After today's performance, If you were de Jong would you come to United? If you were Rabiot, even if your mummy said it was okay, would you want to come to United?

Those of us who thought maybe, just maybe, we would see some immediate signs of improvement have egg on our faces this evening. We are further forced to doubt EtH's acumen in buying Martinez as a CB in the EPL. He was bullied by Danny last week and looked no better this.

But the problems of last year persist. In transition players make runs that defenders and midfielders cannot see. Defensive headers are too often picked up by the opponents. Other than Eriksen who prevented a repetition of Branford's 3rd goal, players do not adjust to take account of what the opposition is doing (witness de Gea for their second) . Bruno is wasteful and overly speculative. Neither Sancho nor Rashford seem to be able to take on and beat a man.

This is going to be an interesting albeit potentially very painful season and maybe as much for what happens off the pitch as on it. Admittedly it's a very small market but the recent rise in the stock price suggests people are speculating on a sale of the club. Could it come to that?

One can only hope so. You can blame Woodward, the managers and the players, but the rot starts at the top. Their ownership is toxic, and always has been. They have invested nothing of their own. They have used other people's money and the club's cash flows to enhance their own wealth while destroying everything our club has stood for.

Bang on with assessment of the parasite owners
I don’t get how supposed clever businessmen can run one of the greatest clubs in the world to a complete shambles.

Totally agree but as Jamie Rednapp tried to ask Gary neville earlier if the owners sold the club in the morning and we had a new owner for the next game would we see a totally different attitude or energy from the players?!

Totally agree about the owners. But the money we've spent since they've taken over whether borrowed or not is more than most teams in world football. The players as a whole are a shambles and need to take responsibility. They aren't fit to wear the badge!
