Delap to Chelsea then. Rumours hargreaves was in Naples for talks about osimhen. They want hojlund plus £30+m. Take that with a pinch of salt but if that's true I'll drive hojlund there myself lol.

Agree6 Disagree0

Honestly working under Conte and training with Lukaku wouldn't be the worst thing for Hojlunds career.

I feel for the lad, is in way above his head and his confidence is so low he can't even control the ball.

Hope he goes back to Italy or moves to a less physical league and showcases his talent.

29 May 2025 14:50:25
There is definitely a player in Hojlund, he is young and needs time sitting behind another striker. Definitely a case of wrong player, wrong time, wrong club, wrong country.

I expect him to learn a lot if he goes to Napoli and take over from Lukaku in a couple of years.

Just awful for us now.

Some players are just suited to a certain country or style of play. Think Italy is the best place for Rasmussen and this would be a good deal for all if somehow it materialises.

29 May 2025 15:50:33
Dread to think what kind of wages Oshimen will be asking for.

29 May 2025 16:01:50
Oshimen is going to Saudi.

29 May 2025 16:52:06
So that’s Delap out.

And if Oshimen is too expensive or off to Saudi as mentioned about.

Gyrokeres not likely due to player wanting champions league apparently.

Sesko will cost a fortune.

What strikers out there does that leave us with? The only one I can think of that has loosely been mentioned is Mateta from palace. Anybody else?

I’m hopeful they have something up their sleeve. 100% can’t go into next season with no new striker.

29 May 2025 17:37:48
Hojlund is a decent player just doesn’t have what Amorim needs and is raw.

He will have a fine career just not at Utd.

29 May 2025 18:24:11
#Fallguy

I think Šeško would cost the same as Gyokeres.

29 May 2025 19:27:51
Wissa, Mateta and the likes would be much better than what we have. I'd be very happy with either of those two.

29 May 2025 19:46:40
Let Rasmus leave to develop his career but be smart and put in a buy back clause.

29 May 2025 19:51:13
Reports suggest the asking price for Sesko is around £90m or something like that.

29 May 2025 20:13:51
Personally, whilst Osimehen is a quality finisher, he comes with baggage and huge wages.

Why not Mateta plus David.

Cheeky double raid of Bournemouth as an another option, with Wissa joining the mooted interest in Mbeumo.

29 May 2025 21:12:45
If he is a quality finisher and is scoring goals he deserves his high wages.

30 May 2025 03:27:48
I think we need to keep Hojlund and add another striker. The lad is 22 and although his confidence is shot, it’s not his fault entirely as nobody creates chances in this current team let alone scores.

Biti of competition up front and rotation will do him wonders.

Are there any good older exoericed guys we can bring in to teach him?

30 May 2025 04:44:05
Rasmus just not got the skillset for EPL he is 6ft3and weak, wrestles every player and loses, ends up on the floor, useless in the air, can’t hold ball up, always on his heels and worst of all just not got a strikers brain……. and ego that says he is already a superstar…. won’t want to be understudy and quite honestly better having the 17 year old as an understudy then Rasmus. He was a terrible singing, just get rid, why keep players who have shown nothing, then be in same position next season…
Ok saying oh just put this or that in contract, but contracts have to be agreed by all parties not just what United want or would like!

Højlund is a player who suited the role he was signed for under the manager he was signed under.

EtH wanted us to be the best transitioning side in the world, and Højlund plays his best football on the shoulder of the last defender, using his pace to break in behind and his clinical finishing ability to score.

Despite his size he doesn't know how to use his body and get thrown around like a rag doll. This is obviously far more prevalent in a physical league like the EPL where defenders tend to be very physically strong. A quick striker will be able to beat most EPL strikers for pace, very few strikers will be able to out muscle the majority of EPL strikers.

It's foolish for Højlund to keep trying to do so.

I still stand by my belief that in another league and in the right team that Højlund would be a prolific scorer. I think if he moved to a German club he'd absolutely rip up the Bundesliga. It's a very transitional league that is very end to end, typically with a lot of space for strikers to run into. Strikers tend to get a lot of chances and a lot of 1v1's against the keeper. Højlund playing for Leipzig, Dortmund, Leverkusen or Stuttgart will get 20+ league goals.

Personally I think a move to Germany would be best for his career as the league suits his style of play.

{Ed025's Note - i see his future more as...working at McDonalds Shappy, hes bloody awful mate..

30 May 2025 11:27:51
He would never rip up German league…not a chance, you seem to think everywhere is inferior to the premier league sakes as the red tints with United…

Rasmus can’t even play off the shoulder he got no brain and finishing is woeful a 1-6 striker at best and that’s rubbish in any league.

30 May 2025 13:04:15
German, at the start of his United career he was playing off the shoulder of the last man and scored 8 goals in 10 games before getting injured. That was in the EPL and UCL, so at the highest level.

He never got consistently fit again after that and struggled towards the end of the season. Then this season the manager was sacked early on and the new manager wants his strikers to play in a totally different way. Højlund hasn't been able to adapt to that.

I'm not necessarily saying the EPL is a better league than the Bundesliga, just that the way football is played in each league is different.

I think the transitional style that is prevalent across most teams in the Bundesliga tends to create more space for forwards and better chances for them. That is why many players who have been prolific in Germany see their numbers drop (often significantly) when they move to other top European leagues.

You also tend to see it in reverse where forwards moving to Germany tend to see a jump up in the number of goals they score. Harry Kane for example went from averaging 25 league goals a season in the EPL to scoring 36 league goals in his first season in the Bundesliga.

I'm of the opinion that Højlund plays best in a side that looks to transition quickly, where he can play on the shoulder on of the last man. That has been backed up by his performances both playing in a team that plays that way and in a team that plays differently. He has also shown that when he gets a chance he is clinical in his finishing. In his first season with us he had a rubbish conversion rate of 28%. For context Salah this season has a shot conversion rate of 23% and that is considered elite.
Højlund when given a chances Højlund scores at an elite rate. The problem has always been that top strikers tend to have 3-4 shots a game and Højlund has averaged 1 a game. That's partly down to his movement off the ball to be in the right position for a possession based team. But also that he was playing in a side that has over the past few seasons really struggled to create good chances.

Given his strengths and the way he plays I think that he is ideally suited to playing in Germany and he would score a lot of goals there. Playing in a team and in a league that will give him 3-4 good shooting opportunities each game and with a shot conversion rate that maybe even dropped a bit from 28% to even 20% would still mean he'd score around 26 league goals a season. If he kept his conversation rate up at 28% that would be around 37 goals a season if he was getting 3-4 shots a game.

I strongly believe that the Bundesliga is a league where he will be able to get 3-4 shots a game. So yes, I think he'd rip it up over there. Any striker who gets between 25-35 league goals is absolutely ripping it up.

31 May 2025 00:23:28
Clinical finishing. More comedy gold!

31 May 2025 04:38:53
And just look who those goals came against, might be better way to judge….

Then look at how many he missed too

He is not a striker……. end of>….

Use any stats you like, he is crap and been so from day 1. Even his record in Italy is crap.
