West ham have made a new bid of £30m for Maguire, they are waiting on uniteds response. Surely we can't turn this down? On reflection it's a fair offer and probably about his current market value.

I said at the start of the summer that I reckon West Ham would snap our hands off for any of Henderson, Maguire or McTominay. Can’t help but think we missed a trick offering up some kind of swap deal for Rice involving two or even all three of them.

I think we’ll reject the £30m, say we want £40m but then a deal will be done somewhere in the middle.

{Ed002's Note - I think a joint bid for SM and HM is coming.}

If we can get £60-£65m for the pair of them we will have done very well. As Downsie mentioned though, it’s gutting to think that we could potentially have gotten Rice for an extra £40m.

It’s nice to see the West Ham board finally backing Moysey. I read somewhere recently that the relationship between him and the owners was a little tense at the minute and that he might not be around much longer, but their willingness to drop £50m+ on players that would suit his playing style would seem to suggest that is no longer the case (assuming it ever was in the first place) .

Ed the oracle strikes again ?? Some journo has just tweeted that very thing ed. joint bid believed to be north of £50m. Do u think we will agree a deal ed? Maybe not at that price but it seems that westham are keen and hopefully we are willing sellers.

{Ed002's Note - Subject to a little discussion I would think so.}

Bet the greedy amateurs screw it up.

I wonder how many people were saying the club were amateurs/ ridiculous/ stupid for not accepting the original £20m offer from West Ham? Maguire will do very well at West Ham and I imagine there will be some lunatics calling for him back like they did for Chris smalling!

After years and years of being beyond amateur, full credit has to be given to the club and powers that be - I can’t remember the last time we had a window where everything has played out almost to perfection! Hojland may be on the expensive side but with PSG sniffing around him I think we did what we had to do to get that deal over the line!

If we can get a combined £65m for Maguire and McTom, £20m for Donny, £15m for Fred that’ll be a lovely £100m recouped from players that shouldn’t be anywhere near our squad and I for one, will be doing cartwheels about it!

I’d probably let Sancho go if circa £60m can be raised for him and use that for Amrabat and 1x young centre back and use the above £100m for a deadline day bid for Kane if Bayern haven’t managed to get him by then! That happens and the cartwheels will turn into full on Nani celebrations!

I think the glazers are greedy and the amateurs were the people they employed.

I will let Redman choose the noun to complete the description for the Glazers, The greedy xxxxx

Clueless amateurs sums up the management they have had in place over the last decade. The current bunch i am reserving judgement on for now.

Did it ever cross your mind that maybe we do not see any value at spending 105 mill on rice and hence not interested. City dropped out well before that and they supposedly were interested. Rice is not 105 mill player. I for one glad we stayed out of it.

Rodri is supposedly valued at 75 mill. does rice even measure up to be worth 30 mill more.

There are a few options, but on this site Leeches is an appropriate description. Well over £1Bn lost to the club so they could own it. Disgusting what has happened and if Qatar win, it will be a great day. The aim for the club should be football related going forward.

Thanks ed. would be a brilliant move for all concerned both financially and professionally. Would also allow us to bring in amrabat and possibly another cb. Think that improves our squad depth and quality massively.

Bang on ED002,

A reported £60 million bid has been made for SM and HM.

Thanks for all the support that you and the all the EDs provide.

£30m bid rejected for mctominay. Maguire still ongoing and they are seen as separate deals not dependent on each other. If we screw this up ? we undersell or overvalue…just for once find the happy medium for everyone’s sake.

I think some add-ons up to 35ish for Maguire, probably want closer to £40m for Scott? Be amazing if we got anywhere near, would sign amrabat or lavia if he's still an option and Inacio to replace them.

Apparently we’ve turned down £30m each for Maguire and McTominay. £60m for the pair would’ve been incredible business for us. What are we thinking?

I feel a late bid coming for Harry Kane. Wonder if glazers will borrow money from Qatar and then Qatar will clear off the debt. Just saying.

Rejecting that sort of money for your 5th choice centre back and 6th choice central midfielder seems daft.

That could surely get us Amrabat, a centre back replacement and even stretch to a 2nd choice keeper?

Your guess is as good as mine downsie. Their value is only going to depreciate over the next year, sell now because next year they might only be worth 10-15m. Neither are exactly spring chickens either.

if 60 mill is true I think it will get done but maybe around 65/ 70 million. Its good for both as they can get their careers going by playing week in week out and also seems to be good for us given the changes we are making.

Think mctom is worth far more than 30 million looking at other business done!
Can see Maguire getting done at some point though they clearly want him.

Moyes won that war then.

Fred also talking to Fulham again. Can see a £15m bid there too.

vDB loan to buy.

Henderson still on.

That's a good £100m on outgoings if all are sold. That does give EtH money for Todibo, Amrabat and possibly a RB.

If they get more money for them rejecting it is a good deal. If we can't shift em because we rejectwd that deal then its a bad deal. Hindsight is womderful.

Oakbark. With the season starting in less than a week, I’d think that getting the deal done so that we can sign their replacements as soon as possible would be more important than the million or two we may be haggling over. As you say, there’s also a chance that WHU will just walk away from the deal, to which I’d ask whether it was really worth being stuck with two unhappy players who will be worth considerably less in 12 months time.

Ahmad. It did, but then I remembered that we paid €80m for Antony last season. If we’re willing to pay well over the odds for a bang average player then we should be willing to pay it for one that would boss out midfield for the next decade.

with maguire offer it comes down to the wages suide and i would suspect it could be the item needing most negotiation- mc tom I reckon they have a case for asking more due to his age and versatility; would be great if both players could move and we land £60-65 million in the bank.

I think I have been very vocal on Antony and how he is not worth the money. Making one mistake does not justify making another one.

First time poster, apologies in advance Ed002 (i used the search, but didn't see anything recent) .

Do we have any interest in Romeo Lavia? If not, why not? I know you're not in charge of transfer policy, but just curious if you have any insight. 19 yr old, league experience, etc.

Also, any chance the club would take Sergino Dest on loan or permanent for rb/ lb cover? Seems like Barcelona are eager to offload little to nothing.

Thanks for all y'all do!

{Ed002's Note - Romeo Lavia (DM) was purchased by Southampton from Manchester City as the long term Romeu replacement. Southampton will not want to sell and a significant offer from Chelsea was rejected, but Manchester City have the option to buy the player back if he is made available in 2024 and they could perhaps get involved this summer as they look to upgrade Kalvin Phillips. Chelsea may return with another offer in the summer as they look for two DM players, but do have preferred choices. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have sent scouts. My understanding is that have simply, like Manchester United, asked what the terms of any transfer Southampton would expect (e.g. do they want a single payment or will the allow payments to be spread). Southampton will hold firm on their £50M valuation which Liverpool see as too high - but I understand they may negotiate down to £48M. Southampton have approached Joe Shields at Chelsea to discuss interest and Manchester City regarding their intentions over the £40M buy back for 2004. Arsenal did see him as a cut price option to Rice or Caicedo but the cost could still be significant for a player who may be seen largely as back up to the now purchased Rice. The departure of Thomas Partey could potentially change that, but I doubt it. Newcastle offer a less likely solution. Lavia will become homegrown which is a huge bonus. The first bid from Liverpool was £34M plus £4M add ons and the second not much better - they should win out but the door remains open to other clubs.

Dest won't be moving to Manchester United.}
