Looks like a done deal at this stage now that Sporting have confirmed the interest.

Read a social media post saying with us finishing 2nd and the reorganized schedule there is no open week for our Round of 32 Europa League games to be played. Is there any truth to this?
If so, thank you once again FIFA for the brilliant idea of a winter World Cup.

I saw something saying that we have a midweek game every week after the world cup until the end of the season and there is no space for the two postponed EPL games.

No, of course that’s not the case, we will be playing the games as scheduled. We will have to play 3 games in a week later in the season if we get to the semi final of all competitions and need replays in all of the FA cup games, it’s just somebody trying to cause issues when there likely won’t be any. If we have to play 3 in a week it will be difficult but it will be because we have had a great season so I’m not worried.

Any club fighting to win trophies will have a fixture pile up and will have to dig deep.
We will be down to bare bones and tired legs on many an occasion but so will all the others.
It will be a mental game come the end of the season and for me so far that's where the team have made the biggest leap this season.
The play has improved don't get me wrong but the mentality has improved by a much greater degree.
The play and tempo and consistency will all improve in time and it will take time, and a few more personnel changes. But the mentality has already jumped very close to elite standard and quicker they we all thought I think.
The will, the desire, the courage to play and attack has improved hugely. The desire to work hard and be urgent defensively has also at a different level from last few years.
Of course we are long long way and still well short in lots of areas but attitude and will to win are attributes that can help us compete when the fixtures pile up.

Ken, good point about the shift in mentality. It does make a huge difference when the legs are tired and you need to dig deep, which like you say will almost certainly happen later in the season.

Not that anyone has been necessarily impressive to start the season (bar Amad), has anyone else been severely disappointed in Zirkzee? I don't see him excelling in any traits out there on the pitch.

Sell him, cut your losses on his wages and the amount they bought him for. Give Garnacho all of his game time he would have gotten along with Pellestri coming in for Antony and then Diallo when he's fit and ready again.

Always feel nervous playing Brighton. They seem to always get up for United and put on a display. Not surprised they have the winningest record against us compared to everyone else.
Hopefully a good solid week with all the new boys in training and we come out firing.

Definitely not the worst game for him to be thrown into the starting XI. Soton is decent but shouldn't make it a difficult transition game from La Liga to the Prem.
