I was thinking, if you had the choice, would you rather; A. Buy a load of quality first teams players this summer, probably have immediate success, but then have to do it all again in 3 years or so, or B. Stick the youth in the first team now and blood them through, possibly having another class of 92 moment, with the likes of Januzaj, Keane, Henriquez, Lingard, Powell etc. granted we may have a rough few years at the start, but then could go onto having a longer period of success, perhaps 10 plus years or so, without having to constantly buy, sort of Barca esque.

What would you guys prefer?

Option C, sign a couple of first team players, move on a few of the squad players who aren't good enough and then promote the youth as well. That way we are able to maintain a challenge and possibly win titles in the short term and maintain success long term by giving the youth a chance.

Remember its never just one way or the other. A compramise is nearly always the best solution.

He should try to achieve a combination of these two.Right now we need to buy top talent imo though.

I would prefer us to plan to win now and going forward that so developing both youth and having a mix of youth and experience in the first team squad. Right now we are in need of a midfielder who can win the ball with energy to burn. Bender, Gungodan or if needed Fellaini. That is right now not next season. If we are to compete ate the highest level we need this player now.

You can buy top players and still have success for more than 3 years, there are plenty of top top players around 25 which would give us 7/8 years! Not just 3

Elvis. Unitef have not bought a decent midfielder in years. We need two top midfielders now.

We're not the only team in the world that has a great young kids coming thru in the next few years, so, not buying now, thinking that it may happen again is bs! We need proven footballers, right now, it's the present that matters.

I agree with what you are all saying, we need a good balance of youth and experience and to be fair, we do sort of have that at the moment, we just need to add some more quality in and around the squad/first 11. I don't think we are too far away to challenge for the champions league, if we sign the right players of course. Ideally I would love a summer of, Baines, Fellaini, Cesc and Ronaldo. I think we would be strong everywhere then and in a perfect place to challenge on all fronts. Then the next summer going for more youthful prospects e.g Barkley/Gundogan/Shaw and really bring our own youth through. Obviously this is just a dream, but somewhere along those lines, if we want to be at the very top amongst the Madrid's and Barca's etc.

And Hughesy, I said 3 years mostly becasue of the ages of Carrick, Rio, Vida, even Rvp, but it's all hypothetical and was just interested what you guys thought. Thanks for the response guys!

I would prefer to see the club go into the transfer window with targets already lined up. And before you all jump down my throat and say moyes needed time to get to know the squad I only partially agree.

Moyes clearly had a good understanding of our soft centre as he has managed to exploit it using Everton over the past few seasons.

Moyes said at the start of the summer that he would be judged on the quality of his signings. I suspect that if he does not sign anybody the judgements will be far more critical.

I have said it before, woody, dm please prove me wrong. I will happily eat humble pie if it means the team is performing.
