Ed002, you mentioned last week that Manchester United have considered at least two players for the centreback position. A few days ago, Antonio Rüdiger was linked to the club, and yesterday, media reports said José Giménez was being looked at. Would you be in a position to know which defenders the club is considering for the centreback position?

Also, when you have time, please update us on Manchester United's likely player goings and comings in the winter transfer window.

Thank you.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - I will explain next week.}

1.) 02 Nov 2016 13:04:27
Sorry Ed002, I've just posted about Jose Gimenez and didn't read this, ignoer it pls, i'm looking forward to hearing your views :)

2.) 03 Nov 2016 08:58:29
Thanks Ed002, will wait for next week.

3.) 06 Nov 2016 13:55:34
Great thanks Ed002, will really look forward to this ☺️.

4.) 15 Nov 2016 13:00:11
Ed002, any chance you could give us the explanation you mentioned a couple of weeks ago?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Thursday I would think.}

Ed002, the other day you mentioned a possible four players leaving, and three coming in during the January transfer window. I understand nothing is cast in stone as regards transfers but could you please shade more light on who these players are (if you have time obviously)?

Also, what is your take on Leon Bailey and his constant link to Manchester United?

Thanks.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - Genk's Leon Bailey is continuing to attract the attention of a number of sides, particularly those from England who would like a deal before the opportunity for him become home grown disappear. He has previously opted to turn down Chelsea for Genk where he new opportunities would be better. Ajax, have sustained their interest whist Manchester City, West Ham and Manchester United have all been watching the kid. There has been an approach to Chelsea to see if they are still interested.

In terms of the other question, you need to wait until there is time available for me to deal with the transfers in a slightly different manner to the norm - perhaps a couple of weeks.}

Thanks in advance for any time you can spare - much appreciated.

I'm guessing Darmian and Rojo will leave in Jan but curious to know who others might be.

2.) 12 Oct 2016 11:43:18
Thanks for the reply Ed002, much appreciated. I'll wait for your response on other question.

3.) 13 Oct 2016 13:23:59
Jones maybe? Rooney?

4.) 14 Oct 2016 11:11:02
Rojo, Jones, Darmian, Basti and Schneiderlin can all leave as far as I am concerned. Frees up lots of wages and generate extra cash. That's five players who add very little to our team currently.

Bring back CBJ who is playing well at Wolves as cover for Shaw, move Blind back to centre, Coleman from Everton if possible in January (Koeman may do a deal if he can get Morgan back) and we have a good enough squad.

Ed002, Could you please share any info you may have about Manchester United's rumoured interest in Bernard Mensah of Vitória Guimarães?

Thanks.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - Vitoria Guimaraes' midfield player Bernard Mensah is being hawked around Europe by third party owner Jorge Mendes who is seeking €16M with €10M going to his club. Whilst he has persuaded scouts of Manchester United to watch the player, Chelsea declined the offer whilst Monaco, Inter and Valencia have a declared interest.}

1.) 08 May 2015 13:57:49
I say take a chance! We've done a lot worse!

2.) 08 May 2015 15:05:46
Thanks Ed002 as always.

3.) 08 May 2015 16:28:11
Take a chance haha because mendes asked. look what happened with Bebe.

4.) 08 May 2015 17:22:34
Mendes has far too much influence at United.

A question for Ed002 if you can spare some time: What is the latest situation on Atletico Madrid's Koke? Any interest in him from clubs such as Manchester United?

Thanks.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - Discussions are underway between Atletico and Chelsea regarding Koke.}

1.) 08 Apr 2015 21:13:30
Would a move for Koke end any Chelsea pursuit for Pogba ed?

{Ed002's Note - I would not look to complicate matters.}

News coming out of Portugal this morning is that Manchester United have made a bid of €20m for Sporting Lisbon's Marcos Rojo. It's headline news for Portugal's leading newspapers. Sporting Lisbon want all the money upfront, while Manchester United want to pay €12m now and €8m later.

fytzm

1.) This could be paper talk but he would solve one of the centre back positions.
Interesting that it says that United do not want to pay the full amount up front because you get the feeling that this is the way thay Woodward does his negotiating.

2.) Woodward said we had £200m to spend and now he's trying to shave off £8m on a deal for a defender which is one of the key positions we need!

The season starts in 4 days and we are still waiting on a Centre Back, Defensive Midfielder & Winger. yet we have money to burn according Eddie boy! Yeah right!

4th/5th place next season with this squad.

3.) Really makes sense to buy ANOTHER left sided player.

4.) Simmo, he can play as the left CB and can also fill in at LB. Sort of Evans' current job in the side.

5.) He followed a load of Man Utd players last week on Instagram, reports of a bid today. This one could have some legs. He's a CB who can fill in at LB, tenacious and a good passer. My thought is he would work well in the three man defence, let's not forget that LVG seems to get the best out of players. Just look at the way Young is playing.

Stu

6.) Stu, what I liked about him at the WC was his speed. Didn't realise he was 6ft 4" tall. That's some pace for a lad that tall. I thought he was a bit like Buettner at the WC. Good going forward, but rusty at the back. If he can be moulded into a top CB (of three), then £15.9m is buttons in today's market. Wages will be very low to, probably not as low as Carvalho's One Grand a week mind.

7.) Agreed Sydney, I'd be happy with him and Blind as defensive reinforcements. Let's be far, Hummel's isn't going to happen.

8.) Stu, according to the editor we are now looking at Benatia as an alternative to Hummels. Rojo as an alternative to Vermaelen is what we know from today.

9.) Will be pretty happy if we signed him to be honest, was impressed with how aggressive he was in the WC we need more players that don't mess about. Could really do with a left footed CB too but what does this mean for Blackett who I think was the stand out youth player in pre season?

10.) Hey Sydney, reports are popping up that Rojo has handed a transfer request in and wants the Man Utd move. A solid 6 footer will do just fine, as you said not expensive. LVG said he will only sign players who can play his system, maybe this week is when the signings come in. I'd like the others to be Blind, De Jong, Di Maria and Vidal.

11.) Stu, to be fair we don't need Blind and De Jong. Blind is a defensive midfielder.

12.) Sydney, is Blind not versatile in LB, CB and DMC? If we do go for De Jong. Surely he would be our bit of steel in midfield. Blind would be perfect cover in three positions.

Ed002, could you please share with us any information that you may have regarding Pep Guardiola and Manchester United? There are rumours flying around about Jose Mourinho currently but I'd rather hear your views on this.

Thank you for your time.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - Pep Guardiola will consider what options he has available going forward - he has no signed contract or agreement with any team at present. To date he has turned down two offers but nothing impacting Manchester United. If they were to make an offer then I am certain he would be interested in considering it. Mourinho has verbally turned down the chance of an offer from one club and will likely do the same if an offer came from another club. Again - none of this impacts Manchester United. If time were to come that Manchester United were to look to change manager, he would I am sure be interested. I am not so certain if the same would be true of all of the decision makers at the club. I explained the situation for the club over the weekend.}

1.) 21 Dec 2015 16:08:22
Great info Ed, thanks!

16 May 2014 13:36:25
Ed02, you said PSG are in a difficult situation with UEFA and will need to sell to buy to help start balancing the books. This was in reference to a prospective deal for Pogba. What is the situation with Man City regarding the signings of Mangala and Fernando in relation to Financial Fair Play considering Mangala is one of the defenders Manchester United have looked at previously?

Thanks in advance.

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - Similar. They are through the "just spending" period and need to start balancing the books. They have plenty of players that can be sold.}

Andy Mitten wrote a few months ago that Manchester United had tied down Wilson to a long-term contract. I think that was before McNair and Blackett extended their contracts.

Ed002, we have been waiting for your promised explanation (as regards Manchester united perceived January transfers) for the last few weeks now. Does this mean we won't get it now?

fytzm

{Ed002's Note - It means it won't be done today and will need to wait until all others have been done.}
