Summary on Where Manchester United are Now

OK a quick summary where I think we are now lads,

For me the first 11 is now taking shape, i'm still not convinced with the 3 at the back but who am I to argue with LVG? Is it necessary? or was it a necessity?

I always remember the trick Harry Redknapp used to pull when transfers where not coming as quick as he liked, the old 3 goalkeepers on the bench trick used to highlight an apparent lack of squad depth and normally levy would then act lol, now i'm not claiming at all LVG has put our season in jeopardy to get what he wants but just a thought I had, (albeit a firmly tongue in cheek one for the conspirators out there) :)

So where are we now? Well for me in a much better position than 3 months ago, after Vidic, Rio and Paddy left, some (and many still are) were expecting a strong CB with a star name, Well we ended up with Rojo, Now admittedly I have not seen loads of the lad but I saw a bit of him b4 and during the WC, tbh he never really stood out when I watched him for sporting (for some that could be perceived as a good thing from a CB) then during the WC he done well for himself and I could see something good there with him.

But at the same time was not on here championing him to sign for us, but he's here and tbh i'm quite happy about that.
As Ed002 has mentioned this is not a quick fix and we will not buy for the sake of it, I can't stress how good this is, its a Calculated move and shows we have direction. So we can't sign Hummels now wot do we do? Go out and buy Savic now for a sizeable amount or do we put our faith in honest lads we have signed with potential, paid a good sum for their services. Maybe give them that little bit of trust that before they maybe didn't feel they had and they may shine.

In Jan or the summer the players we are really are interested in signing may be more attainable and open to a move away.

Shaw has fixed for me an area where many including me saw as a real weak link in the team, with no back up and Paddy getting on in age and unable to get up and down (or just down) coupled with our poor ability on the wings was an area where our opponents saw a weakness and targeted it, well now that is fixed.

Next we wanted a CM or two, with Herrera signed we have added a bit of bite and energy (and didn't need Suarez either to do it ;)) to our CM. Now sometimes I get the impression many pundits & even some fans dnt quite get Herrera, many see his flashy Latin name and think he's a silky No10 like Silva but he is totally different, for me he's more of a box to box CM, whereas going forward Silva is a 8/9 out of 10, Herrera is a 7, but going back Silva scrapes a 4 whereas again Herrera is a 7 & so much more of what we needed too, after a few seasons of not having that, with Carrick getting old and more inclined to sit back.

So again we have improved another area we have been lacking in. On top of that we have signed Daley Blind, This gives us so many more options, he has a real look of Hargreaves about him when played in CM from what I have seen, he can play wing back & CB too which again is an improvement. (Its worth noting i'm not suggesting Blind could get to Hargreaves level and all the attributes I have said could equally be labeled at a John O'Shea type of squad player too, solid & important but a squad player none the less).

Next we wanted more pace. That was clearly lacking in our forward play a lot last season and in ADM again we have improved an area we have been lacking in, add to that he can player on the wing too and its added quality in area's where it was lacking before. It has also sent out a clear message to our rivals and other potential signings, ''Man Utd are not about to go away anytime soon''.

ADM really is a great buy, ask any Madrid fan and they will tell you not many are happy about him leaving and would of loved to of kept him. But i'm very happy they didn't and we now have a signing many (even thou they won't say) of our rivals would of loved to have made.

Finally the 'coup', the 'gamble', the 'risk'. Whatever he's being called by the ABU's and rivals just remember It's bloody FALCAO lol, he looked like being back to his near best in the Emirates cup in pre season and scored a goal at the weekend and if he can keep fit we possibly have the best goalscorer in world football! So we have lost Hernandez and Welbeck and replaced them with Wilson and bloody Falcao! Improvement? I think so lol

The one thing I have missed out is prices (sorry Ed002 lol) Honestly who cares? So we paid an extra 10-12m for ADM, Shaw cost us more than he was worth, i'd much rather it go to new signings we need than in the pockets of Avi or Joel :) is it our money? Yes but at least we are now spending on a area we all care about and pay for, the team!

I love the way everyone is writing us off already especially our good friends from Liverpool, just think back to my comments above and think, only TWO of those improvements have played ONCE each this season for about 75mins lol, once everyone is fit we have a very good team on paper and then its up to LVG to earn his corn and get them playing as one and with something I feel has been really lacking as a leftover from the Moyes era and that's confidence.

Many are now questioning LVG and claiming Moyes would be hammered and this is true, but what's different is LVG has proved that with time and trust he can and normally is successful. Under Moyes all we had was a hope that would happen and clearly it was not looking likely. ( I was not calling for him to be sacked but again I was not upset when he left)

If any of you need further proof of us being far more improved this season u need look no further than some of the comments from Liverpool fans on our page recently, they know even if they are trying there hardest to deny it :).

The window is closed, we have our team and now let's get behind them and let them get out there and show the PL we are ready to fight our way back to the top! And shove a few opinions of others down there throats in the process too :)

Thanks for reading guys as always comments welcome :)
