Just read that United are prepared to sell Elanga for £10m - wtf?

Don't get me wrong - he is most definitely not good enough, but £10m? That's taking the proverbial.

If United have this mooted initial budget of £100m before player sales, the moronic decision to sell a 21yo pacy winger with plenty of room and time to get better for half his value is not inspiring confidence.

I don't care if loans didn't come to fruition in January.
Elanga, at his actual value, is one of the easiest to shift from this squad full of overpaid bluffers.

I've been really looking forward to this transfer window, not only to see who arrives, but also to see who leaves - this does not fill me with confidence, this is Lloyd Christmas-level stupid.

Personally I would take £10m for Elanga if we can get a sell on clause added just in case he improves and moves for more later down the line. There are too many ahead of him at United so it is pointless keeping him when he is not playing, he needs to play and develop. It would be best for both him and the club.

He's an academy player who ultimately isn't good enough. Most academy players leave for practically nothing or even free.

How much would you pay for a Barcelona academy player who isn't good enough to play for Barcelona?

We got 15m for Garner who had more experience plus the added "English tax".

We'll get between 25-30m for each of Henderson and McTominay, players with significant top flight experience and clearly better players than Elanga.

On the other hand we would be lucky to get 10m for Martial, a player we spent a fortune to sign. Same for Bailly and Telles, players who'll probably sell for less than the 10m or so will get for Elanga.

I think we will get 15-18 mill for elanga.

Martial, Bally, Maguire will be difficult to move on imo. Martial and Maguire will stay put as both will have to take a major haircut on wages.

Very few players take massive pay cuts to get more playing time especially given maguire age and in martials case not even sure he will have a long playing career given his constant injuries and at some point your head says just give it up assuming he is constantly dealing with pain and rehab.

Guys like fred, mc are not difficult to move on and plenty of teams would be interested if we have decided to move them on.

I’d be amazed if Maguire and Martial are with us at the start of next season. They’ll either be sold or loaned I’d have thought.

Regarding Elanga…. I’d be inclined to take a bit more for him based on his age and possible improvement. Can’t see more than 20 million though and I’d be inclined to take 15 if it were me.

Shappy

If Garner was worth £15m, then that should be the bare minimum target for Elanga.

Let's talk about experience and it's value. Garner's made 111 senior apps, of which 87 were in the Championship - senior, but not remotely top level.
Elanga has made 55 club apps - all for Man Utd at top level. He's also a full international with 10 caps.
Garner's made 17 apps this season compared to the 26 made by Elanga - more minutes for Garner, but with less statistical output.

I would absolutely say that Elanga has a higher ceiling than Garner and, therefore, should absolutely not go for a penny less than £15m.

I thought Garner was going to be the knees, I honestly did - silly me.
He, a special-ist DM, could not push himself ahead of Matic, McTominay or Fred to be the main man - only Matic was an actual DM. Elanga has had to compete against the likes of Rashford, Garnacho and Sancho and still managed to get 692 minutes for United, while Garner, competing against only one player, has managed 850 minutes.
As for the 'English Tax' - nah mate, we're not talking about established players. It could be argued that Everton overpaid, but I'd say not.

Elanga is easily worth £5m+ more than Garner, United are mugging themselves off.

Most academy players leave well before they turn 21, having made very few, if any, senior apps.
Barcelona, in United's situation, would not mug themselves off over a 21yo player from their academy who, with time and adequate tutelage, could become a £30-40m winger.

The whole 'he's academy and cost us nothing, so we don't need to be pushing' blither is just ridiculous - he's an asset and, like an asset for any other type of business, he has a value that should be appreciated - not just in faith, but also in tangible return.

£10m for a player of Elanga's worth and potential is just taking the piddle.

Elanga 10m with a sell on clause would be great. Done nothing to warrant that fee or any more as far as I've seen. He is highly rated but eth does not seem to want him. Pellistri can join him looks like a good wind would blow him over. Hardly got a game on loan over past 2 seasons either. Amad might get a chance. Iqbal and savage will get loaned i'd imagine mainoo might be kept at OT depending on who leaves.

I think £10m is about right. He’s very poor at this level.

Pallistri has impacted every time he has played, actually very strange he hasn't played more imo. He might not be good enough but he has definitely deserved more minutes. Amad will be given plenty of football next season hopefully.

Where do folk sit on Pellistri? I think he’s worth persisting with to be honest. Any lightweight player can be improved with a decent conditioning program so I think if he strengthens up he’d look a different kid.

Elanga reminds me of Dan James.
He just has pace, other than that he doesn't really offer anything.
Garnacho is twice the talent and even Pellistri is better.

It's better for both parties to part ways.
Elanga needs game time to progress his career.

I think by all accounts Garner is having an increasing impact on Everton, Dyche was raving about him after the weekend. Probably one to watch next season and can't really be compared with Elanga, IMO who is being used less and less. He needs to be sold while he has some value and £10-£15m seems about right for a player who's regressed this year.

We should be generally better than we are at getting sale prices but some of that is based on the salaries we give players that make it harder to shift on.
When we did our list of players to leave and price we had Elanga for £10m so anything around there I think is right. We need to shift quite a lot so need to get sales done early.

Woggle, different positions. Much harder for a central midfielder to break into the team from the academy than a wide player.

I think in five years time Garner will be considered a better player than Elanga.

Garners minutes in the Championship came as a starter and a key player, Elanga has made very few starts and all of them have either come against lesser opposition or during an injury crisis.

Elanga is quick and runs at people, but he doesn't have much else. He'll be a lower to mid-table player. Garner with time I think develop into a really good Europa League level player, maybe higher.

I think with a major summer conditioning Pellistri has a chance. he needs get physically a bit stronger imo.

My brother-in-law's an Evertonian, and says Garner has improved every game. I watched him play out of position on Sunday, and thought he did very well. Still think there's a good player in there.

16.) 02 Jun 2023

And I wouldn't have Elanga about the place. Showed a little talent at the start, but has done nothing since to convince me he'd even be a decent squad player. I'd bite your hand off for 10-15 million.

17.) 03 Jun 2023
03 Jun 2023 06:20:22
10 Million is actually a lot of money to some clubs mate. I think the 20 million your asking for gets you a decent player away from these shores. Elanga is not that good or he wouldn't be on the get rid of list.

£10m is a good message to youngsters who come.
You’ll get a chance and we won’t hold you to ransom or loan for profit, we’ll let you get a move on your terms with the most possible options.

It’s good business.
