The rebuild starts now. Without UCL football it is likely that we will have to adjust our targets/ plans for the summer and beyond.

It isn't just about transfer fees, but wages as well as our ability to attract our top targets.

Maybe with UCL football and the money that comes with it we could have persuaded Gyökeres to join, without it then Delap is probably far more likely now.

Likewise will we be able to bring in a midfielder like Ederson for what 55m without the additional funds and prestige of UCL football, possibly not. So maybe we have to look at cheaper and more realistic alternatives. Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough wouldn't be the worst signing.

Mbeumo for 60m from Brentford might be a bit of a stretch, it could be Dibling now from Southampton for 35-40m.

We will also likely have to move on a few more players now as well to raise funds.

Garnacho might have put the final nail in his coffin with his ill-advised social media posts and comments.

Maybe players like Collyer could be sold to raise more funds as a homegrown player, and as someone who isn't going to be considered vital to keep. Or maybe Fredricson.

Would selling Collyer and signing Hackney make sense? I see the financial side but realistically how much are we getting for Collyer? Wouldn’t it be better to keep our academy graduates who have tasted first team football and try to get them playing the ‘Amorim way’.

What is the point selling Collyer for say what 5-10m and paying more with Utd tax for Hayden, realistically is he even any better!
That’s just turning players over, personally I would work with Collyer and shift on Ugarte, try actually to gain some money, if that’s all we are concerned about.
Ugarte is it, he ain’t getting any better, least with Collyer there is a possibility.

2Toms, does Amorim rate him?

He's played 308 minutes of football under Amorim.

Given that he has played Eriksen more despite him being awful, suggests that Amorim either doesn't think Collyer is good enough or ready to play at this level.

While I will always advocate a youth player being given a chance. We do have to think logically.

Does it make sense to keep a player to play 3 or 4 matches worth of minutes next season, over selling them and bringing in a player who'll play 20 matches worth of minutes or more?

I think we need to ballsy and pick our chins up off the floor.

I’m with you Shappy, we should be looking at the best players in the EPL and Championship. I don’t think we can risk expensive signings from Serie A.

Liverpool were in a similar position around 10 years ago. Bought sensible from EPL teams and Championship clubs. Very similar to what Fergie did.

I'd personally keep mainoo amad garnacho yoro and collyer. Everyone else I'd listen to offers.
Collyer has had a few injuries this year but when he has played looks a neat and tidy player. I wouldn't be cashing in on him.
Need to move Shaw onana mount players like this befire we think about shifting the likes of mainoo or collyer.
