I'm not someone who reads too much into tactics or pretends to understand loads. But I watched the game with someone who coaches yesterday, and all he said to me was you can see a well coached side in what they do without the ball.
It got me thinking about us. We can't press very well, we constantly leave gaps in midfield and behind our full backs. Time and time again the defensive mid is exposed and teams have a free run at us.
Yes the shot conceded stats have been down this season a bit, but we've played arguably 3 good sides in Brighton, Liverpool and spurs and for the best part we've been miles off.
Now the reports this morning are he's going to be in charge of the next 2 games. I honestly can't believe it. No one wants a manager sacked because it means the results are not good, but it's getting very hard to even want to flick the telly on to watch this dross. Last season and the beginning of this has sucked away pretty much all enjoyment/ excitement around watch United.

I think the whole club needs to go through a reflection process. The managers fate is out of his hands, but the players need to seriously take a look at themselves and decide if they are willing to play and fight for the club and each other, if not we just need to simply get drop and get rid.
Whether the manager is around for that is a separate question, and rightly or wrongly Ineos will make that decision. The only thing I think will help ETH cause is that he will now have more allies in the changing room backing him, and I think it is a handful that are causing problems.
It will be an interest couple of weeks/ months, the media will love every second of it, and no doubt we will see every manager linked to us again. As Doris Day once sang, Que Sera, Sera.

I read your first sentence above caolan and I had to scroll down to see who wrote it. At first I thought your first sentence was a confession from etch. Ha ha.

My friend is a coach of a Premier League youth team. He said he had no idea how bad United's first team were until he watched the entire game yesterday. Maresca has taken literally a couple of months to get Chelsea looking like they know what they are doing. One Hag has taken two years to do the opposite. I'm sick to death of watching us schooled tactically by almost every team we play. He has to go.

RWWD- if you can watch our youth teams. There’s some stunning football on show at times.
Only silver lining of things atm.

We can debate systems, structure, tactics line ups and try and lay the blame at someone's door. The players were awful collectively. some of the stuff that was happening was basic stuff that should not happen at this level.
The marking of players like Maddison and Kude was so bad and caused us all kinds of problems. We were so far off them that the only way was to get there late and foul Madisson repeatedly. Just a really poor day by everyone involved. No one gets a free pass when you turn in a performance like that.

Ahmad we have lost 8 of our last 20 games at old Trafford 40% loss record.
We have won 1 of our last 9 European fixtures.
The manager over last 28 games has a worse record than gary neville at valencia.
We had a neg goal difference last season and again this.
The manager is responsible and answerable for all the above
€700m spent on 21 new players for him and he produces a team that delivers disorganised chaos. He is useless.

The players couldn’t give 2 hoots. They still get to go home to a model wife, mansion, millions in the bank and numerous cars
They’ll all blame each other with no one taking responsibility
Out of this whole squad I can honestly say I’d only keep 2 players 100% with a few others maybe but the rest are average at best and are stealing a living
I backed Ten Hag but can’t see how he comes out of this
All we want to see is some passion and desire not much to ask when getting paid Astronomical amounts.

Wouldn't it be great if, when a manger is fired, there was the option to get him to take with him all the unwanted players he brought in at no cost to the club!

Tumble
I am not bothered about what happened last year and the stats means nothing to me. injury galore different team. I am very disappointed we have lost two games at home to top 6 rivals in such a pathetic way.
Granted managers are the first line of firing but what some players did yesterday is not a manager thing. Granted his team his selection and he will wear it and players don't get fired mid season.
I was stunned by what we were doing in the first 20 minutes. We are not talking about highly difficult stuff but abject failure of hitting a simple pass or using their heads and simple stuff that you expect from top pros not making a bad start any worse after conceding a cheap goal.
Roy Keane talks about this stuff all the time that managers can do very little when the heat is on and its up to players and individuals to get it together, organize other players around you etc etc
People are going to say its how they are coached, you can coach systems, structures, positioning etc etc but what a player does in a split second when under pressure is an individual thing. We have had many players over the last 5 to 10 years that have seen multiple managers come and go and no one has transformed them into something they are not.
We created our own pressure cooker in the first 20 minutes by just one bad pass after another or one poor decision after another. Watch the game again and many individuals taking turns being really bad and losing their composure.
Reality is we look terrible when we play teams that press us properly and these players don't react well to pressure and that's on the manager to figure it out. Not just this one but also the next guy if they make a change.
its a bit like golf I guess you can stripe it on the range before going out and miss nothing. Then you go out and hit a few bad shots, Some guys are good at dealing with bad shots and get it going again and some just go from bad to worse. Mentally very frail.
I used to dismiss it but maybe Neville has a point when he says the pressure of playing for united and the weight of the expectations turns good players into average players. What we saw yesterday we have seen before. Other cast members a different manager some with great resumes and some with average resumes but the same script.

Ahmad all players at the club he either signed or deemed them good enough.
It’s time to stop hiding behind the excuse of the players constantly. It’s clear there’s no belief in what they’re being asked to do.
