Not surprised at all with the defeat. Our football has been below average for a long while now. How has mourinho still not got rid of smalling is shocking. Seriously smalling and jones have survived at united just for filling the english quota of players otherwise they would have been nowhere near the first team.

luckily we are still 2nd because of the way chelsea have played lately.

We are at serious risk of being overtaken by Liverpool and spurs if our performances don’t improve soon. Not good.

Still question marks over zidane for me. Obviously a lot better than ole but his madrid teams never looked convincing with the talent they had. Plus there are rumours he isn't keen on joining us or the english league.

3 champions league in a row.
He is a winner and is miles better than Ole.
Zidane also wanted Pogba, VDB at Madrid and has also worked with Ronaldo/ Varane.

2.) 09 Nov 2021 07:38:07
I don't believe ZZ is a good fit. Being better than Ole isn't exclusive. I like the 'rumour', such as it is, of Rangnick as interim replacement to move into the DOF role when a full time replacement is in post.

Frantic football by two desperate sides, atleast nuno hasn't been on the job 3 yrs, spent millions and still learning.

3 good goals but the result just meant 3 points and i couldn't even be excited as the clueless one will continue to carry on.

Amazing effort from wan bissaka in this game.

A very good result by a squad united. Ole had to do something different and he did. The result was never in doubt. I wonder if spurs will have zero shots on target against anyone else this season?

Test 1. Success.

Onto midweek and then the derby.

2.) 31 Oct 2021 03:58:51
Atrocious football but atleast he got a win.
He's saved his sacking now for the immediate future.

3.) 31 Oct 2021 04:27:02
Atrocious football? Wow. I enjoyed the match from start to finish. Quality performance.

4.) 31 Oct 2021 05:58:16
Ronaldo made the difference with that moment of top quality.
Else it would have been a drab draw.

Varane coming back was immense.
Literally intercepted everything in his way and won every duel.

Still this back 8 is against the United DNA.
The clueless one doesn't know his best team/ formation even after 3 years.

5.) 31 Oct 2021 07:55:27
Dodgy I agree, I really enjoyed that game. Text a mate of mine at half time saying I really enjoyed the first half.

Mctominay and wan bissaka were excellent and the two up top showed their class.

6.) 31 Oct 2021 08:14:37
It was far from a “quality” performance Dodgy.

Defensive and again relied on individual magic.

7.) 31 Oct 2021 09:58:30
Forgive me if this seems a silly question, but with regard to individual brilliance, is that not why we pay big money for top players? Moments of brilliance?

When we couldn't unlock teams, we used to bemoan the lack of creativity.
Now, when we can unlock teams, we make moments of brilliance sound like a bad thing.

8.) 31 Oct 2021 11:08:21
People mention the Utd DNA, but at times Fergies last couple of season, the football was poor. This is often forgotten as we kept on winning the league.

9.) 31 Oct 2021 12:12:31
Atrocious football? Nope, only the post.

Defensive? I actually didn’t think it was and not sure other than formation what’s making you think that. Nevertheless, with Conte - we are surely going to get more of this but it’s OK as we might win. After losing 5-0 to pool, winning 3-0 playing ‘defensive’ is surely ok too?

Hopefully more of you had fun supporting United in the win than be sad about it as it meant Ole is still the manager.

10.) 31 Oct 2021 13:30:25
Good post Circles. I'll take the joy in a win all day long, over whether I want the manager gone or not. If there's more wins, he'll stay, if we go win one lose one, he'll be away soon enough anyway.

11.) 31 Oct 2021 16:21:42
Exactly. I am hoping i am totally wrong in this assumption people would rather have United lose so that Ole is fired. And then the next manager. There wil always be some that don’t like a manager. Heck, some didn’t like Fergie. Hopefully folks realize that there will always be someone in that camp of “out” even before a manager is announced.

12.) 31 Oct 2021 17:14:35
I couldn’t pick a player who didn’t play well yesterday to be honest so it was obviously a good performance from back to front.

28 May 2021 06:54:39
Thinking about ole being incharge next season is making my head turn already. It has the top 4 dogfight written all over it.

Something clearly needs to change if Ole is allowed to continue. Coaching staff certainly can be upgraded to get some fresh ideas and to shake things up. Also the bull opinions of the people (past players) within the club including the Sir Alex influence is really holding this club back imo. The whole set up stinks of living in the past.

well atleast the transfer window will give us a better idea of what the ambitions of the club are.

mumbaianc

1.) 28 May 2021 08:03:07
People talk about sacking the manager like it will change something.

Fact is that as long as Ole gets top 4 he will continue to be Manchester United manager. Regardless of the style of play, regardless of whether he actually wins something.

If he gets top 4 every year for the next 5 years playing the same football and not winning a button he'll still be given a new contract.

The rot starts at the top, and it filters down. Replace the plasterboard if you want but the damp will still keep coming back until you sort the root of the problem.

2.) 28 May 2021 08:05:13
I've been pondering our situation since the cup final.

Ole isn't going anywhere, that's for sure. But, I think I reasonable solution I can still hope for is new coaches coming in.

There's areas of our game that desperately need to be improved, eg set piece defending, breaking down a low block, dealing with a high press, surely they can be coached to deal with these situations in a much more effective way.

Ole does seem to have built strong relationships with the squad and has I proved the mood, creating a strong team spirit and work ethic. Those are good things. Of he can get better coaches in to focus on the areas we are lacking, plus strengthen the squad, perhaps we can get out of this rut.

That's my current hope anyway.

3.) 28 May 2021 09:02:47
Ole will be here next season as he's matching the ambition of the club. Well run clubs would never have appointed him permanently in the first place and certainly wouldn't accept the shortcomings we've had over his time. Especially considering the likes of Allegri, Conte, Pochettino, Ancelotti and others have all been available during his tenure.

The fact is the club is poorly run and poor decisions are consistently made regarding players, coaches, the stadium becoming ever more dilapidated etc.

From a footballing point of view, the club seem to have the same ambition as Arsenal did when they moved to the Emirates. As long as you get Champions League then you've succeeded.

4.) 28 May 2021 09:07:12
Shappy, sacking an inept manager and replacing him with someone who knows what they are doing would definitely change something.
Ole has taken us as far as he can.

5.) 28 May 2021 09:24:26
The real problems at the club are above Ole, and so long as the club is run the way it is we can change managers but it won't fix anything. All that will happen is more of the last 8 years, big name manager comes in, maybe wins a minor trophy or two, spends a ton on big name players then gets fired and the next manager is lumbered with overpaid underperforming big names who don't even fit how he wants the team to play, cycle repeats.

Sticking with Ole won't fix the real problems, but at least will provide continuity, while replacing him won't fix the real problems either.

6.) 28 May 2021 09:46:27
Changing coaches but keeping Ole could be the best compromise.

Defensively we are a shambles which is why we concede so many silly and easily avoidable goals from set pieces.

But then Ole was a striker, Carrick was a midfielder, McKenna was never a professional player. Leaving Phelan who although played at RB was never a top defender. We don't actually have a coach at the club who was or is a dedicated defensive coach.

Bringing someone in for that role could make a huge difference. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

7.) 28 May 2021 10:37:04
The coaches are uninspiring to watch, that's for sure. The three of them never look angry or animated on the touchline like you'd want to see and the conversations the lot of them have seem to be monosyllabic. Said it lots of times, Ole should be a coach. Great man manager, great at putting his arm around the players. Awful tactician.

8.) 28 May 2021 11:08:52
How can you say changing the manager won't change anything?

You're basically saying managers have no baring on results?

No manager on earth could improve our results?

9.) 28 May 2021 11:15:37
I feel like breaking my tv whenever I hear him saying that's just football and saying we are getting better and better
Lunatic.

10.) 28 May 2021 11:16:17
My dad made a comment last night that the club are in a perfect storm, the board see Champions League as the most important achievement (they want trophy's but not at all cost) and they want it at the least amount of money. The manager views things as a long term project and whilst he wants trophy's also views progress as success.

He also will not rock the boat and quit if he does not get what he ultimately wants in transfers (as a Conte has just done) . The coaches are in the comfort zone at the minute of the club wanting this Manchester United way which at the minute seems to just be employ from within or previous players (this is admiral and I do feel better about this than under previous managers.
All in all it ensd up falling short of what the fans want, what the club needs going forward for proper success.

I hope this is all wrong and we see serious recruitment, a couple of new coaches coming in with new ideas (Olly has said he is a manager not a coach so this side of recruitment is important), Olly become braver with subs next year and fully use the full 25 squad and we hit the ground running.

11.) 28 May 2021 11:29:20
Ole has a lot of backing, he's pals in media and half of United fans like Shappy AJH etc are in streets of United backing him blindly because of he's connection as United Player.

As an LFC fan I just hope he continues as your manager 😀😀.

12.) 28 May 2021 11:31:11
I am sorry but i disagree with almost everyone on this thread. You can blame the owners of no ambitions and all you want but the fans are equally to be blamed if not more. We have stood up for this mediocrity and there are still some who would go to any depths to defend Ole, eg Shappy 😉😉. Glazers won't change a thing, why should they? Top 4 finishes, money flowing, fanbase protesting about nonsensical things and not about the footballing side. Its all good for them. Fly "Ole Out" banner above OT and they will take notice. But "fans" wont. Because they have that weird 99 romance with Ole.

If you want to blame the Glazers, first blame yourself because you have defended this mediocrity.

13.) 28 May 2021 12:07:49
Flying banners over the ground? Are you 12? It’s so embarrassing when teams do that. I think people have respect for Ole rather than a ‘weird romance’.

14.) 28 May 2021 12:45:54
I don't know any 12 year olds who can fly a plane GDS.

15.) 28 May 2021 12:46:13
Respect for what might i ask GDS? What has Ole the manager done for me to respect him. You can respect Ole the player that he once was - "a perennial substitute happy to be on bench rather than be a starter elsewhere".

If i were 12, i would have stopped watching United. I don't like to get bored. And i am pretty certain that everytime a banner has been flown over a stadium it was never a 12 year old who floated the idea.

16.) 28 May 2021 18:32:38
You genuinely think floating a banner over a stadium is a good idea?

I’ve read down the page and it’s just a given now that Ole is a clown, some people literally calling him a clown, it’s pretty embarrassing.

17.) 28 May 2021 21:08:06
Anything that gets Ole out of here is a wonderful idea. Ole is a clown and he has brought it upon himself.

Definitely not the best window when we are supposed to be rebuilding the squad but a good opportunity for most of the underperforming players to step up along with the upcoming younger players.

Excited for players like greenwood, gomes, chong, tuanzebe and garner who really have an opportunity this season to make a mark this season.

Need fred, martial and perreira to step up as well. Hopefully they get a good run of games even if they are struggling initially because those players really need to settle in the first team.

Ole definitely not backed this window and rightfully as well since there are still question marks as to how good he is. Hopefully he is successful here and keeps being ruthless to our usual suspect players.

Thanks to all the eds for doing a wonderful job in between all the madness.

Absolutely clueless as to where we might finish at the end of the season but think we might surprise a few. GGMU!

Shappy hit the nail on the head. We our trying to build a team around a player who doesn't want to be here. Instead of pogba our focus needs to be on improving positions we have neglected for so long ( no proper wingers, makeshift fullbacks) and assemble a proper balanced squad that plays to a proper system.

Timber seems to be almost done with martinez being the next player united bid on. Antony could be another one united go for if ajax get his replacement.

Maguire starts the season slow and has been terrible this season. Even after getting fully fit is an average at best defender. Hopefully a proper manager gets rid of him quick and get a good partner for varane.
Lindelof needs to be moved on as well.

Atleast all the fingers will be pointed at ole from now on. can't figure out whether he is supposed to play his 70+ million man yet, should be sacked for that alone.
