Watching Maguire, a Manchester United captain and £80m footballer, put in yet another shaky and inept performance, brought home how embarrassed I have been of United’s recent club captains.

Agree that Maguire isn't upto the mark as a captain when you compare him to the legends above but yesterdays performance wasnt all down to him. It was a stupid decision by the buffoon to play him when he hadn't trained 2 full sessions because he was out injured and was just returning.

It isn’t just about yesterday UA. He is regularly a liability and does ridiculously dumb things on the pitch. I actually think he lacks confidence in personality and isn’t comfortable in his shoes as United captain.

Take the armband away and he might even play better.

But most of his mistakes weren't really injury related.

First goal he just doesn't come to the ball and gets it knicked off of him.

Second goal he unnecessarily plays the ball out for a corner under no pressure.

Third goal he sees vardy and goes to mark him then backs away for no reason.

Fourth goal he sees daka making the run and doesn't move in any way to stop him.

If he got caught in a 1 vs 1 with vardy and got done for pace or undone by a tricky piece of skill by maddison or iheanacho, then fair enough i'd cut him some slack.

Maguire is a poor defender. His lack of mobility and pace is a real issue and rightly so, is often targeted in defence. More often than not he can be see man ha doing players week in, week out.

The easy thing would be to sell him, cut our losses and bring in a CB who can play football and defend.

Maguire starts the season slow and has been terrible this season. Even after getting fully fit is an average at best defender. Hopefully a proper manager gets rid of him quick and get a good partner for varane.
Lindelof needs to be moved on as well.

Given his ineptitude yesterday and the general ineptitude of the club's management, I would not be surprised if United upped their offer.

I disagree that the mistakes yesterday weren’t injury related, he was clearly struggling after 15 minutes and kept kicking the ball out of play, the one where he put it out for the corner before their 2nd goal was definitely because he was injured / tired, he should have controlled it, turned and passed it out, instead he gives a stupid corner away. Playing him was one mistake, keeping him on at half time when he showed in the first half how off the pace he was is absolutely unforgivable.
