I'd just like to make a point about football these days in general, about us indirectly but mostly about Spurs.

I cannot believe that Pochettino has left Alli, Lamela, Dier and Kane out of this first leg. Dortmund is an hour away, it is no more exhausting to get to Dortmund than it is to Sunderland from London. Their team is also incredibly youthful so should have bags of energy and most importantly they could play blindfolded on the weekend and still beat Villa.

If I was a Spurs fan I would be fuming at what I would say is the raising of the white flag in this leg.

Going for the league, Europa was a back up and probably objective at the start of the season. I bet they never anticipated a shot at the title this season and CL football is almost guaranteed. So why bother with the Mickey Mouse cup like we have to?

They have played a lot of games this season so it kind of makes sense to me, but still it is a bit feeble.

At the end of the day a trophy is a trophy, even if it is a 'Mickey Mouse' cup as you call it Beast. Would rather win the Europa League than go out by playing a weakened team and then not win the Prem, which is very possible at the moment. Should compete for everything as much as possible in my opinion.

Not to dispel your argument, but to be fair, Alli was suspended and Dier complained of cramp after the Arsenal game, so I assume he was feeling the amount of games played recently. On one hand I agree, this is a chance for a European cup and that should be grabbed with both hands, however, I know that I would much rather win the league this year than the Europa and I don't doubt that if Spurs go on and do it, this will all be forgotten. I just feel for the travelling fans who presumably paid a lot of money to attend that game.

They've got champions league football in the bag and are 100% in the running for the league, why risk the injuries?

Why not win both? Football is about winning as many trophies as you can.

Without doubt the worst utd squad I have seen in my lifetime. The most boring also. Not fit to wear the shirt.

No7 I agree. If United were in Spurs' position I'd be fuming if we gave up a trophy just to focus on the league, especially if they don't win it. Also, winning any trophy is a sign of how good your squad is, surely managers want to prove they've built the best possible squad?

That is the united mentality of SAF era which was why not win all of them, most teams including spurs are delighted to be in the running to win the league which is a rarity and hence will dump competitions like Europa for the sake of winning the league.
