I believe that our issues stem from midfield which clearly lacks balance and is porous in the extreme. McTominay's strengths lie in arriving late into the box but he falls woefully short defensively. Bruno can be creative and chips in with goals but his passing is erratic and he is indisciplined defensively. He is certainly not at the level of De Britney or Rodri. I don't believe that Mainoo will evolve as a defensive midfielder but will play further forward. Casemiro is indeed a defensive midfielder but no longer has the legs to cover the ground. And Eriksen likes to play a pass but again falls way short defensively. We need young energetic, tenacious players who won't let the dog away with the bone.

EtH wanted de Jong, and got a very different player in Casemiro. Then got Mount, and noone knows why. The midfield stinks other than the brilliant emergence of Mainoo. We’re going to lose Cas and Eriksen, maybe Barkley on a free is a shout. Probably in team of year atm.
