Wingers.

I understand Amorims system doesn't call for conventional wingers/ wide forwards, but I wanted to raise a concern about not having enough of them in the squad.

Antony, Garnacho and Rashford all potential leavers.

If things don't work out with Amorim and we change manager, the likelihood is that the successor will want wide forwards (not many sides play without them) .

We will be in a situation again where a manager gets a free pass because they didn't choose squad, don't have the right tools etc.

The main concern is how expensive wide forwards are to buy (eg Sancho and Antony) . I can see us being in a real expensive pickle where we need an attacker on each side.

If the 3 above were to leave, it would leave only Amad in the whole squad who would slot into one of those roles. Even future academy grads will not get first team experience as a wide attacker as the manager doesn't use them

But fingers crossed it doesn't matter because the Amorim reign will be long and successful!

Rashford and Antony for 18 months have stunk the place out.

Garnacho I think lacks real quality when it comes to end product. I get what you’re saying, but even if Amorim doesn’t work based on what we’ve seen recently I’d imagine any new manager would want them upgraded.

Your concerns have been duely noted.

Don't worry about it. Antony's only gone until the end of the season and nobody wants Rashford at his price. Quite possibly no team will match the valuation Utd need to make selling Garnacho worthwhile. If Amorim goes soon the next manager will also be stuck with them.

Players can adapt and learn to play in a system just like amad is showing, he is as you say a natural forward but looks at ease playing as both wing back and SS

In some aspects the 2 players behind the striker still play as a winger as you seen last night garnacho was hogging the line and the wing back often came inside underlapping and zirkzee was often dropping to link so the 2 wide players made the runs behind

The main players for this system are the wingbacks if we get those sorted the players infront won’t be an issue weather it’s a winger/ wide forward or inside forwards/ ss

The players have to be comfortable playing in multiple positions in a team.

Very very simplistic I know but I still do not get why we do not/ cannot put the ball into the box? We faff about trying to walk it into the net. It isn’t working!

One cross and bang we score a goal. There’s a hint right there! We keep stating that we need wingers/ wingbacks but until we use them to do a job then they are just another player on the park with zero direction.

We have collectively slated players like Weghorst, Hoijland etc but as yet have never really provided a reliable service for them to live or die by.

I just want football I can watch and be excited by. going to be a long wait but I shall persevere.

When wide, our players look up and see hoylund and then look for a cut back or second option. We need to be more prepared to play simple football in the final third and then the spaces will open up.

Amorim stacked his sporting team with wingers who were creative and could carry with pace. That is why I'm not a fan of selling garna, he is young and could develop into one of the roles.
