Okay, after much thought I've decided, if we manage to get sesko over the line and in the door, what do our thoughts turn to next? A goalkeeper or a midfielder are widely touted. With Chelsea and Garnacho sniffing around each other like dogs on heat, my choice would be forgetting the 100 mil donkey 'Jackson' and putting the feelers out for Lavia in that swap situation. Young and raw maybe, but a quality operator. Too good to rot away in the abyss of the Chelsea squad in my opinion! Thoughts?

If we get Sesko our next signing afterwards very much depends on how we get Sesko.

If for example the deal includes Højlund going the other way, then we have effectively swapped one young player with potential for another young player with potential.

That still leaves us with just a unproven 22 year old and a 17 year old Chido Obi as our striker options. Which leaves us pretty light up top.

We've all agreed that the biggest issue with Højlund is that he hasn't had an older, experienced player to learn from and to play ahead of him so that he can come in and out of the line up to learn and develop his game.

If we replace Højlund with Sesko then surely Sesko will have the same issue. Therefore, I think we'd still need another striker. Possibly someone like Wissa or Mateta, older with EPL experience who might be available for 35-40m. Which should be our next target if Højlund leaves as part of the Sesko deal.

If Højlund stays and we have both Sesko and Højlund as options then we can look at either a midfielder or keeper at that point. As while not ideal having two 22 year old strikers, we shouldn't look to add a third player for what is one position in the team.

However, if we sign Sesko without including Højlund in the deal then that will cost us more money. It seems the crux between Sesko/ Watkins is down to value. United feel that Watkins is the better option, but don't value him at the 60m it will cost to get him. While they feel that Sesko is also over priced, his age and the potential to recoup some of that initial spend make him a less financially risky proposition.

However, the club had hoped to bring in Watkins for around 40-45m. If they end up bringing in Sesko for 65-70m then that's a lot more money spent and therefore less to spend on either a keeper or a midfielder.

As to which they should go prioritise, I think that depends on the role of the player they are signing.

If we are going for a genuine challenger for Onana, someone who has the ability and potential to take his place then we should definitely try and sign that keeper. However, I'd we are only looking at keepers who are solid back up, with the thought that Onana will stay as first choice this season then I'd rather us sign a midfielder as a midfielder will have far more impact on the team than a second choice keeper.

I think the only keeper in the world that could be 2nd choice to onana is bayindir.
So any keeper coming in will push onana for his place. He has been garbage since the day he signed.

Chelsea are definitely not sniffing around Garnacho ? they have J. Pedro, Gittens, Neto, Estevao, Palmer, Delap and Jackson with it looking likely they’ll also get Xavi Simons. Even if Jackson left there’s still no space for Garnacho.

I'm not sure at what point Bayindir become so maligned among us.
There was a stage last season where he came in and did quite well. Jump forward a few months and he's another laughing stock. How have we ended up in this situation lol.
Looks like a few stellar names like Donnarumma/ Costa continue to be linked, can't see those happening myself. There were a few English GKs avail recently like Trafford and Ramsdale who might have been worth punts but missed the boat on those.

Fuser, do you even follow football? Majority of the players you mention aren’t even wingers and would have no impact on signing a winger whatsoever!? There is definitely space in Chelsea’s squad for a winger and they’ve even talked about getting one in themselves? Open your eyes mate, fabrizio Romano tweeted just this morning that Chelsea are actively pursuing deals for both simons and garnacho. It’s literally everywhere you look!
