Looks like we're keeping De Gea in the stands for the season.

As much as i'd love us to sign Vidal I just really don't see it happening.

According to the guy at Sky Italia we haven't even made contact for him.

JK92

01 Jul 2014 15:58:31
Ed, do you have any updates about Vidal?
thanks.

JK92

{Ed002's Note - Vidal moved to Juventus after spurning good offers from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. If he were to come up for sale, I understand Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid would be interested. Barcelona has dropped their interest now. Real Madrid would propose a player exchange deal but that may not suit Juventus who want to keep the player and are willing to sacrifice Pogba to do so.}

Ed is it true that Gundogans career could be over due to this injury?

JK92

{Ed002's Note - They are targeting the start of next season and they will not be risking the player at all before then.}

Rumours of us going in for Coleman. now if we do manage to land him does anyone think Rafael would be good at leftback?

JK92

1.) Another make believe story from a newspaper . should be quite a bidding war if Arsenal & Manchester City are looking too .£15 million Moyes having a laugh again

2.) Right footers playing at left back just dosent work in my opinion, philip lamb did it well for bayern in the past but I prefer a more balanced team, ideally u want your full back in the modern game bombing on overlapping your wide men and getting to the by line not cutting inside all the time.

3.) Seem to recall Denis Irwin being a right footed left back? Could be wrong

4.) Quite right geomax . and a good one

5.) Lamb and Irwin are equally as good with their left foots though Rafael and Coleman aren't

Even though we lost i don't feel as pissed off as i normally do after a defeat, which is odd considering this loss was to out cross City neighbors.

I think the first half team selection is what made us lose.
Not sure why Jesse started after being injured and not playing for 3 games.
It's similar with Mkhitaryan, not fully fit but played the first half.

I think we should have played Martial and Rashford in place of those two and brought on Mata in the second half to tidy the play up a bit.

I thought we looked very narrow and slow with the team we had in the first half. everyone was doing the same thing.

Got to give credit to City, too. They played very well going forward and DeBruyne was the best player on the field.

Hopefully we can learn from this and comeback stronger next game.

JK92

1.) 11 Sep 2016 17:00:15
I'm totally the opposite. I think the defeat showed the gulf in class between our midfield and City's. I think they look like a team which knows how to play. We have some superb individuals but not a team.
I particularly didn't like the long ball tactics later on in the 2nd half.
As I said previously, we seriously lack a world class playmaker.
I also think playing two in midfield when City had three and in some instances five was an absolute calamity. Mourinho is excellent tactically normally and I'm sure he'll learn from this.
I feel deflated and disappointed as I think we're nowhere near being champions material.

2.) 11 Sep 2016 19:28:03
Schmidfield, not sure where i said City weren't better?

27 Aug 2016 20:14:02
Said a few weeks back Martial looked lazy, and he did again today.

A few times when he could have been getting in behind their defense he came towards the ball and looked to get it played into his feet.

Think the off field issues with his ex wife might be affecting him, that or he just needs some time to get back into the swing of things.

I would like to see him coming off the bench to affect games when other teams are tired.

Thought Rashford and Mkhitaryan looked great when they came on.

JK92

1.) 27 Aug 2016 20:39:11
Maybe it's time for Depay to up his game. I think he can make it.

2.) 27 Aug 2016 21:46:28
Martial was last back for pre season, he'll be back marauding very soon.

3.) 28 Aug 2016 09:29:47
He's a top young talent who I can't wait to see hitting form again. But there's no denying his form is not great and we have plenty of good options raring to go. i'd like to see Rash or Mikhi in his place next time out, we should use rotation to get the best out of all the players.

23 Aug 2016 01:52:51
Don't like to talk about these types of transfers because the current window isn't even closed yet, but does anyone else think we will move for Griezzman next summer?

The guy is always talking about us, his brother is always teasing us.

In my opinion i think we will make a move for him next summer.

JK92

1.) 23 Aug 2016 06:53:17
Let's enjoy our signings this season first and worry about next summer precisely then.

2.) 23 Aug 2016 07:44:20
Isn't a $100 million Pogba enough for some folk.

Jesus.

3.) 23 Aug 2016 08:46:37
Oh just wait till the new fifa comes out and everyone starts playing it on manager mode.

4.) 23 Aug 2016 09:13:10
Ah come on lads, I think its a fair question. Its not like he is saying we should sign him now. Rooney and Zlatan will be a year nearer to retiring and a lot on here said they wanted Griezmann to have been signed instead of IBRA.

Will it happen? Impossible to say

Would he be a good signing? Well, he's a fantastic player but his best performances have come whilst playing behind the main striker. I would have loved to have seen him behind IBRA but would it work as well behind Rashford or would they be too similar and lack physicality and an aerial threat?

5.) 23 Aug 2016 09:48:19
Some people clearly have a hard time reading.

6.) 23 Aug 2016 10:12:08
JK92 do you think Mourinho will consider signing Greizmann because his brother has been talking up United or do you think just maybe, just maybe Mourinho will stick to his own targets?

7.) 23 Aug 2016 10:12:43
I think we'll move for him next summer as Rooney replacement.

8.) 23 Aug 2016 10:29:45
Maze, i doubt he'd turn down that sort of talent if he wanted to join.

I never said we should sign him, or that i'd like us to, only stated that if think we will go after him.

9.) 23 Aug 2016 10:32:34
Top post Jk92 and it will certainly be a fantastic signing next year.

10.) 23 Aug 2016 10:39:30
The op makes an interesting point. If this season pans out to be a successful one i think hopefully we will see the end of these windows where there has been so much upheaval.

Instead of having to buy 4,5,6 and even 7 players which we can all agree isn't ideal we may just be able to buy one superstar player and i am sure the likes of griezmann will fit that category.

11.) 23 Aug 2016 11:11:40
Yes jk I believe top player will want to join Utd again mostly down to Jose and what he's building. Players seem happy from what I have seen in interviews, even players that haven't had much game time, praising players that are.
Looking from the outside in there seems to be a really good vibe in and around the club.

12.) 23 Aug 2016 11:29:41
The problem is next window AM have a transfer ban in place, so wouldn't that stop Griezmann leaving for atleast 2 seasons? Btw JK92, fair and interesting Q. Ed002 has said numerous of times Griezmann is of interest to Chelski and there a team that interests him too.

No doubt he would improve any team and I think him and Rashford will suit eatch other to a tee. Rashfords only growing the way I see it so in time he might have abit more of a height and vantage. Also both are pretty similar, but I've not seen many that can run through and past Prem players like Rashford does.

Rice, how do you know who Mourinhos targets are, how do you know if Griezmann isn't part of Mourinhos future/ long term plans? I'm petty sure Jose had eyes on Pogba and also Griezmann while at Chelski.

13.) 23 Aug 2016 11:39:09
He will not sign next year. maybe in 2 years but if AM do get a transfer ban he will be going mo where next summer.

14.) 23 Aug 2016 11:57:59
Griezzmann would make that a extremely difficult to cope attack.
Can you imagine?
I would be happy if he is our only signing next summer. He's just a level below Ronaldo/ Messi.
If we add a centre back and Griezmann I think we can beat anyone in the world. Manolas and Griezmann added to this team and we are serious champions league contenders.

15.) 23 Aug 2016 12:03:11
To be fair this a long way off and somewhat pie in the sky stuff.

But I'm not sure why people are making out JK is unhappy with our current transfers or that he knows Jose's thoughts? Some people just like to argue I guess 😁.

16.) 23 Aug 2016 12:28:24
HB, that's why i said i don't like to usually talk about it because this current window hasn't even closed yet. Though it was interesting, though, that he seems to mention us every few weeks.

17.) 23 Aug 2016 13:34:14
I think that's the way would go. Just 1-2 signings a summer.

18.) 23 Aug 2016 15:42:40
what come the summer all our attacking players are playing really well.

19.) 23 Aug 2016 16:02:50
I agree with Jk. I think we have a strong French contingent. And the best French player in our side. This is bound to attract other French players to our club.
I think Greizman has gone on record as saying that Pogba is in the best team.
I'm sure if AM want to sell him then United will be in the mix. I think Rooney's days are numbered and Greizman will be a superb replacement.

20.) 23 Aug 2016 17:26:19
I agree schmid
We have to make plans not sit and wait. If we don't feel we need him next summer we can back off but we must be in the hunt roo and ibra won't be getting any younger.

21.) 23 Aug 2016 22:03:48
Griezmann is a man United supporter, (I think) so surely he would want to join United if the package we put together matches any other clubs.

22.) 24 Aug 2016 12:36:59
El Loco, it doesn't work like that. And stop calling me Shirley.

04 Aug 2016 10:12:56
Obviously it was a charity game, and we shouldn't take too much away from it, but god it was boring.

Martial looked lazy.

Rooney doesn't take on his man or make those eye of the needle passes into the striker. he just gets the ball and always looks to go wide to Valencia, who does his little fainting with his leg then cuts back inside and passes to Carrick. and repeat.

I think we look better and more fluid in attack when we have Rashford and Mata on the field.

JK92

1.) 04 Aug 2016 10:38:17
We are going to need another right back if Valencia's leg keeps fainting.
Sounds quite serious.

2.) 04 Aug 2016 10:57:13
Bit harsh on martial, he just doesn't have that match sharpness which is understandable considering he was one of the last to turn up for pre season.

The big problem as most have said is zlatan dropping deep meant we didn't have a focal point for large parts of the game. Rooney just went deeper into midfield as a result and that had a knock on effect of carrick and herrera dropping deeper and so on.

Also valencia playing right back is a result of lingard and micky being wingers who like to drift inside leaving huge gaps on the flank that can be easily filled by valencia as opposed to darmian.

3.) 04 Aug 2016 11:25:47
Betty
Hahahahhaha :D :D Just don't bring Eva Carneiro to help him.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 16:07:48
zlatan had 2 good chances in the first half both from rooneys passes i thought there where positive signs from the pair .
ibra dropped deep to often but as long as someone else moves to 9 that can be ok .
martial like in the euros looked a bit of the pace had a good chance again from a rooney thro ball.

i thought it was a decent first half before all the changes . it was quite positive imo.

5.) 04 Aug 2016 16:15:26
Valencia has played well in the Pre season . He has the speed to recover if he gets forward. I think we are OK in the full back position now that we have no injuries. Jose might see it differently through.

22 Jul 2016 18:18:46
Really not impressed with Jones, Rojo, Lingard or Romero.

They just aren't good enough for United.

Some will say "but Lingard is one of our own" or "he won us the FA Cup" . but the reality is, he isn't good enough and shouldn't be anywhere near the starting 11.

As for Romero, well, he might as well have no arms. he is useless in goal.

Jones hasn't improved at all, he's made of glass and is way too rash. His reading of the game is poor, too.

Rojo just isn't a CB. Last season he got found out too often.
His marking is extremely poor and despite him looking quite a physical player he gets knocked about too much from set pieces and costs us a lot of goals.

I really hope we go in the market for a CB. Pogba or another CM will not be enough.

And with Varela going out on loan, Darmian being quite inconsistent and Tim-FM being young/ inexperienced i feel we will need another right back too.

JK92

1.) 22 Jul 2016 18:55:05
I don't think lingard will be in the staring eleven.

2.) 22 Jul 2016 18:55:05

3.) 22 Jul 2016 22:34:42
Wow. One friendly game and the experts pour out.

4.) 22 Jul 2016 23:05:32
Are we seriously expecting Jones to have come out and played a stormer today? How many games has he played in the last 6 months? Jeez, give the guy a break. Actually, forget I said that!

5.) 22 Jul 2016 23:22:56
This isn't based on the friendly Sepp. they've been shocking for a few seasons.

6.) 22 Jul 2016 23:53:50
I don't think lingard will be in the starting eleven.

7.) 23 Jul 2016 00:17:41
Noucamp. Like i said above, this wasn't based on the friendly.

These players just aren't good enough.

Add The Wig into that list, too.

he said he doesn't want to move to the MLS ed, on the Jonathan Ross show.

JK92

{Ed002's Note - And did he ever say he would never leave Manchester United? You are naive if you are being guided by such matters. The club has a manager leaving in 18 months, if the club wish to move backwards rather than ahead and have vast sums of money to spend on a player in his 30s, fine.}

id rather keep De Gea and lose him on a free. he could be the difference between us winning the league. if that is worth 30m, then so be it.

For the City game he brought in Lingaard and Mkhitaryan who hadn't started a single premier league game previously.

I think if we had gone with Martial and Rashford on the wings instead we'd have done better in the first half.

Still, i think there is a lot of work to do with this team.

Mata doesn't look good out side, Martial has been a little lazy with his play and Pogba hasn't been too good either.
