Ed 001 permit me to back you into a corner a bit since you are usually on point with info about players abilities and what clubs need.
Who will be the ideal and possibly realistic candidate to solve utd's striker problem short term (now till season ends) until a permanent solution can be made once the glazer's possible sale settles and the summer window opens?

{Ed001's Note - there are not a lot of options to be honest, maybe Felix on loan, but it does seem like Depay is the one to tick the boxes as Barca want him out. Realistically there are so few options in a short term deal. This is the problem with shopping at the top end of the market, options are always limited as there are not that many players who are good enough to start with.}

I really appreciate you taking time to reply. Hopefully something good can be be done.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome. Tough question though, really difficult to find anyone worth United looking at.}

I know some will disagree, however I would be absolutely fine with Giroud or Mitrovic for a short term solution. I agree with Ed001, it is tough to find someone "good enough" in the January window AND while the club are in the midst of a takeover, therefore I believe the two above would be good solutions until the summer. Thoughts Ed001?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - Giroud I like a lot, but I can't see why he would want to make the move to United right now as a short-term option. He is on the crest of a wave and it seems to be accepting that you only have a few months left of your career if he did join.

As for Mitrovic, I don't believe there are any circumstances Fulham would let him go under.}

I think Vlahovic suits our style of play more than Mitro. But then again we can wish for the stars, reality check will set in.

It's a manky month for trying to get players in.
I'd rather nobody rather than the wrong body.
Options are limited even if funds are available which I doubt.
Whatever will be will be.

Giroud would be a really good signing, as his main strength is link up play. But as Ed001 says, it would be strange for him to sign for 5 months. Especially, as he doesn’t rely upon athleticism, pace, etc, and can comfortably play at the top level for a few more years.

Mitrovich, would cost a lot and doesn’t make sense in an ETH side. Much more of an old school number 9.

Would he press more than ronaldo?

Giroud would be great, very under rated player. Would happily have him up top for 18 months while we climb back to the top and identify the right player upfront.

Be stunned if that could happen though.

Agree with Ken, rather nobody than the wrong person. We have already seen how weeding out the wrong players has started to lift this squad. No need to add back in some new bad apples.
