Apparently United have rejected West Ham's approach over the weekend for Maguire. Report says United have no intention of selling him and want to keep him.

If that's true then god help us all.

TBF, although I don’t like him and he a cart horse, he does always give 100% so for the 20 odd million they will recoup, decent 4th/ 5th choice, so personally unless you can clear 3o million little point in selling him. Especially if taking a gamble on signing an unproven no experience CB, for 40 million plus let’s be fair Evans good days are long long gone. Money better spent adding some goals to the team.

It'll be loan deal rebuffed.

I see this as making sense.

The reason for United's problems regarding making signings ATM is the FFP conundrum.
A loan for Maguire will not be helpful at this stage because, with the injury and fitness concerns of Shaw, Varane and Martinez, we will be another CB short with no real prospect of addressing the issue.

So we'd be one CB short when 3 of our 4 best CBs may well have gremlins this season, we'd raise no funds for his replacement, and we'd still be paying a premium to shift him - a loan would be a ridiculous idea.

That said, in light of Maguire's irritating but perfectly understandable stance, we cannot sell him either. West Ham will not pay him more than £120k per week and Maguire wants his current £200k per week wage to be honoured by United - over £8m.

He's holding all the chips unfortunately and United are just stuck in the cesspit they waded into.

Spot on Ork.

I predicted it would come down to this and that we would haggle over a few million. We will come to regret this for footballing reasons, but it is the Glazer way sadly.

Loan deal only makes sense for WHU and Maguire. It would only make sense for us if we were well stocked at CB or had funds for his replacement.

We don't.

HM

Very happy to warm the subs seats and pocket 200k a week. The truth is that, His dad is GS and will never drop him unless England replace him as Manager.

Im quite sure! That if he was told "you don't play every week in the EPL then we can't gige you a number for the upcoming matches and tournament", Harry would still pocket the wages and be happy.

Whats your opinions on this Guys? If Harry Maguire warms the bench and looses his England shirt, Whilst England march on and win the cup

Would Harry get roasted and be salty.

Unburdened,

I’ve no idea what get roasted and be salty means but I couldn’t really care less what Maguire does. I think Colwill will replace him for England either way.

I don't know if you've noticed but we are having a little bit of an injury crisis in defence.

Our current fit defensive options are AWB, Dalot, Alvaro Fernandez, Lindelof, and Martinez. Varane maybe be fit, but given his fitness issues, and that he came off at halftime against Forest, can he be relied upon?

While Maguire isn't good enough, we do need bodies to play. He'll be 4th choice at best behind Martinez, Varane and Lindelof, he could end up 6th choice behind Shaw and Evans.

The only reason to sell him is to raise funds to buy a better replacement. But at best we'll get 20m after paying him off his contract. Are we really going to get a great CB player for 20m? Probably not. So it might be of those situations where it doesn't actually make sense to sell him right now.

Let him rot see how his career goes after not playing

Ego to match the size of his head.
