The weekend games to be called off apparently.

I don't get that but if that's the decision what can you do.

Absolutely ridiculous if it is.

On one hand the death of a monarch is a big deal and this will have massive repercussions on the country in the short-term. There is only a small minority of the population who'll remember a different monarch sitting on the throne.

On the other hand life goes on. Cancelling everything doesn't do anything to show support. Surely it's better to play games, mark them with black armbands, have a minute's silence, mark the occasion to show respect.

From a football perspective cancelling games during a congested season with a World cup in the middle of it seems a bad idea.

Absolutely ridiculous. I now live down on the South Coast and regularly go up to watch United still, which isn’t a cheap day (s) out. Hotel, time off work and match tickets booked and paid for next week home to Leeds and it’s likely I’ll have to forfeit that money paid out. I don’t see how that’s OK as I know many reds who travel over from Ireland and abroad with the same problem now (with flight costs added in to the mix) .

If people choose to mourn someone and wish to cancel their plans, that’s their choice. But as with most things over the last few years, that choice is being taken away even if you don’t hold any regards to the reason that is forcing you to cancel your own life events. Shocking imo. Another form of unwanted tax on my own money.

The cancellations are more likely to be Policing resources going elsewhere!

Looks like the following week is off too so no Premier League footie for nearly a month now.

Ken, are you going to see Garth Brooks in Croke Park this weekend?

But the cricket is still allowed to go ahead? Bizarre double standards.

Plenty of ways to pay respect to HRH without cancelling peoples enjoyment.

May she rest in peace and sad day. I think cancelling games is a bit over the top as monarchies are symbolic emblems of the past. The world has moved a long way.

She was a head of state, lads. I'm certainly no lover of the monarchy, but really, what were you expecting?

Weekend off, and no sport. I just know my wife's going to have a list done. ?.

Have a box mumbles looking forward to it.
Not sure it will live up to his last shows here, I went then.
Not sure if I think that because he is older or I am??
Just glad to live in a country where everything is not cancelled.
I bet the place will be buzzing.
It very ironic to be in croke Park this weekend given the weeks events. ?.
