Looking at who we have brought in, are we better suited to 433 or 4231?

Formations are a funny thing 433/4231/451 are only very slight variations of each other and each team would make those tweaks depending on who the opposition is and who we have available at the time.

I could see Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Herrera as our first choice midfield. Now they could play any of the above formations.

With Schweinsteiger as the base midfielder you can then have Schneiderlin and Herrera either both playing as box to box players or have Schneiderlin along side Schweinsteiger and Herrera more as a No.10.

These signings have not only added quality to our team but also flexibility. That's why its so mouth watering.

Carrick to be faded out over time and share the workload in the mean time.

Carrick will rotate with Schweinsteiger but slowly be phased out. He turns 34 soon, and although he could go on for another couple of years the injuries are starting to take effect.
