Whats this fetish about selling Hojlund if we do sign Sesko? Going into another season with just 1 striker that too an unproven entity? Before people jump in and tell me that Cunha or Mbuemo or Fernandes could play there. Hell they can even Maguire can but that is not their position. Square peg round holes again. I say let both of them stay and fight for it. Nothing like having two young strikers pushing each other. We had 4 at one time if i remember.

Exactly this. Competition for places makes us stronger. Also for the £30m valuation going around it would make no sense whatsoever when we would still need to replace him. Plenty of other players to offload before him so we can get a MID and/ or GK (hopefully both) in before the window closes.

I'm in two minds about whether it's best to keep Højlund or sell him if Sesko is signed.
I agree that it does leave us short on options, and injury to Sesko or suspension and suddenly we have to change how our entire front line play to try and fit either Zirkzee in as the striker, or we play someone like Cunha or Mbeumo out of position.
On the other hand keeping Højlund isn't ideal either. Firstly, like Sesko he is young and developing, he needs both game time and ideally an older more experienced head to learn from and who can take some of the pressure off. Keeping him with him getting little game time or having another season like last season will only tank his value, making it that much harder to sell without taking a big financial loss.
Right now he's a 22 year old young player who had a promising first season and a difficult second, which could be as a result of the entire club suffering. Clubs will still be focusing on his potential and will hope that a change in environment and a fresh start could see him bounce back and realise that potential. However, if he's 23 and had two difficult seasons then people start to wonder whether he has what it takes to realise that early potential.
Finally we have fewer games this season, and with Chido Obi also at the club that would give us three young strikers all of which need game time to develop. With Chido still being 17 and unable to go on loan until the January window (once he's 18). That means that between now and Christmas (when we have no European games, and no FA cup games) we will need to try and find game time for all three young strikers.
I can fully see the dangers in selling or even loaning out Højlund. I actually feel like he will have a much improved season this year. There have been a few signs in pre-season, and with better creative players around him he should get more chances that he did last season. And he has shown himself to be a very good finisher of chances when he's confident.
However, I'm slightly falling on the side of selling him might be best (probably 60/ 40 in favour of selling him) .
He could do with a fresh start somewhere with less pressure. While I don't think the difference between Sesko and Zirkzee is as big as it is between Zirkzee and Højlund. Sesko is kind of a mix of the best bits both of them. He has that technical ability and link play of Zirkzee, but with the pace and finishing ability of Højlund. So switching between Zirkzee and Sesko shouldn't be quite as big a difference to how the front line set up/ play. Finally it creates more opportunities and space for Chido Obi who looks like a excellent young talent. The fact that he's 17 and is considered more a part of the first team squad than the academy just highlights how highly thought of he is at the club.
While the rumours of RB Leipzig being interested in Højlund as a replacement for Sesko could really play into our hands to get this deal across the line. Whether that's a loan with an option/ obligation or a full sale. I also think Højlund would be perfect to play alongside Openda in their 352 shape, having a slightly more experienced striker partner to share the load, while also playing in a very transitional league that suits Højlund's game. He might not be as complete a player as Sesko, but I think he has the potential to score more goals for RB Leipzig next season than Sesko did this season. It looks like a near perfect move for both clubs and the players.
If you're really worried about the club being left short if Højlund is sold then maybe a better solution would be to sign someone like Jamie Vardy on a one year deal as a free transfer.

Hojlund played most of last season and didn’t really kick on. So why would anyone think he will improve not getting any game time being a number two?
Obi’s already showing more potential. He’s 17 and still managed to create more in one cameo than Hojlund did in months.
Hojlund as a number two doesn’t help him or the team. If he’s not developing, and Obi’s knocking on the door, why not tidy things up and move him on? Makes sense.

I sincerely hope Sesko is a better finisher than Rasmus, who imo is an awful finisher always a split second late to the party, if your saying Sesko is the same level of finisher as Rasmus we might well be wasting 80 million AGAIN.
Let Rasmus go and get an experienced striker in on loan, one that Sesko can learn from, because what I seen Sesko is not nowhere near finished article and we are just buying potential, which seems the direction of the club now, hoping to have sell on values, which is fine, but do you ever reach the top with that mindset, I am not so sure
Garnacho had bags of potential as does Mainoo, but both going backwards fast.
I am really concerned about this building from the front, our GK’s are awful our CBs are poor, our midfield is dreadful. ! I am an avid RA supporter but I really am starting to worry now, if we try to get ball forward quicker which we need to, we are going to leave ga-s everywhere and zero pace from players to cover those gaps! We might need to score 3 or 4 every game to win, that’s not feasible, we will be lucky if our forward line scores 10-15 each, that’s won’t be enough if we are letting in right left and centre.

Shappy
You really want to see Rebecca Vardy swanning around and Vardy lording it whilst we have Kai Rooney coming through?
Anyone but Vardy
If they wanted a second striker Callum Wilson may have been a better bet. We don’t know how Obi will develop.

Just out of curiosity - What has Chido Obi done that he is getting the hype? Has he even played a total of 90 minutes yet? He may well come good but given our history of young players we usually hype them up and they believe the hype and then woosh.

With Red Man on this. We need good characters now and also good characters who are surrounded by good characters. Vardy is an iconic premier league striker but the circus that comes with him because of his persona is not what Amorim needs in this squad right now.

Kurtis, having two attackers behind him who'll actually pass might help.
I'm keeping the faith. Let the two of them push each other on.

German, i know Hojlund is always a second late, but he is not actually a bad finisher.
The difference with Sesko hopefully will be that he is there at the right time.
