Hey Eds,

Any interest in Ranocchia or Lichtsteiner. From what I understand they are out of contract in the summer and are now available to discuss possible contracts with teams outside of Italy.

Thanks in advance, and a happy and prosperous new year to all eds and posters.

JaMax

{Ed002's Note - No interested from Manchester United but there is from elsewhere. Both will get offers of new contracts but Lichtsteiner may go in January in a swap deal.}

Reports emerging that United will bid 25 million pound for Strootman in January once he has proven his fitness and gotten over his cruciate Injury.

Sabatini previously stated it would need to be a massive sum to tempt Roma to accept a bid for the player. So 25 million seems a little low in comparison to what he wants, that is unless we are hoping Strootman puts in a transfer request once he is aware of definite interest.

Just thought I'd pass along what I have heard and my opinions. Great work on the site Eds, Its very much appreciated

JaMax

1.) Rumours in one of the tabloids this morning that Mata may be used as a makeweight in the deal. If be tempted to spend the money and keep mata as well. Add a decent cb and that's a world class team

2.) I think it would be very silly to sell mata. Top player who will only improve with the likes of di maria and falcao around him

3.) Mata is a better player who is worth more. The only way I can see him used in any deal would be if we got Strootman and £20m for him - but that won't happen.

4.) Where would either Strootman or Vidal play? sure I know they are midfielders but its the defence we need to fix, get a world class cb or two and we are good to go. Evans is a mistake waiting to happen, smalling isn't good enough and Jones will spend to much time in the medical room.

5.) Lolface, one can only assume if Strootman were to sign he would play the role that Blind played yesterday. This would put Blind on the bench as a Utility player. Saying that though he played outstandingly well yesterday and I don't think Strootman is absolutely necessary. Defensive reinforcements and quality are needed first.

6.) Can't imagine why we wouldn't need someone like Strooty. It's not as if our players never get injured, is it now?

And (hopefully) we will be playing more tournaments next season.

Using that logic, we absolutely need a RB (and I love Rafael to bits), a top CB (agreed they are hard to come by), a Strootytype, and one more winger.

Then we can finally, and safely, thank Mssrs Young and Valencia for their years of selfless service.

We COULD (a man can dream) be genuine CL contenders in 2015 if all those pieces fall in place. f^&% me, i half sound like a ''pool fan with my talk of "next year will be our year". that's what last season did to us I suppose.

7.) You see if Blind carries on as he started I can't see him being dropped, sure it was just QPR but he broke things up and played the ball simply to a more creative player. I enjoyed his performance. Sure we will get injuries but we also have fewer games this year. I still think the defence or a cb is or should be priority.

8.) Well if United get in the champs league next season you need a better n bigger squad citah have Fernando n fernandinho in the same position it's a squad game now not just starting 11

9.) Keep smoking stuff boys he will never wear the red shirt. Not good enough.

Has anyone seen much of Sevilla's Krychowiak? He didn't play tonight but I have seen him play a number of times this season. He is a great fantastic player and one who could easily replace Carrick in my opinion.

JaMax

1.) 28 May 2015 02:00:37
He scored tonight !

Very disappointed with Herrera's dive late on. Other than that it was a decent display from most of the lads.Rooney is not a midfielder and Falcao will most definitely not be here next season.

I was very impressed with Shaw and his pace while he was on the pitch. Valencia even looked at threat going forward.

Chelsea are most definitely not a team I could watch week in week out. 29% and spent most of the time in there own half. Very disappointing from the soon to be champions

New signings in midfield are a must.

1.) 18 Apr 2015 23:13:48
I know what u mean but for now they will be lifting the title come may and i'm sure will forget the football they played to get it.

The real questions will come when they are not winning, then we will how the fans feel.

But for now they will be happy as we would if it was us.

2.) 18 Apr 2015 23:17:07

While you lot were playing rubbish the first 3 quarters of the season watch some of the stuff Chelsea played.

Good evening all. I was recently having a chat with a mate about Man City. The culmination of a lot of factors will result in City surely dropping our of the top 4 within the next 3 seasons.

These factors include the following.

Players Aging and over paid. Players (Toure, Zabaleta, Kolorov, Sagna, Demichelis) will be soon looked to move on, which will result in other players coming through. The currennt average age of their first team squad is 29. Now some might say City will buy big, But they will not be able to due to FFP and the fact they don't make enough money to allow them to spend massive amounts every season regardless of how much their owners want to pump in. This will force City to play their own Youth products. As we have not seen any products from that system in recent years break into their first team (Last one I can think was Micah Richards and Boyata to a certain extent) we can only assume it is not at the same level as ours, Arsenals,

The wage being paid. This will result in a lot of Cities aging plays finding difficulty in moving on unless they drop their wage demands, which I don't see any of them doing. A big sale may be necessary this summer to allow them to spend

Lack of Away Support. Watching City in the champions league at away games was strange seeing the away section almost empty really shows. This is one of the reasons why City don't make enough to spend big every seasons.

These factors will influence City Greatly in future seasons. It may be due to the rate of unstable growth as they did not have the foundation. A Large loyal fanbase being key, A trusted youth system enabling the generation of successful players either for sale (Generating Funds to achieve rigid standards of FFP) or playing in the first team.

These are the two main foundation blocks city did not have and in my opinion will result in a decline in there league position atleast for a season or two.

Sorry for the long post. I'd love to hear from you guys (Eds Included) about what you all think the future holds for City.

JaMax

1.) 20 Mar 2015 20:52:50
Couldn't care one way or another

2.) 20 Mar 2015 21:00:13
I understand where you are coming from and the points you make are valid.

However weather we like it or not I doubt city will be going anywhere any time soon. They will surely be looking to the future in the coming seasons and will be prepared to let the older names go.

3.) 20 Mar 2015 21:15:02
City will continue to splash the cash and will be around for a while yet

4.) 21 Mar 2015 02:30:18
Weggy, I agree that they will not be far from the top but rather less of a challenger for the title. They will most definitely be letting older players go, but will they find suitable buyers that will generate enough revenue to enable the to replace those players?

Jred, They need to abide by FFP rules and I don't see them having the ability to "Splash the cash" without facing some consequences.

5.) 21 Mar 2015 07:35:06
They will find a way around FFP JaMax. City will not decline for a long time yet.

6.) 21 Mar 2015 08:32:50
Jamax
there are ways and means

7.) 21 Mar 2015 11:04:42
Jamax, city will be here forma long time to come. The owners are investing vast amounts of money into the club, the facilities, the staff, the players. All the older players will be replaced by younger equally as good players.
Their scouting system is better than ours and they will continue to improve.
I agree with you that their support is pathetic and that will never change!

15 Mar 2015 19:13:33
Very happy with that display and the 3 points. The team played at pace which made it easier for us to breakdown Tottenham although saying that they did have a complete shocker.

I am very looking forward to the liverpool game next week.

Hey Eds,

With Recent reports saying Ancelotti may not be in charge of Real next season, do you think he would be considered for the management position if LVG does not continue next season?

Also Ed002 has mentioned that a number of high profile managers are going to be on the move this summer, Can you tell us who they are? I am aware it is of no consequence but would just like to think of the possibilities if any of them become of interest to United.

Thanks n advance for any info you can give.

JaMax

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to the detail.}

1.) 10 Mar 2015 10:47:20
Who would be your choice to come in JaMAX if LVG was dismissed?

2.) 10 Mar 2015 12:09:05
If he manager leaves, we need a manager who can build a team.

3.) 10 Mar 2015 14:01:30
Guardiola, Klopp, Simione, Or Blanc (Who I believe was also in the running when SAF retired) Would be good choices although they (Klopp and Blanc) havnt had the best of seasons with Dortmund and PSG(who should be walking Ligue 1) i'd be happy with any of those four as they all have some very good qualities, but i'd be ecstatic with Guardiola who is one of the best man managers in the game

While I can't help getting excited about the prospect of De Ligt stabilising our defence, we need to remember players have used us in the past to boost their own negotiating power when getting a new contract or putting pressure on a buying club to meet their demands.

I think this is what we are seeing and he will end up at Barca, i judt hope we put a cut off point on it instead of wasting the entire transfer window chasing a player who may have no interest in playing for us.

Balague is not very reliable when it comes to transfer rumours, although Pedro is definitely on our Radar and should be wrapped up sooner rather than later.

Cleverly looks set to join Everton and I think I read a report recently that said they were also interested in Evans as Distin was leaving this summer.

Realistically we should be beating West brom, Palace and Hull. Arsenal will be a tight game and can go either way. 9 Points for me and It will be enough to secure 4th place.

I inquired yesterday as if we had any interest in Wijnaldum, doesn't seem to have made it for some reason. Anyway he is a good player who knows LVG's system and would provide much needed quality in depth. As you have said JMB we will have more games next season and need the extra players.

He has also recently said he would like to work with LVG again as he feels he would make him a better player. Both Philip Cocu (PSV Manager) and Marcel Brands (Technical Director) have both stated that they believe both Wijnaldum and Depay will leave this summer.

Eds do you know of any interest from Manchester United in Wijnaldum?

JaMax

{Ed002's Note - There is none.}

I agree witb the basis of what you say Shappy, its wrong to just sake a manager because you don't wanna lose out on another. But with LVG's previous track record of falling out with people which in turn has affected the duration of his management of some clubs I feel like it is only a matter of time before a clash like that occurs again.
