in the last few months which has undoubtedly affected the clubs finances.

I haven't seen the usual mega rich clubs that aren't backed by wealthy billionaires flexing their muscle. Real madrid haven't bought anymore, barcelona are basically having a yard sale for significant minority of their squad.

I still think we will get a left back and forward in before the window closes and that would be a good window given the circumstances.

2.) 28 Sep 2020 16:21:46
Dsg I completely agree but it makes me think why the club haven't accepted offers for surplus players surely fees and wages would come off of the clubs losses. Players like smalling rojo should have just been offloaded as its well documented they have no future at the club.

3.) 28 Sep 2020 16:24:31
You're dead right DSG, people should lay off of our fantastic transfer team. They always get the job done 🙄.

4.) 28 Sep 2020 18:01:57
I get your point angelred, i am no fan of the hierarchy and understand the criticism of their uselessness but if there is one window i will cut them some slack, its going to be this one tbh.

5.) 28 Sep 2020 19:59:38
Aston Villa have spent double DOUBLE what we have so far. We need to improve if we want to stay in the top 4 and seriously improve if we want to challenge for the title. VDB is a great signing but we need more. A lot more.

6.) 28 Sep 2020 20:10:37
I didn’t miss anything! Like I didn’t miss The Top 2 from last season have spent nearly £100m each. Chelsea are the exception has they missed a window, but they have still spent a lot. Were their finances not affected?

I believe “being able to do things in the transfer market other clubs can’t” was a direct quote from Woodward. So you must see where the frustration is coming from?

7.) 28 Sep 2020 20:46:34
They don't deserve any slack though DSG that's the thing. They are horrible at this and it's unacceptable at this club.

8.) 28 Sep 2020 20:48:29
DSG has to be on the payroll. Most rose tinted glasses fan behind GDS and Shappy I've seen for years.

9.) 28 Sep 2020 21:21:39
Yes i am on the payroll considering i just called the hierarchy useless in this same thread.

🤦🏽‍♂️.

10.) 28 Sep 2020 23:29:52
DanJames,

Thanks for the name check, a little weird with the stalking, I am a positive person and disagree with you so I’ve got rose tinted glasses? Allowed my opinion just like you are. Tit.

11.) 29 Sep 2020 06:23:59
Now now GDS, if anyone was calling you that, you'd have a meltdown. Especially if it was ed047 😂.

12.) 29 Sep 2020 10:45:29
Anyone else think DanJames could be Maze?

13.) 29 Sep 2020 20:33:32
Maze wow do you think . Do you remember the day he agreed with his own post with his second account. brilliant 🤣😂.

14.) 01 Oct 2020 00:48:04
Angel,

I think I could just about handle being called a tit, I’ve been called a lot worse.

{Ed047's Note - 😏🤣

Reading that Sarr on loan from Watford is an option!? If that is, I think we should definitely look at it. Would allow us to go big for Upamecano which I feel is more pressing than any other signing.

If the Telles rumours are true that’s good left back competition, our starting centre half for the next 8-10 years and a chance for Sarr to shine in the RM Position and for less than what Dortmund want for Sancho.

Ed’s or any of the regular posters, I’d be keen to hear your views and what your take on any of the above is.

1.) 21 Sep 2020 16:49:00
If (and that’s a big IF) the right wing option became a loan deal so that we could go big for a centre half + Telles, I’d be more than happy. However, I feel that we might go for just Telles plus a RW loan, in which case I’d be frustrated.

2.) 22 Sep 2020 10:13:39
I'd be delighted with all that but will be amazed if it happens

Doesn’t sound low. I’d say about right to be honest. Obviously that’s up to Ajax at the end of the day. But I definitely wouldn’t call it a “low” offer!

I think he would be a useful addition. Very pacey and works hard off the ball if match of the day highlights are anything to go by lol. Far more cost effective than Sancho.

Hey Ed 666s

That comment about enjoying the football was cold!

Funny

But cold dude!

RedHarry

{Ed0666's Note - I try and lighten this page up but I struggle at times mate. It’s all doom and gloom yet you’re only 3 points behind us in the league and where meant to have had a brilliant start. Beat us on Sunday day and you’re motoring again.

Spot on 2toms. We all have ideas of how to improve the squad, Just like Jose does. I would just like him to be the Jose from Porto or Inter who out coached his rivals rather than out spend them.
