Stories started with AWB done for 55m.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 10 Jun 2019 13:24:14
Hope it true.

2.) 10 Jun 2019 13:31:44
That would be excellent
James ✅
AWB ✅.

3.) 10 Jun 2019 17:06:26
Initial reports we bid £40 million yesterday do you believe clowns like Ed have gone straight to £55 million in a day, took us a month to buy a player at £15 million. I fully expect we will be overpaying for fourth or fifth choice players a week before the deadline closes, as usual.

4.) 10 Jun 2019 18:02:58
M. E. N reckon the bid was made and rejected a week ago (Not sure how reliable they are) . May be Utd have made another bid.

5.) 10 Jun 2019 18:51:35
If it takes 60 million pay it because if we don’t someone will and we’ll end up with 2nd or 3rd choice and regret it, get him and we’ve got a class fullback for next 10 years, looks like 50 million going rate for a decent fullback now.

6.) 10 Jun 2019 20:44:42
I’m as eager as anyone to see our squad improved but I don’t get the “just pay it” approach. There are budgets and valuations to consider. Would like us to sign AWB, looks to have everything needed to be a top modern day full back, but he’s not worth £60m+ with 1 good season under his belt, even in today’s market.

Would be interested to know what fee Palace would quote if the likes of Everton and West Ham were enquiring. Probably half what we’ve been quoted.

7.) 10 Jun 2019 21:30:24
Why would Palace sell him to Everton or West Ham for half the price? That just doesn't make sense. Palace are under no pressure to sell, he's one of the most promising full backs in the country, the player isn't agitating for a move, he's still under contract so if somebody wants him they'll have to make Palace an offer they can't refuse.

Didn't Everton buy Richarlison from Watford for around £50m after only playing one season in the Premier League?!

It's the same for the likes of Maguire and Maddison. Their values are being pushed through the roof as Clubs are no longer under financial pressure to sell players, they are better equipped than ever before to retain their best players so if players have signed long term contracts getting them from other Club's is difficult and very expensive.

8.) 11 Jun 2019 00:39:50
Jaime,

Dan James’s father died while we were sorting out the deal, did you want the club to ignore than just so we looked like we had completed the deal quicker? Sure you would still have found something to moan about then.

9.) 11 Jun 2019 03:38:17
I heard. this is the time Ed has taken " pay whatever is rigidly asked and close the deal" approach. That's why second bid is excatly what palace has asked for. I mean it would be with add ons but matching. it also says it will be done till 14th this month.

10.) 11 Jun 2019 07:19:07
DLIB I think you missed my point slightly, which is because we are Manchester United the price becomes inflated because other clubs know we spend silly money.

If you took away out interest like it never happened, and other clubs were sniffing around, I don’t think the price would be as high.

11.) 11 Jun 2019 11:11:01
Wazza, that has been true for the last 15 years or more. Clubs know Utd have the money, so they up their price, and they know we can't just drop interest and go for a second choice, because the second choice will have their price inflated too.

12.) 11 Jun 2019 15:34:07
Thorne, I know, that is what I’m saying.

09 Jun 2019 14:50:49
Lots of news nd rumour flying around that we have agreed Bruno Fernandes deal and it's almost done. He is next in line to join the club soon.

One of the Red Devil

{Ed004's Note - Hopefully sign him up and Wan bissaka this week}

1.) 09 Jun 2019 15:20:06
If true, James, AWB and Bruno are fa gastric signings and it’s business done early.

Hopefully a few on here will chill their beavers when the signings are made official.

2.) 09 Jun 2019 15:33:14
That would be a great start Ed004. I think this would allow us to continue to work on the other areas of need and slowly build. I also think these would encourage others to come and join the rebuild and believe in what we are doing.

{Ed004's Note - Then focus on securing a centre back and holding midfielder. Those 5 signings would be a top window. If Lukaku goes then replace him too}

3.) 09 Jun 2019 17:23:50
Now mentally picturing the usual suspects sitting around chilling beavers.

4.) 09 Jun 2019 18:22:39
I prefer my beavers hot, not chilled.

14 May 2019 03:19:13
Rumours today's says Pogba off to Madrid in a 140m deal? Excellent business than. only if that money doesn't go to pocket like Ronaldo's and we re-invent it immediately for rebuild.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 14 May 2019 06:20:03
No one is paying that for pogba, that's why madrid and juve are trying to include players in the deal.

If it was my decsion i would sell him to juve and get cancelo and dybala, provided they want to come, whether that's in seperate deals or a swap deal.

2.) 14 May 2019 07:09:39
That would be my ideal scenario as well DSG. Two positions covered and poison removed from our dressing room.

I’m sure it will drag on all summer.

3.) 14 May 2019 09:13:15
I have some concerns about Dybala, i think he might be a bit of a luxury player that the team isn't good enough to carry right now and I wouldn't want us to get Pogbas huge wages off the books and then give Dybala similar money.

That being said if it was a straight swap pogba for Dybala and Cancelo I'd totally take the gamble just to get Pogbas out of the dressing room, Dybala and Cancelo can't have a more negative impact on the team than Pogba has.

4.) 14 May 2019 09:27:38
I would rather do a swap with Madrid for Varane and Kroos. Highly unlikely obviously.

5.) 14 May 2019 11:45:37
MonDieu, why go for Kroos? He's already 29. We need to buy young players with pace, power and energy and obviously talent to compete at the top level. Preferably in their mid 20's.

We need to eradicate the quick fix mentality and stop buying the end-of-career type players who are probably looking for a final payday and target younger players with the right attitude and skills.

6.) 14 May 2019 13:05:14
We do need a few experienced heads in the dressing room to go with the young talent. But any older heads should already have premier league experience so less settling in is needed.

7.) 14 May 2019 13:45:25
Id personally love to see us buy wan bisakka and ndidi if we get that sort if money for pog.

8.) 14 May 2019 16:34:21
Would love Loftus Cheek and Declan Rice. They’d sort out central midfield out.

9.) 14 May 2019 17:27:19
Apparently Real won’t pay Pogba the wages he wants.

09 May 2019 18:00:34
Hello Ed002. I am not intend to ask or shoot on a random name. but with your detail insights it suggest that most or Jose targets are still target. so the player I would like to ask about is Justin Kluivert. Are United still tracking him? What's players status? He was very highly regarded as Ajax player but not settled at Roma. if you have time, please some information?

One of the Red Devil

{Ed002's Note - Actually it is a very good question that I have been sat on for a few weeks. Justin Kluivert (LW/RW) would be a OGS pick and after a poor season in Rome offers will certainly be listened to. He has been another Monchi disaster that has not worked out (and he is not the only one) and I have to say he could be used as a bargaining chip to perhaps eae the extraction of a player from Manchester United. OGS is seen as very much a soft touch and he could potentially be a player those that deal with transfers could use to keep him happy. I hope this helps.}

1.) 09 May 2019 18:59:49
Are you able to say who the utd player is ed? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It surrounds Pogba.}

2.) 09 May 2019 19:00:46
Amazing share. I never knew my question would bring cat out of hat.
So far his name is not mentioned anywhere and I guess if he was target than, he might be under monitor. and who knows while in EL, he can come in and settle.

3.) 09 May 2019 19:03:07
If you don't mind my asking, in implying a player to extract do you mean a player roma is interested in or somebody who Ole is desperate to keep but the hierarchy want out?

{Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with Roma wanting a player.}

4.) 09 May 2019 19:04:17
Roma interested in Manchester player? Anyone other than Darmian?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

5.) 09 May 2019 19:17:14
Thanks ed much appreciated.

6.) 09 May 2019 19:17:41
Is he represented by Raiola? I thought Ed will say Darmian. but Pogba?

{Ed002's Note - Sure.}

7.) 09 May 2019 19:22:13
OMG. he is also Mini Raiola player. I think by asking this I have hit a jackpot Ed002. You are a star. no a galaxy.

8.) 09 May 2019 19:30:53
Both Kluivert and Pogba share an agent, so moving Kluivert to United might "grease the wheels" so to speak with Pogba leaving.

I liked the look of Kluivert when at Ajax. I think he might be a similar case as Depay in moving too soon.

9.) 09 May 2019 20:09:38
Who sees OGS as a soft touch and is there any truth in it, if so was that why he was appointed?

{Ed002's Note - Everyone.}

10.) 09 May 2019 20:27:45
So how long do you think he will last?

{Ed002's Note - No idea.}

11.) 09 May 2019 21:21:07
A left or right side player I ask?

{Ed002's Note - ?}

12.) 09 May 2019 21:24:12
I’ve never really seen him player so was wondering what Kluivert’s best position is.

13.) 09 May 2019 22:09:09
He hangs to the left.

14.) 10 May 2019 10:19:26
People can take ole at face value as the nice young baby faced player he was

But he was under a manager who took no nonsense. I would be very surprised if ole hasn't learnt how to be harsh when needed.

Plus I've heard from within someone of the club he has ripped into the players a fair few times since he's been manager.

Anyone watched klivert to give a view on how he is as a player?

When pogba hopefully gets sold I hope we use some of the money to try and sign neves and saul. would be 2 good signings imo.

15.) 10 May 2019 18:40:23
Thanks Ed002 for all your insights and information a always - we are very lucky to have you.

Glad to hear there seems to be a will to move on Pogba. In my opinion, he is a negative influence at the club as it seeks to rebuild. I really hope they find a way of moving Sanchez on too.

Interesting to hear about OGS being viewed as a soft touch. I guess this attitude could have positives (ie handling sensitive players) but also negatives, such as more business-savvy people taking advantage. You would hope, however, that others at the club would intervene and not let this happen.

Thus, my question Ed002, if I may please, is that is it just people in the football business (ie non players) who see OGS as a pushover, or is it the players as well? And, to take it a step further, is this possibly a reason why he was appointed, as he wouldn’t argue with the board or contest decisions in the media like JM? Essentially a “yes” man with no real bite? (Please forgive the crass assumptions and my ignorance of how the game works! )

Hope this isn’t the case as we need a strong personality with a forward thinking vision (shared by his team) if we are to unravel the mess we are in and plot the foundations for a new era.

16.) 10 May 2019 22:51:11
Ed002. the red devil reply was completely out of character, was it your P. A? Ha .

17.) 11 May 2019 08:37:56
If you don't mind me asking Ed, how would Raiola's ban affect this, if it affects anything?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you are referring to - I don't know what "this" is. His ban has no impact on Pogba moving to Juventus if that is what you are referring to.}

18.) 11 May 2019 11:47:21
Thanks Ed, I was referring to the Pogba/ Kluivert element mentioned above, with both players being Raiola clients. How exactly would the ban work if you don't mind me asking? Reports across various news outlets claim it would prevent transfers of his players, but it would be harsh for the players to be penalised for whatever he is being penalised for.

{Ed002's Note - Mino's ban is for three months. Pogba can still move to wherever, and Kluivert will be able to move during the transfer window.}

19.) 11 May 2019 13:14:05
Sepp, one doesn't 'hang', one 'dresses'

28 Mar 2019 11:25:44
Hello All, after a long break from writing. but I was reading you all with great interest. Now it looks like Max Allergi will move on from Juventus, my feeling is that we might go all the way for him as initially he was planned at some point to take over from LVG, should he be allowed to finish his term. So I strongly feel this is a point where we might see him at helm. Ole has done a decent job since December. but I guess club might want to stick to their original plan? Whatever happen, I wish we see our club back on top where we belong.

After superb first half. We are seeing what we don't want to see. Matic is piss poor. Looks like he can't move at all. Mata again at right hand side. Lingard at No10 not producing much creative. Bailey injured again. This half clearly shows that we have not make any progress from last season.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 25 Jul 2019 14:21:03
What did the first half show.

2.) 25 Jul 2019 14:27:04
Get a grip.

3.) 25 Jul 2019 14:33:41
Succinct and perfectly formed. No, not me. Jred's reply. Perfect response to a rather silly OP.

4.) 25 Jul 2019 14:36:34
You left out the mazey run from Gomes for the winning goal. Don’t just concentrate on the negatives.
I enjoyed the game. Some assured performances from the younger players again.

5.) 25 Jul 2019 14:45:39
I’ve seen double decker buses turn quicker than Matic. His legs have gone completely. We need 2 quality midfielders a right winger and a centre half. This talk of £70 million for Erikson is nonsense why not £90 million for Son.

6.) 25 Jul 2019 16:29:22
It’s still early but dare I say you win DQOTD.

7.) 25 Jul 2019 17:24:40
DQOTD 😂😂. Brilliant tony.

15 Jul 2019 17:32:32
So typical and crazy of a window. Last week it's Bruno arriving by a charter plane. And now it's Maguire signing and arriving for medical.
T w i t e r is crazy place to be during summer.

18 Jun 2019 17:23:07
New Deal for Mata i am hearing. I am sure there are lots of split opinion for this. What you guys think?

One of the Red Devil

1.) 18 Jun 2019 17:37:19
We won't be able to replace everyone at one go, some needs to stay like Mata.

2.) 18 Jun 2019 17:42:08
Model professional, and a genuinely good guy. Always tries to put in a good performance. Think that he could do a job centrally if we had a stronger back four.

Most important things he brings are experience and the right attitude. In a relatively young squad whose attitude is often suspect, keeping players like Mata is crucial for saving the dressing room.

3.) 18 Jun 2019 17:43:26
Agreed. You can’t strip the whole squad and Mata is a class act with lots of Europa League games to come so an awesome squad never. Played in the right formation he’s great.

4.) 18 Jun 2019 17:44:29
Bad, really bad. But still better than Smalling, Jones signing new contracts or Sanchez's situation. wow we are really digging our own downfall here, Director of Footy needed badly, someone with a clear understanding and vision for the club. Oh well another season trophyless. A joke that's what we are now.

5.) 18 Jun 2019 17:57:45
Its good that he is signing a new contract. He is one of the good guys in the club.

6.) 18 Jun 2019 18:21:03
I just don't see the value in him as a squad member and there are positives in him staying. That said, i'm hoping we don't have to start him on the right wing very often as he is not hugely effective out there. His pace is gone but the guile and knowhow is there if played to his strengths.

7.) 18 Jun 2019 18:45:45
Yep can't wait for his blogs next season, maybe he can play some football in between, that would be nice as well.

8.) 18 Jun 2019 19:01:42
Not sure what Mata brings to be honest. Yeah he comes across like a nice guy, but how is that helping on the football pitch? Hardly influencing the younger players from what I can see, pretty ineffectual whenever he plays because he is too slow and afraid to take risks now.

My mum always smiles when making my beans on toast, doesn't mean she should be a Michelin Star Chef!

Even when he has played centrally he has been anonymous most games. He had his window at Chelsea, like Sanchez had his window at Arsenal, Schneiderlin at Saints, Fellaini at Everton - it's a long time since Mata pulled up any trees. Rather a kid take the spot and we put the huge wages to better use.

9.) 18 Jun 2019 19:24:45
We need a bit of experi3nce in the team. Look what happened when we got rid of Rio, Vidic and co and that is when we started struggling.

We need someone that's been in the club for last few years for the young ones to adapt and Mata isn't a bad influence either.

I also don't think he will be on crazy amount of wages so it makes sense to keep him while the young guns adapt to the club.

We do need some quality this summer and James isn't enough at the moment.

10.) 18 Jun 2019 19:29:30
Mata is one of if the only one that has that bit of quality in the final 3rd

He may not be a spring chicken anymore but played in his correct position he is still better than what we have.

11.) 18 Jun 2019 19:42:06
Lack of ambition.

£150k a week wasted on a player who doesn’t fit in the side.

12.) 18 Jun 2019 19:48:32
I think its a Mata of opinion.

On a serious note, loads of our more experienced players are likely or at least pushing to leave this summer. Pogba, DDG, Herrera, Sanchez, Lukaku, Darmian, Rojo and Valencia.

If Mata leaves that would leave only Grant, Romero, Young and Matic over 30.

And the over 25 category would be Smalling, Jones, Fred and Lingard.

Not much experience left in the squad, no one for the younger players to look to for guidance. Add to that the current rumour is that the club is looking toward signing players with potential more than experience then it becomes even more important we try and keep some.

Of the more experienced players you will struggle to find someone who is a better professional than Mata. It makes sense to keep him around for another year or two if we can.

And although he doesn't "rip up trees" as some of you have put it, he hardly ever let's the side down. He works hard and actually has a good record both scoring and assisting goals.

I can see plenty of up side in keeping him, the only downside is we don't get a shiny new signing to replace him this summer. Oh well, I guess we will have to content ourselves with the shiny new signings brought in to replace the likes of Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez.

13.) 18 Jun 2019 20:24:18
I think he’s Juanderful.

14.) 18 Jun 2019 20:40:18
Would love to see him be at no.10 with 2 genuine fast wide men.

United have never utilized his genius correctly, instead admonishing him to the wing were his lack of pace is incredibly apparent. The last 3 years he has suffered because of pogba being played in and around that area.

Put pace around him and mata would be deadly IMO. Although he hasn't got those legs, his brain is much sharper than anyone else within that position.

I say sign him up and give him a proper run at no.10.

{Ed025's Note - i would sooner have boris johnson at No 10 angel....and thats saying something.. :)

15.) 18 Jun 2019 20:41:55
Playing him in the right position, which is central, would be a good start.

I don't see why we can't use him in midfield like City use Silva. Get him on the ball and play to his strengths.

{Ed025's Note - hes more bronze than silva im afraid MM..

16.) 18 Jun 2019 20:58:59
Ed025 on fire♨️♨️♨️.

{Ed025's Note - i actually like mata ken, good honest pro which is more than be said for a lot of them mate..

17.) 18 Jun 2019 23:28:09
A shambles, a nice guy I'm sure, lost pace, not good enough on the football side, give contracts to smalling, Jones, young, mata.
Leave herrera and probably ddg go,
Didn't ole say he wanted his new signings by July 1st,
Give young a new contract, he was finished 2 years ago, smalling, Jones none of them good enough, now mata,
Is ole a yes man, I know it's early but it's a shambles so far.
The last 6 years aren't going to change anytime soon.

18.) 19 Jun 2019 19:01:21
Haha love it ed. Well played!

I just think the fella has never got a fair craic. And we could do worse than put him there!

31 May 2019 11:20:29
Hello Ed002. Have you managed to get some time for Sharkopod yet.

One of the Red Devil

{Ed002's Note - Not at the moment.}

20 May 2019 08:47:53
Ed and also fellow posters, what do you think the future hold for Timothy Fosu Mensah? How will you rate him as a player and his latest loan deal with Fulham, they got relegated. he is more than quick and hold some simple passes. any future under Ole?

One of the Red Devil

{Ed004's Note - Unfortunately I dont see him having a future here. He has never kicked on from his debut season}

1.) 20 May 2019 22:39:11
The future for TFM will be at another club, he has had two loan spells which have been awful (key point to remember with the likes of garner and greenwood when people say send them on loan to gain experience) .

Things could have worked differently for him had LVG stayed on, these two effectively wasted years have surely set his development back and there have been attitude issues on his part so he is not totally blameless.

But no reason he can't take a step down and still have a successful career in europe.

2.) 21 May 2019 04:58:26
I think it will be best if TFM went back to Holland to play for someone like Feyenoord to get his career back on track.

3.) 21 May 2019 08:57:51
Might be unlikely but I could see TFM having some opportunities next year.

His best positions are defensive midfielder or center back which are the team's weaker areas.

Playing Right Back at Palace and Fulham isn't a fair measure. Fulham was a massive mistake and he shouldn't have been sent there.

4.) 21 May 2019 12:41:25
Yeah Fulham was a bad choice. We shouldn't be loaning players to relegation favourites. We need to be better matching players to clubs and ensuring that players are going there to play in their best position not making up numbers in a position the loan club is weak in. The last successful loan was probably Lingard.

5.) 21 May 2019 13:23:27
He looked great under LVG. Never kicked on - but then again, never been given the chance - guess he’ll be off.

6.) 21 May 2019 17:30:36
I don't think he will get the game time he needs to kick on with us.

We have Lindelof, Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Rojo, Tuanzebe all ahead of him at CB. Plus we may well sign another CB this summer.

We have Young, Dalot and likely a new signing ahead of him at RB.

We have Matic, McTominay, Fred and possibly Garner ahead of him at CDM. Plus a possible new signing.

Going on loan to teams that haven't played him consistently and more often than not in his weakest position have held up his development.

I'm hoping a director of football would be able to sort out better loan deals for our young players at clubs where they will play and in their best position to aid their development. Although that doesn't sound like that is going to be part of the remit of whoever we hire.

7.) 21 May 2019 19:14:27
All I would add is TFM looked a lot further along with a lot higher ceiling than McTom in his break through season.

I would say he is as good as Fred, Rojo, Jones, McTom and Young.

I think he'd be ahead of Garner based on physical basis too.

8.) 21 May 2019 23:11:36
@Utd Road

Mate get your head out of the fire. Better than Fred? He's been one of maybe only 3 players to have played decent the last 10 games of the season. TFM couldn't get a look in at Fulham.

9.) 21 May 2019 23:56:22
Fred has been awful. He played ok in Europe.

And as you say his best games coincided with our worst form in years.

Says it all.

Ed please share in sight. why we are always second or third choice when it comes from buying young talents from Brazil and Argentina? If we target them, it's via other European league.

If I believe this. I would say the 2 would be Baily and Rojo.
Although I would want it to be Jones and Rojo.

Shappy. I have always said this. when he was playing CF in first season. he was immense and happy. With our lack of quality on wings, he been moved to left and started suffering because he doesn't feel happy there. I am still by my words to make him CF. Not Rashford. Like Rooney in later years, he is also suffering from his multi positions ability. he should have been rigid and asked to get back to No9 role or leave where he can satisfy himself.
