Well if tonight's performance doesn't convince the United board to get transfers moving quicker, nothing will. We are crying out for an Amrabat, where we bulk the midfield with Fred, we don't have that option right now. Arsenal game coming up. We need a combative midfielder sharpish. Also Mainoo back to rotate with Casemiro. As for Maguire, just pay him his extra couple million before we are lumbered with him. I knew it would come down to this and fully expected us to drag it out. Pay up, get his replacement in.

Yeah, we need that performance to wake a few people up at the club. Notable that Lindelof was selected to come on ahead of McGuire again. Hopefully he gets the point.

We clearly have arrived at the first game of the season unprepared. Wolves were more energetic, played as a team and had far more cutting edge upfront. Wolves games are always tight affairs for us, we struggled with their formation.

If scotty goes, we need 2 midfielders. If he stays we need 1. I have a horrible feeling that EtH actual believes that mount and Eriksen can play 8. If that is the case we have a rude awakening coming.

I think it was a worrying display. Wolves ran past our midfield quite easily. Don't think we were building anything from the back either, CBs and GK having the ball is not going to trouble any opposition if our forward players don't offer themselves to receive the ball.

The striking issue was the lack of dynamic off-the-ball movement from the players, they just don't seem to shake off their man or move into space when the first passing option is closed, this is where a deeper lying MF will help (probably Amrabat, although I've only seen him during the WC, so not sure how good/ bad he really is) . Good teams, that are tactically sound tend to find that pocket of space for themselves, or if not, then for other teammates.

I guess, Mount and Bruno are still trying to figure out how to co-exist in the same team, just never saw either of them trying to create short passes during the game.

But anyway, still a couple of more positions to fill, hopefully by the time the window closes, we should have those reinforcements and this post will be lost as a match reaction.

On to the next one.

I was criticised on here when we signed Mount and I wasn’t happy…

This team will end up only having room for one of Mount OR Bruno - especially with Casemiro starting to look like he’s running through treacle.

Neto was magnificent last night, great to watch, along with a few others. I wonder if Wolves will be one of those teams that only turns up against the top 4. If they play every week like they did last night, they will be absolutely fine. From their point of view, a great performance and incredibly unlucky.

From our point of view, very poor. Players playing for themselves again. Waiting to counter. It was like having Ole back in charge. Failed to string 5 passes together. Bruno trying the Hollywood pass every time. Gernacho didn’t do anything to claim the LW position.

In hindsight we could’ve done with McTominay from the start, at the expense of Mount. There’s no way Scott allows their midfielders to steamroll us the way they did last night. If he departs, we need to bring in another physical presence who can stand up for themselves when needed. We looked too soft.

A win’s a win and we won’t remember the performance at the end of the season but performance levels need to raise very quickly!

Never mind Arsenal, Sydney. I'd actually be worried about the trip to Spurs on last night's showing.
