I read the report in the Mirror about the club agreeing a new contract for Ole and immediately checked the date, however quickly realised it isn't 1st April.

I read this, Woodward believes Solskjaer has restored the club's DNA missing under previous bosses Jose Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal with an emphasis on emerging young talent and attacking football. What? Is Woodwards seat at games facing the pitch?

Incompetence in the dugout now matched by the boardroom.

If true, I will feel every bit as bad as I did when Moyes was appointed. The difference is my age, back then I thought I would sit out the 6 year contract, now I am older sitting waiting for the club to wake up in years to come is not easy. The lunatics really would be in charge of the asylum if this is true.

It would appear they are living in the past in hope of returning to the top.

Moving in the right direction ole coming up to the last 12 month in his contract.
Of course he will get a new contract.
Tough game today, west ham have been playing well and our injuries are mounting.

He’s done well to harmonise a lot of the previous disruption but he’s taken them as far as he can now. Time to hand over to a more tactically aware, experienced manager for the next phase.

Do you really think Ole would be head hunted by anyone?

A new contract when we don’t know how the season will end is madness. Why do the club keep kicking themselves in the foot, whilst other clubs take action.

Do you really think with Ole in charge we will finish above Peps City, Klopps Liverpool or Tuchels Chelsea next season?

Managers get sacked and walk into jobs every day .
Look at jose, sacked with chelsea just above the relegation zone, got the united job .
Sacked at united in mid table got the spurs job.

This is imo the best united squad for a while, we have a lot of exciting young players coming through .
Defo moving in the right direction with the manager about to go into the last 12 month of course he was going to get a new contract.

Maybe things aren't as bad as you like to make out 🤷‍♂️.

Red Man he’s on course at the moment to finish above two of those three managers.

Either way I think there’s been progress- could be better but could be a lot worse still. We all know contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on anymore so I’d say it’s unlikely he will see it out.

The most obvious decision is to wait till the end of the season.

With a lot of talented players, our play style is rubbish and is getting worse game by game instead of improving.

Red Man, you missed the point. You said that incompetence in the dugout now matches the incompetence in the boardroom.

The point is the people in the boardroom are the same people who have been their over the past 8 years. They appointed Ole, and told him to get top four. He did last season, and is on course to do so again.

He will keep getting contract renewals right up until he finishes 5th.

Then he'll be sacked, the same incompetent board will hire the next manager (probably just as poorly), and that manager will also be tasked with keeping the club in top four and keep the trust fund paying out for our owners.

This is what I mean when I say sacking Ole will change very little.

Because simply there is no ambition to actually go out and seriously try and win things.

Which top managers will want the United job? They'll see how the club treated Moyes, LvG, Jose and Ole. They'll see limited backing, a miss matched squad, unrealistic expectations based on what they will actually have to work with and a club with absolutely no direction and more importantly no ambition to change the course of direction.

The Ed's have joked about Sam Allerdyce getting the United job, but I seriously wouldn't bet against it.

You want to stamp you're feet, and you want to make change happen at our club then you need to direct your anger at the owners and the board and not the manager.

If the ship is heading off course you need to sack the captain (owners) or the navigator (chief executive), not the head chef (manager) whose only trying to make the best meal with the ingredients he has.

Red Man if that’s what the article says then I think it’s absolutely spot on.

Ole has played youngsters and the signings have been better than under previous managers.

That doesn’t change the fact that we are absolutely dire to watch, but let’s not confuse the two things.

What exactly is the United DNA, it’s mentioned a lot about players, staff etc but what does it mean? Or is it just a buzz word?

I don't know the answer, it will depend on how results go in the future .
But of course he has or will be given a new contract for all the reasons given above .
I honestly don't think things are as bad as you like to make out.

Why not I think we will finish above klopp and tuchel this season .

Sepp, the manager gets backing when the club need to make it into the top four, however once there the purse strings stay fairly tightly shut.

Jose gets 2nd place, wants a CB, a RB, a RW and a CAM, in the summer he gets Fred, Dalot and Grant.

Ole gets 3rd, wanted Sancho and Grealish and got budget Dutch Grealish, two kiddies (one of which wouldn't join until January) and Cavani on his last legs.

While if you listen to Moyes, LvG and Jose they mostly got their 4th or 5th choice signings because they we cheaper, more marketable or the only players the club could sign.

That seems very much like limited backing even if huge sums have been spent or in most cases wasted.
