Afternoon. I mentioned him the other day and I have to say once again, last night Scott Mctominay came on in the second half and although as a team the second half wasn't the best, I thought Mctominay looked good on the ball, not overwhelmed and won a couple of headers in the centre of the park. I really think this boy could be the answer to replace Carrick long term.

Looked decent, Ports. Kept it simple, couple of decent crosses. Looks confident on the ball. Hope he gets a bit of first team action here and there this season.

I really like the lad, he certainly has caught my eye on this pre-season tour.

In recent years I have not seen a united youth graduate that has made me take notice, but McTominay has impressed me. He reminds me a bit more of Ander Herrera, has good vision and creativity, but willing to put a shift in and do the dog work.

The thing that really impressed me though last night was his cross for Fellaini, which the big wig absolutely fluffed. It's been a while since I've seen a united player whip a ball in like that. Maybe we do practice crossing at the club.

Ports, early days yet for Mctominay. He does fit the profile for Carrick's position, with his size and decent ability on the ball. But it seems that defensive midfield might be one the hardest positions to put a young player. So much reading of the game is required to play there. The game is 360 degrees around but also with a lot at stake if you give the ball away.

Sadly McTominay looks like so many Untied youth players. Not good enough for United but will be a very solid PL player for someone else.

I think Jose may like him big lad, good passer of the ball and doesn't overplay when doesn't need to, I have watched him quite a bit over the last year and he is getting better all the time think league cup may be for him and a couple of others .
