well that's Alves off the list. pretty glad to be honest. All is quiet on the Clyne front but I think he would make a good full back for us. I don't know many of the other RB's linked with us besides Coleman but the eds say his price tag would be a major stumbling block. anyone with any fullback updates.

Well if media is to be believed why can we not include Evans in any deal for Coleman to bring down fee, Everton are supposed to be interested in him. I don't get he is too expensive line they guy is quality and proven in the premiership how many years service would he give us plus never injured. We paid out £60 million for Di Maria last year who has done nothing Blind another £15 million who at best is a squad player.

I just hope LVG gets Rafael in for some special sessions to learn whatever it is he hasn't learnt. He is a gem of a player and should be coming into his own now age wise.

I appreciate he has a poor injury record, but so do half our team, not too sure why a lot of people are so quick to write him off when he was one of the best RB's in the world 2 years ago. There are much more critical areas of the team that need strengthening imo.

Beast , he was never one of the best right backs in the world at any stage . He had a pretty good season a couple of seasons back but even then he was rash and always seemed to have a mistake or a red card in him . I always hoped he'd come good and be our first choice for years to come but he's obviously a bit headless on top of being injured half the time

I agree with Beast, although signing these highly regarded RB's is an exciting prospect, if we were to go the season again with Valencia at RB or if as Beast says, Rafael playing to the standard he was at 2 years ago then as long as we strengthen at CB and CM, I think we will be ok. The report about Valdes someone posted the other day and his communication with the back four along with a strong CB and a strong CM in front of the defence would make us significantly stronger defensively and would help Valencia/Rafael and either Smalling or Jones and Shaw greatly.

Beast, I agree about Rafael, there was a time when it looked as though he was going to be great but no matter how good a player is if they don't play more than 4 games a season they are a waste

I hope LVG doesn't plan to use Jones in the RB position next season. From a defensive standpoint, Jones can do the job; but the way we play now, means we need fast full-backs who can operate like wingers when on the attack. Jones just don't have enough quality to be a good attacking full-back, IMO.

Shhh ish1982, Alves was perfect for us you will annoy some posters. not old, loads of epl experience, quality defensive attributes, would have slotted straight into the Manchester culture and would have loved the weather! 😉
