Has anyone seen much or Antony, and is he any good? Figures been thrown around are huge, and his numbers last season don't look great at all.

He has huge potential, is a great "YouTube" player. I don't mean that disrespectfully, just that he has a bag of tricks that look very pleasing on the eye. The issue is that they don't consistently work out or consistently have good end product.

The player he most reminds me of is Nani, huge talent, able to win games on his own, woefully inconsistent. Could put in a 9 out of 10 performance one week and a 4 out of 10 performance the following week.

He is young and he has only been in European football for two seasons. If he can improve his consistency he is potentially one of the best wide forwards in the world. However, these sort of attacking, creative players are the ones who struggle most to bring a level of consistency to their game. For every one than manages there are probably 20 who fall by the wayside never living up to their talent.

Anyone old enough to remember Kerlon? Was known for the "seal" dribble, running along keeping the ball in the air with his head. He was cast as the next Ronaldinho, moved to Inter I think then had numerous loan spells, including a spell at Ajax.

Supremely talented but was never able to translate that into consistently good performances.

For every Ronaldinho there are countless others with great talent who never make it.

Personally I think for between 35-40m Antony is worth the gamble. He is unlikely to consistently perform in the EPL in his first season. He'll have great moments, but few great games (much like Nani) . Maybe after a season or two he'll adapt and develop and turn that talent in to consistently great performances. But I don't think he's the guy who'll radically change our season this year. Which is why for the reported fees I'd be tempted to walk away. He won't be any more expensive next summer, in fact he'll likely be cheaper. While also having another year under his belt and hopefully more developed as a player.

Loved Nani, great player. He would have been remembered more fondly if we weren't watching ronny tear it up in la Liga. Sometimes you need a risk taker in wide positions, someone who can make things happen. Nani was 10 times better than any winger we have had in the last 10 years.

Dodgy, I loved Nani as well. A player who was capable of getting you off your seat.

He had a one great season, where he was one of our best players. But for someone who spent 8 seasons with us he never had the impact his talent threatened.

I wouldn't be unhappy if we signed Antony, but I'd have concerns that most fans would expect too much from him in his first season due to the fee paid.

I've not seen enough of either of these forwards we are linked with, so no idea if they would be successful. I am concerned where goals are coming from right now, so doing nothing doesn't feel like an option.

Be good to bring in some fresh faces and get us excited again.

I think Anthony at the reported £67.5m so far is bonkers. Let’s see what Garnacho can do. More important is who will score our goals, we need a goal scorer down the middle.

I am not a utd fan but Anthony is a player who could become a ballon do'r candidate if he has the right development. Hope he stays at Ajax and joins another team! hehe.

He’s a risk taker, which we need.
Rashford and Sancho have become far too ‘safe’ in their play.

Red Man, I keep on saying the same thing. Where are the goals coming from?

Depay lit that keague up. Psv and ajax have slmost no competition in that league and easy to build up your stats.

I think for every one winger that any clubs pays a crazy price that looks like a good deal, 20 turn out to be terrible.

80 mill as reported is pricing a player who should be worth 150 at 25/ 26. He is being priced like a can’t miss.

If he was that good, why are the other big european clubs not in there bidding.

To be honest if I was in Murtaugh's position and EtH is desperate for Antony I'd have a chat with Ajax and DvdB and see if he can be included in the deal to bring the price down.

€80m/ £67m rejected. If we could do something like €53m/ £45m plus DvdB then maybe everyone is happy. We get Antony without paying a ridiculous fee, Ajax get money and a player who has been very successful there before. While Donny gets to start to rebuild his career.

By the looks of it Donny will be a squad player at best. Maybe move him on while his value is still fairly high. Especially if we can just go to Leicester and get Tielemans for between 25-30m apparently as his deal runs out next summer.

Anthony in the right team will be a top top player. He is very talented and is an attacker of the type Utd have historically always had. Fast direct and with a good end product. Whether he is ready for the Premier league is debatable especially coming into a team like Utd where confidence is low and the defence and midfield both have issues. He needs a solid defensive platform behind him to give licence to his creative talents. I really hope we get him and that we see him flourish.
