That's the problem with buying MF. He didn't play for DM for Everton and from what I can see from watching small amounts of Belgium he doesn't for them. Total waste of 27m . He is not affective as a DM and he has been bought to play further forward we could have better for less. {Ed002's Note - The is no need to be rude about the players of the club you support.}

Well Carrick is o a 1 year rolling contract and that is up in the summer. And personally I would rather see Fernando play in our midfield rather than Anderson, Cleverly or Giggs.
It makes sense, we didn't just need 1 central midfielder over the summer and that still hasn't changed.

I suspect the reason we are looking at fernando is
a) he is a top player and available at a low price
b) with carrick now 32 (i think) he won't be able to go on forever and will decline
c) he would allow us to change things tactically, if he were played alongside a witsel or herrera or say jones we would have excellent cover for the centre backs giving our full backs greater freedom to attack, whilst allowing us to move away from using wingers by allowing a third midfielder, be it anderson, powell, cleverly or fellaini (and carrick for maybe another season), into a more attacking role then have a front two out of rvp, rooney or hernandez and playing kagawa or januzaj in they're prefered role in the hole, or if kagawa is to leave then this cabella or maybe pastore if he is really available

if we were to play this way, and needed to add width then would simply sub a midfielder for say zaha and move kagawa or januzaj to the left. if kagawa does want to move back to dortmund (and who would blame him) then I think swapping subotic is a must as he would be an obvious replacement for vidic and would free jones to play alonside fernando in midfield where I think he would excel

Shappy, cabella is a central attacking midfielder who is just as comfortable on the right of a 4-2-3-1. Buying him would suggest a tactical switch which I would welcome
