Ed02 - is there any interest in Anthony Gordon? Chelsea appear to be very keen on him and I wondered if he'd be an alternative option to Antony if we're priced out of a move.

So Gakpo plays on the left, Antony on the right. Sancho plays on the right, Rashford on the left, who is getting replaced.
If the rumours are true and we are spending €100million to replace someone we bought for €70million, that seems a bit mad, or is Sancho going to play on the left, Rashford getting dropped or being move to CF against Martial and Ronaldo (if he stays) .
As Ed says Gakpo is the sensible option, let him compete with Rashford and save some money to spend on a striker next year.

I think Gakpo can play down the middle too and good target man given his size. Anthony is small and a winger.

Grim, we need a striker, which strikers are we strongly linked with?
Maybe the idea is to play Rashford and Martial as the central strikers this season.
Both played as a central striker against Liverpool and both were successful in their role through the middle.
Maybe EtH feels he can be the one to coach Rashford to fulfill his early promise as a striker.
In which case we need other options wide. Maybe that is why we are being linked with BOTH Antony and Gakpo.
Maybe the aim is to have Antony and Sancho for RW, Gakpo and Garnacho for LW and Rashford and Martial for CF.

Are United interested in bringing both Gakpo and Antony Ed? Seems odd that the plan B to Antony would be a player who plays in a different position.

Not like any of those players have gone through a bad run of form or have a record of getting injured lol.

Mdb, I like Elanga, he has a great attitude. However, I suspect over the course of this season that Garnacho will overtake him in the pecking order.
EtH has clear ideas about what he wants from his players.
I think that Zidane Iqbal has overtaken James Garner, and Charlie Savage has overtaken Ethan Galbraith in the pecking order.

Watched psv vs rangers last night. I think gakpo will struggle with pl. must be something about anyhony that eth sees given the reports off what we are willing to go to to get him.
I watch a lot of la liga, 2 years ago vinicius looked like a headless chicken and look at him now. So maybe anthony has similar potential.
Btw the guy isak who newcastle are rumoured to sign is a good signing for them.
