Right player, wrong price. Too much in my opinion. To put it into perspective it's 40m more than City paid for Haaland, and 20m more than Liverpool paid initially for Nunez.

He has huge potential, but he doesn't look ready to make 20-25 goal contributions across a season. Which is what you'd expect from a 100m forward player.

Fans will need to back him and not get on his back and complain if he doesn't have a great season this year.

The fee is reported to be €100m INCLUSIVE of add ons so it’s very unlikely United will be handing over the full amount in one go, if ever. Hopefully Antony smashes it and justifies the fee.

NC, I did say it is too much in my opinion.

He may one day be worth the money we are paying, but that isn't now. Is he worth that money right now?

My house will one day be worth 500k, but it's not worth that right now so why would anyone pay that right now.

The difference is the house prices inflating is an almost certainty if given enough time. Whereas a footballer reaching their potential is a far bigger risk.

He might be the next Ronaldinho or he might be the next Kerlon.

EtH wants him and the club should do what they can to get him. But in my opinion we are massively overpaying.

Chris, oddly I have watch Ajax twice in Amsterdam in the past 12 months as until recently my brother in law lived there and we'd often visit him.

I have a soft spot of Ajax and have probably watched 7 or 8 of their games on TV over the past year or so as well.

People need to stop saying it’s a 100m deal.

It’s a 100m EUROS deal, made up of around 75m EUROS initially, with the rest in add-ons, some of which will be very achievable (appearances etc) and others more difficult (United winning the CL etc) .

We are actually paying a similar up front fee to what Chelsea are about to spend on Gordon, who has about as much footballing talent in his whole body as Antony has in his left nostril. Antony one side, Sancho the other, with a new centre forward brought in in the Summer of 2023 will strike fear into opponents at home and in Europe.

Why do we care about the money? It’s never ours, it means nothing to us. If he’s good, I’m delighted we are getting him. Can’t say I know a lot about him, but if ETH thinks he’s the man then brilliant.

As for Shappy’s post on will he be a 20-25 goal man who knows, but we won’t win the league this season or next anyway so what does that matter?

Gakpo still thinks he is moving to Manchester as well as Antony. If that one comes off then this will be a big window for United, five replacements out of the ten needed in one window, GK, RB, MD and SK next year and we are good to go.

I'm sure most people in England realise we are paying in € there is a significant currency exchange rate in the favour of sterling.
100m euro including add ons.
Is approx £84m stg.
I have no insight as to the terms or structure of payments but all very manageable.

I said with wages and fees to agents it's over 100 million.

I find the sums often quoted misleading cause you can say a player cost a relatively small amount but add onthese and the true figure is substantially higher. Haaland is reported at 65 but with the fees and wages it is way more than that.

I don't care about the money and have little doubt we generate enough income to afford it, my point was mire on that if you consider transfer only you aren't getting the true cost and that what looks good or bad value can change.

Our attack was flat on the weekend, Rashford can't lead the line, Martial is always injured, Ronaldo is still not match fit and seems to be a squad player for EtH, Sancho has moments and Elanga runs alot.

If Antony comes in a livens up the attack, gives it some dynamism, then he will be worth every penny.
