Lots of interesting and conflicting stories flying around - most are quite good news for us though.

A quick summary:

- De Gea: He may or may not go and as of this morning he is apparently still very unsure if he should move to Madrid. Madrid have apparently set a deadline to decide so hopefully that passes before he decides. Nevertheless, if he were to move on it sounds as though we have a good chance of getting Cech.

- Right Back: A position that is a little up in the air, the Clyne deal is very much on/off. But Dani Alves apparently has 4 offers on the table and has turned down Barca's last contract offer. You would assume that one of the 4 offers is from us?
We could well end up with Alves which I think would be a great signing with his experience, ability on the ball and attacking credentials.

- Centre Back: A toss up between Otamendi and Hummels. I still think that Hummels will probably move but it depends how hard we push. Dortmund will be resilient and will want to keep Hummels given that Klopp and Gundogan will be going. Otamendi at the moment probably looks the more likely - a good combative player, may suit the EPL better than Hummels actually.

- Number 6: It is clear that we need competition for Carrick, could Schweinsteiger be that player? For under £10 million for a World Cup winner, Champions League winner etc is a bargain. 3 or 4 years too late but he could still do a great job for us. I'd love him to come in/

- Another Midfielder? Will we get 2?! I think we probably need to. A box to box midfielder with good energy that allows Hererra to be a bit higher up the pitch to get involved with the goals some more. Gundogan is looking less likely by the day, Nainggolan is a possibility but at 28 is he right? The ideal one would be Vidal but would he leave Juve? Would they let him in the year that they reach the CL final but lose Pirlo and Pogba? I think we would do well to get him.

- Wings: Yay, we have Depay and not Sterling! Thank god he went for us! Do we need one more? Well, it would be a luxury wouldn't it. If Bale is available though we can't very well turn him down - but is Perez willing to let his favourite go? I'm not so sure.

The way I see it, we will have had a very successful summer if we sign Alves arrive on a free, either Otamendi or Hummels, Schweinsteiger for under £10 million, try and get Vidal and then make a push for Bale - but I think Depay, Di Maria, Mata and Januzaj as well as Young are very good options to have. Oh, and Cech for De Gea if he does run to Madrid!

i would be delighted if it panned out that way

How great would our defense be if we could get in Hummels and Otemandi. left and right so balanced. Ball playing and combative so would work well together.
Lot of money to secure both but why scrimp in an Area we all say we are lacking!!

I would love that fresh. It would not need a healthy budget also :)

It would be around a £100 million spend but we could expect nearly £30 million back with the same of Evans, Hernandez and Nani. And if worst came to worse we would buy a goalkeeper like Cech for much less than we sell De Gea.

It seems to be quite a healthy looking plan to me.

This discussion is cool! My opinions:

GK: I prefer De Gea to stay, but, in case he goes. I would bring Bernd Leno. He's supposed to be the next big thing when it comes to goalkeeping. Cech is a little bit on the injury prone side, although I'm a fan.

RB: Alves problem is his age. When a fullback starts to decline, it usually goes down hard. It's not like other position, as I think the fullback position demands too much on the physical part. I would go for Dani Carvajal, as Real Madrid made a little mistake in buying Danilo.

CB: Latest reports saying that Hummels prefers to stay broke my heart! Although, he's a little bit on the injury prone side too. Otamendi was a beast this year and, although I don't like his age, he would be a step up, no doubts in my mind. And actually, I would not go for Aymeric, at least for now.

LB: If we have the money, I would actually go for a leftback. I like Shaw, but his injuries demands at least another leftback, and also, we should not haste his development as he's only 19/20 years old. My choice would be Ricardo Rodriguez.

MC: That position is interesting, as almost all the best box-to-box players in the world had serious injuries the past year: Vidal, Strootman, Pogba, Gundogan.
Aside maybe one, and it's Koke. I would actually go for him, although he's not as good as the others, but mught become.
Schweinsteiger problem is his age, and kinf of injury prone too. Nonetheless, awesome player.

Striker: that is one problematic position! I can't see many young, or even full fledge strikers that are worth the money! Rooney might still be our best possible option. If Falcao and van Persie go, I would try to sign Lacazette. although 35 million pounds is a bit much.

Sidenote: Ronaldo and Bale? No for both as their prices are too high! The first one, although the second best player in the world, is more than 30 years old, and the second is too injury prone to cost 85 million pounds!
