To come to United, whether as a player, a manager, a director, a scout or a coach, winning has to be in your blood. It has to be your passion, and it has to be an expectation. Doing ones best is not enough, only being the best.

It starts with the scouting system - being able to recognize not just the raw talent but also the desire and determination - as LVG would say, the whole person. Then it's handed over to the coaches who have to instill the hunger, tactics, and attitudes which are characteristic of winners.

Mourinho has the gift. Wenger may have had it but seems to have lost it, having become a perennial second best manager. Moyes never had it and never will. Guardiola - I'd like to see him take on a club that wasn't already at the top of the game before pronouncing judgment. Anecelloti has it. Ferguson had it. Simeoni and Klopp?
LVG has had his moments and we can but hope he has his final one with us.

all the winners must be chuffed with 4th then .

you should never accept second best once you do your standards have dropped .
to get to the top you strive to be the best

You should look into what Pep achieved with the Barca B team before saying he hasn't coached anyone at the top of their game

Pep is class no doubt in my mind but what he achieved with Baca second string is not a fair argument as its a very poor league for instance what Eddie Howe has achieved at Bournemouth is a better achievement than what pep did at Baca 2nd team.
